this number says it is from a cell phone on my caller ID.  Didn't pick it up

Got a call, but did not answer.  Phone app identified this number as suspected spam.  Did not leave a message.

857 214  1559 called my cell phone but left no message.  

CID says MASSACHUSETTS. No kidding, tell me something I didn't know. I don't answer numbers I don't recognize. These fools change numbers more often then I change my underwear. Daily. No message on answering machine so you really didn't want to tell me anything important.

Got a call on my cell from this number no message was left.....Called back about five minutes later and said it was a Verizon Wireless Payment Center....Too bad I do not even have a Verizon phone....Nice try, sounds like a scam!

Received a call from this particular phone number at 9:25 AM on 12/24/2014 and Caller ID showed Massachusetts 857-214-1559 and no VM was left. Since no VM was left, the call wasn't important to begin with.

Continuous nuisance

if you have a cell phone you can get call detector and block them.

I blocked them - they only got through once and straight to my voicemail where they left no message but thanks to all the posts above - they are now blocked :-)

I received a call from 857-214-1559 today identifying themselves as Verizon Wireless and needed to talk to me about my bill. After speaking to the REAL Verizon Wireless Customer Support, they tell me this was a scam. Let's be careful out there folks

annoying calls - please have them not call.

Use a survey scam to sell a cruise , I am on do not call list.

Called never said anything.  I hung up.

My name is Frankie and I am 35 and a half years old and they said I won a cruise and I said I live in a group home and have to take a a group leader and they said no and I said why and they said because I have to go alone and then they asked what I was wearing and then they said was I fat and then they told me that they were gonna steal my dog but I don't have a dog.

FIRSTLY, They just called on a private BUSINESS line; I am OBLIGED to answer.  Fortunately, I was away from my desk, and by the time I got to it; it stopped ringing.  But recognizing all the 857 SPAM calls we've gotten lately, I came here to check the status before calling back and putting a long distance call on the company bill.  

SECONDLY, we *cannot block* incoming calls easily; it is a whole rigamarole to do so.  "ONE SIZE SOLUTION" does NOT fit all here.

THIRDLY, we, the receivers of these calls are the VICTIMS of attempted crime; NOT the Perpetrators.  You could do with a little more respect towards the people who take the time to report these calls here so that others can see they are not 'crazy' for not answering.  MIND YOUR MANNERS.  Yes, it would be good to report these to the authorities who can possibly DO something about this, BUT you cannot fault people for being exasperated - nor their expression of such -  by these insipid calls.

They are CRIMINALS, not 'companies.'  They are attempting CREDIT CARD PHISHING in order to put steep charges on it, for which you will receive EMPTY PROMISES and nothing more.  This is FRAUD.

But, because a LOT of these calls originate from OVERSEAS, there is little that can be done about it after the fact since victims 'willingly' give out their cc numbers to the THIEVES.  "BUYER BEWARE."

It would be nice if the credit card companies intervened and BLOCKED these charges, then the criminals would be thwarted,  and likely would stop calling, BUT since the big banks make money off these crimes via the interest they charge (and quite possibly kick backs...?) they have no incentive to do so.

You can also report to the government, including the FBI, if you've been scammed; but, don't expect to see your money again.

We got the 857 call at 12:38;  then got a call from 978-945-9112 just now at 11:50.  Interesting.

The 857 call hung up after 3.5 rings, but the 979 number (Both BOSTON area) went all the way to the machine before disconnecting.  

Wonder if its another 'free cruise' scam, too.
