When you look up the number on the internet, it is displayed as Federal Supply Co, but when called back, the number is actually Portfolio Recovery, a debt collector trying to collect debts beyond statue of limitations.

A debt collector by the name of Portfolio Recovery, they call from countless numbers, they are trying to collect on past debts.

New number being used by Portfolio Recovery Associates, Corp HQ', located in Norfork VA.  Bad debt collector started using a new set of unlisted numbers 859-56-9557. This number is assigned out of Camden NJ. Unable to confirm any valid business location or being listed as a debt collector in the State of NJ.

No not answer or respond to these unverified numbers that this debt collector uses that can not be verified as a valid contact number used by this company. If you need to contact this company use a confirmed, valid contact number associated with the company located in Norfork VA.

Company must be hiring private contractor's in different state to act as this company call centers.  Than using this unverified number in their auto-dialer calling system to place harassing calls to people.  

Just a nother area code to block - which doesn't bother me since my phone never rings when they call

came up burlington ky...yes...i am sure it is another one of hundreds of numbers they use...they are trying to collect on a debt that is over 16 years old....the bottom of the bottom feeders....think i will send a cease and assist letter for them to sign for so that they can no longer call us...and if they do..they can be sued and people have won!!! will look into it further.....

now they are calling from this number, but i have at least three others they have called me from.  They are talking about a credit card from 2001 (over 12 years ago!!!) that I allegedly opened, but have never sent documentation of what they are referring to just a letter demanding payment and an amount. Previous calls from them with the information that they had was not even mine - wrong SSN, wrong DOB, wrong address (I have never ever lived in Kansas). told them that unless they could send me documentation proving that was my account to stop contacting m - OR ELSE

I always research all unknown numbers on caller id and then block them. They are wasting their time.

Caller ID showed Kentucky call...left no message.  Don't kown anyone in Kentucky.  DNC list doesn't do anything...getting numerous calls since we entered our number on the so called "NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY".  What a joke they are

If you don't even know who called you why are blaming the DNC Registry?   Do you actually know what the purpose of the DNC is and how it is administered?    Go to the FTC/DNC registry and under frequently asked Q&As  READ!!    The DNC Registry was established for Legitimate Telemarketers,  to limit their telemarketing calls to people who do not wish to receive them.    The FTC/DNC   defines Telemarketing as follows:    Telemarketing = Telephone Sales of Goods or Services   Did you caller attempt to sell you goods or services?  It does not immunize you against all of your unwanted calls.   The telephone call that you are now complaining about is from Portfolio Recovery Associates.....A Debt Collector.   Debt collectors are not Telemarketers and as such are not covered under the DNC....

If you are not happy with it,  why don't you call the Do Not Call Registry and Opt out......You have that option and the freedom of choice.

Jon,   that's a good question.  Unless you have a call blocker that allows you to universally block all area codes,  their numbers are limitless.   This company has been sued and lost more times than Phillip Morris Cigarette company,  and they keep coming back because the profit potential is so great.  They primarily deal in buying up old 3rd party debt or Zombie debts for almost nothing and try to collect from anyone who will pay them.  Most debts are out of Statute of Limitation,  yet they are extremely successful because the average person that they go after has no clue as to their rights under the Fair Debt collections act.  
The principals of this company are truly low lifes themselves,  but I won't get into their previous legal problems here.

they have about a half dozen different locations that they make calls from.  they also have been known to utilize other associated collections companies.  They used to not spoof caller IDs but i guess the public has become so aware their type of callers that they no longer answer when it says PRA....What i don't understand is how they are able to use illegal calling methods and get away with it when they are a high profile company.  They have been fined repeatedly by the FTC or FCCs  but apparently not enough.  They are as low as trash can get as far as I am concerned.

These idiots have been harrassing me for years. They use all kinds of illegal ways to get you. I cannot believe they keep trying. This is a hospital bill that was the first paid by my insurance company in 2001. What morons. I have told them the bill was paid and I had proof but they still persist in calling and bothering me. They call very early, real late whatever they want.. I am really getting tired of it and have decided to contact an attourney...enough already...The fair debt collection act will definately apply here and I am about to use it...Portfolio is about to be sued back...lol

These unethical liars called saying I needed to cooperate with them or else.... or else what?   I am on social security,fixed income and have not worked in over 12 years and do not need to as I am in my late 70's. I have never owed anyone and currently have no outstanding debts. So I hope when this financial system is changing soon, predator organizations like these are dismantled and the people working there including the owners spend the rest of their days in jail or terrorizing people like myself for no good reason at all.

Portfolio Recovery buys old debt, I believe, pennies on the dollars.The so called debt may not even have been yours but someone with the same name or another family number. I owe no new or old debts and my credit report is clean. We never answer numbers we don't recognize. They use to use one number that stated they were Portfolio Recovery but since March they are using a bunch of numbers. If you don't recognize the number, don't answer. They robo call all the time hoping someone answers!

They have called from Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Georgia according to my caller id.  I answered once and made sure that I told the person, who was rude as hell, that they cannot call me and if they keep calling I would record the number of times they've called and from what numbers and contact my states attorney general and the FTC.  they said you can't do that.  I have sent a cease and desist letter to them and am awaiting for the signature receipt from the post office.  Now when they call I either don't say anything, not even "hello" and just sit there in silence.  You can hear a person on the other end breathing.  I've even gone as far as downloading rude ring tones from zedge.net and when they call I have the cell sitting there waiting for them, so when I answer the phone I play the rude ringtones.  they usually don't call again that day after hearing that.
