- Lauren| 1 replyThese people won't stop calling me, leaving message and when I call back I always get voicemail. I know I have no unpaid debts and they have been leaving messages all month saying they coming to my work to serve me. Have fun with that. I finally got ahold of someone and they stated they are a law office but they don't have a website. I said what kind of law office doesn't have a website, he got very agitated with me and was asking for my information and I finally hung up on him. I am blocking all of these numbers. SO ANNOYING

- BigA replies to LaurenThese criminals are violating the law. CW50 has posted the most information we can find on them at this point since they have only been in business since November 12 of this year. You need to do the following since they are violating both State and Federal laws by representing themselves as an attorney. First read up on your rights here: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/ File a complaint and look at and/or download the cease and desist letter. Fill it out and mail it certified return receipt to the registered agent in CW50's post. Next file a complaint with both your State Attorney General's Office as well as the one for NY which is here: http://www.ag.ny.gov/
Also file a complaint with the NY State Courts that these people are impersonating attorneys: http://www.nycourts.gov/courts/ad4/AG/AG-index.htm - UpsetI received a call from Niagara Portfolio Solutions. Richard verified I was the correct person and he was calling from a pre-legal department. He gave no Mini Miranda or call monitoring / recording disclosure. I asked for some information for which he danced around the request. I hung up. He called right back and tried to say we were disconnected. I told him I don't lie and that I had hung up. On the second call he only verified my name and nothing else as well no Mini Miranda or call recording disclosure. He put someone else on the phone who was no better. Both Privacy Act and FDCPA violations were committed on this call. I will be making a call to Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and or the Federal Trade Commission. Also when you call the number the person that answers does not even state the companies name.

- Same scamThey are now from 855-546-9043 with threats of jail and court. They are trying to say I have several unpaid payday loans from June 2011. Makes no sense. I haven't had an online payday loan. The girls name was Marsha Brown.

- Fed UpI have gotten a call multiple times a day on both my cell phone and work phone. They have called with muliple numbers: 415-325-0255, 518-320-7999, 855-977-2166,206-858-9053, 855-546-9041. I finally had enough and called the number they gave me to call them back, a gal answers and just says "hello" and I just said to quit calling my number and she hung up on me, I immediately called the same number back and the same gal answered but this time she disguised her voice. I repeated to quit calling my number and that I have reported them and she hung up again. Then she proceeded to call my number repeatedly non-stop about 10 times in a row. THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE STOPPED!!!! We shall see if I get any calls today.
- Tiffany replies to CWG40| 1 replySo are they actually really or are these people just stealing their name because I just started getting these calls since yesterday and they had real private information on me.I hate the internet.
- Tiffany replies to SamYou gave them a tip to upgrade their scam.

- Stacy| 1 replyI got a call (voice mail)from 855-286-1332 saying I was going to be served at home and if not at my place of employment. U called number back an they supposedly had no info on me . Can't remember the name of the so called business. I tried looking up the number but no info
- Alfalfa replies to StacyHere are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:
The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.
The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.
The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.
The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.
Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.
Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.
Stop speaking with the caller. If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.
Tip: You can use this sample letter to write a letter demanding the debt collector stop contacting you. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).

- AB5472 replies to law enforcementThis guy/girl is absolutely right. I've been getting calls from them as well. I called the Attorney General, and they were very helpful. The guy I talked to seemed to know exactly which business I was talking about before I even told him. He told me how to send in a complaint, and all the threats they are making about criminal charges and such are totally bogus. Seriously, if these people are bugging you like they were me, by all means call this number and report them.
- LRThey've been calling just about everyday..and at some of the strange times.

- Veronica MI have gotten several calls from this stupid scam group for months now!. Always with the precursor message that they are about to serve me papers from the County I live in in New MExico if they don't hear from me in by 5 pm. The address they provided me was P.O. Box 54, NIagra Falls, NY 14304. They insist and insist and have been very rude.
I called a lawyer to ask what to do to stop this. We all need to be reporting this kind of activity each and every time to the FBI and your Attorney General's office so that they can possibly track the activity.
IC3.gov is a complaint filing system with FBI.
When these horrible, unethical, shady people called this week. I told them I filed a report with FBI, I also told them I am recording the calls, which I have. They hung up. I called back and they told me to stop harrassing them. HMMM.... makes me wonder: "I thought you were a ligit company, why are you running from my calls."- Caller: Niagra Falls Portfolio

- CWG40 replies to marie| 1 replyYes, they are a recently filed New York state LLC. You can look them up for yourself. That doesn't mean that they follow the rules of debt collection. I don't think they do.
(1) No legitimate process server notifies you in advance that you are going to be served.
(2) You can only be served in your locality by people who are licensed to serve process in your state.
(3) If you were going to be the subject of a legal action, th attorney for the other side would have contacted you by US mail. You wouldn NOT have heard about it form some scammy debt collector.
This whole business is a scam. They are just trying to scare you into paying them something. Don't fall for it.
Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a DIME until the debt is validated.
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.
If they are bothering you,
Report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.
