called, no message, i called back and it said welcome to verizon wireless, the # has changed or been disconnected... added to my auto reject list

called at 1pm on a wednesday. I answered, there was not a sound on the other line.

Called my cell and left no message. Only 3 family members have my cell #.  What good is a federal & state DO NOT CALL list if no one enforces these laws and violators are never punished?

Got a call from this number, but they didn't leave a message. Called using my work land-line phone to see who picks up, but there was no sound, not even a ring. I hung up after 30 seconds into the call.

Many companies use a circuit known as a PRI (primary rate ISDN).  It's like a T-1, except that rather than 24 talk paths, it has 23, plus one data channel.  The data channel can collect inbound Caller ID and a bunch of other information, but it can also be used to display any phone number (Caller ID) on outbound calls.  Companies that are legitimate will display their own phone number, or that of their main (advertised) telephone number.  Those using a PRI for 'evil' will display a phone number they don't own in hopes of a called party answering.  It you try to turn them in, you'll only be turning in a company who has had their phone number spoofed.  It's not Verizon's fault.  If you're getting a robo-call, it's probably being done with a Voice Response Unit connected to high capacity phone lines (like a PRI or a bundle of PRI's).

received a call from this number but left no message. Called it back and it was disconnected.

I find it strange that I was in Rancho Bernardo recently for the first time in years. So now the number is disconnected even though I was called today. I was at 3 different places in RB and I didn't give out my phone number. IS SOMEONE TAPPING INTO MY PHONE?? It's ILLEGAL and I DONT BELIEVE ITS A TELEMARKETER

That is good information and it makes sense because I couldn't understand why it would be Verizon. So now my concern is how these people obtained my phone number because this happened to me twice now where I'm in a city I don't frequent then I'm called by someone from that area. It's like they are somehow breaking into my phone when I'm there. I will figure out which store is doing this.

Scam, don't answer or call back

Got calls every 5 seconds for 45 minutes beginning at 5:15 am.  First from a land line, then a cell phone, both the same number.

"You've won a cruise...."  Hung up and put it on the phone block list.

Got a call at 9:20AM, left no message.  Will be on reject list.

I answered the phone, but there was no response on the other end. I blocked the number.

Another call from these lowlife scammers.  Too bad they're blocked forever...awwww...

NEVER ANSWER UNKNOWN TELEPHONE CALLS - THEY ARE ALWAYS SCAMS!
NEVER call the number back - by calling back, you assure the CRIMINALS that you have a working number - a number that can be sold to other CRIMINALS!
Please go to Amazon and check out the Panasonic phones that block 250 numbers.  Also, check out the D*gitone call blocker that can block entire area codes and full telephone numbers - we have three of them - one on each of our land lines.  We have had the 858 area code blocked for over a year.  NO CALLS from the 858 area code can make our phones ring...not even once!  CRIMINAL TELEMARKETERS often change a few digits in their telephone numbers but less rarely change area codes - not to worry, the D*gitone call blocker will stop them cold!
Currently, we have over 160 area codes blocked with at least 250 full telephone numbers blocked.
Should you have friends or family in a blocked area code - simply invite their number into your call blocker - they can call right through.
