Call blocker might be of some help.  Also don't pick up on numbers you do not recognize, or where there are caller IDs that seem odd.  Or where there is no caller ID.

You can also send them a cease and desist letter by certified mail with return receipt.

I started receiving calls from this number on August 1st and from reading the posts it is Midland Credit Management, a debt collector.  They have no reason to be calling me as I have no debts and nothing to do with Midland Credit.  I blocked the number and the last couple of days they keep calling and they are blocked after one ring.  I don't understand why the Phone Companies and FDC can't do something about this.

Its not the responsibility of the phone company to do anything with a debt collector. DC's do not fall under the DNC. They fall under the FDCPA laws. The jurisdiction would be FTC and CFPB. Follow the steps in what you need to know below.

    To File complaints FDCPA/TCPA violations:
    Your State Attorney General
    Their State Attorney general
www.naag.org (you can find your state AG at this link).

Also with the BBB and follow completely through with it.

Seek a FDCPA/TCPA Attorney if need be.
***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.

    Some Tips:
    *Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time, date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

I've received calls from them before about a Verizon bill from over 5 years ago.  Always the same routine, you own $270 but we'll settle for 60%.  In the beginning I tried to explain that Verizon had cancelled my service after changing my rate, and put this in collections instead of trying to resolve it.  They told me to report Verizon to the police.  I laughed and said it's a civil matter.

A couple of times I offered them between $25 and $50 to simply make the matter go away, and they never were willing to accept it.  I spoke to a broker about improving my credit by resolving this and they told me not to bother.  Paying anything but the full amount will reflect as a negative on my credit, so let it go for 2 more years and then make the credit bureaus remove it.

Tonight I was looking at my call log and the number had called me 8 times starting at 7:35 pm.  All the calls were logged but blocked by my phones selective call blocking.  That's the best and probably only way to deal with these creeps.

I have received hundreds of phone calls from this number and I am sick and tired of it.  Normally, when I see this number of my Caller ID I just ignore the call.  When I do answer it, there is never anyone on the other end.   I want this to stop.  I have asked them to stop calling when I do answer the phone, presumably speaking to either an answering machine or a robot.  The calls keep coming.  Is there any way to stop the nuisance calls from this number.

I get 2 or 3 phone calls a day.  I don't owe anyone any money so I'm sure they want the person who used to have this phone #.  When I answer ( I usually ignore it) no one answers.

    Re-tired of scams
I started getting calls last week. They call before 9 A.M., which is an inappropriate time for a business call. Today, it was a few minutes after 8. And, they call after 8 at night. They called me three times on Sunday, too. There hasn't been one message, but they wait to hang up, so my machine records it as a call. Then, I have to listen and erase every time. I just refinanced my home, and have no bad debts. I am retired, and on a small income, so I cannot afford a call blocker. I am going to report this one. From previous posts, I am guessing it is the Midland Credit scam.

it is not about paying the bills.  by law debt collectors have a limit to time and amount of calls a day; I believe it is 3.

Yeah, well you can thank Obama and his DC/California cronies. In Florida, the driver license test, one side is English the other side is Spanish. I wonder if it's the same way in Mexico?
If you were illegal, you wouldn't give out your correct information. Unfortunately, they, the Latinos who cross the border by swimming, jumping or running, do not care about YOU. They are the bottom dwellers of Central America.

No rule against it as far as I know, but if you tell 'em you don't want to be called on Sunday and they continue to do so, it could be construed as harassment,  which is prohibited by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

    Report them:
