Came home to find a message from Erin identifing herself as being with a law firm Moore & s?? and to please asap. I called because it was a law firm thinking something bad had happened somewhere. Only to be questioned extensively when it appears it had nothing to do with me or anyone I know. When I questioned back what was the purpose and who was the client and asked what Erin's last name was - another person interrupted and said they were terminating the call. VERY STRANGE. Felt like they were fishing for information, but don't have a clue who they are calling. Very rude and aggressive in my opinion.

    Law Offices of  Larry Roach
    175 Montrose Ave., #200
    Copley, OH 44321
Collect America Franchisee (CACV & CACH)
    Phone: 330-668-2260 - 866-204-3699
    Fax: 330-668-2092 - 330-668-6807

    Head Debt Collectors:
    Larry Roach, Attorney, Owner
    Julie Martinez, General Manager

    Bud Says:

Ever wonder where PI attorneys go when there are no more ambulances to chase? They buy a Collect America franchise for the Akron, OH area like attorney Larry Roach did. It does not matter that their knowledge about debt collection laws is likely non existent, nor does it matter about the quality of debt collectors they hire, after all this is NOT about law, this is about MONEY!

Larry Roach, Copley, OH is a Collect America franchisee, who apparently fell off an ambulance and couldn’t find any more PI work. Larry uses general manager Julie Martinez to run the collectors, who call and threaten consumers across his country with lawsuits. Unfortunately for Larry, it won’t be by him because he is ONLY licensed in Ohio.

Roach’s operations generate a LOT of consumer complaints about their heavy handed threats of litigation, wage garnishment and seizure. This can only mean that Larry is making money and is able to payoff on consumer lawsuits, so it won’t take much to arm you and go after this group of desperate con men. Tape record their calls (where legal), make them validate their claims and don’t fall for the lies and threats of desperate debt collectors. Larry Roach can also be brought up on ethics charges with the Ohio State Bar at: http://www.ohiobar.org/  don’t let a former PI lawyer, who bought a debt collection franchise push you around, push them back twice as hard.

Law Office of Larry Roach, is no more.  As of January 2008, it is Moore & Scribner, Attorneys at Law.  But I hear, Julie has pissed off the 2 attorneys, so at the beginning of 2009, they hopefully will either close down, or she'll get some more new attorneys in to [***].

Alfalfa, how did you figure that they were possibly going to close down? Where do you get your facts from? Do you know someone that works at this firm? I am currently going through arrangements with them, which was offered by me. They were incredibly rude even though I never protested the debt or making an arrangement. I wanted to send them a money order/cashier's check for the settlement and they replied that they only do electronic debits. It seems very fishy to me, and I do not trust these people at all. Another thing is the person on the phone always talks about a payment that definitely needs to be made by the end of December, so I became kind of curious after reading your post that maybe they will in fact close down.

For all others dealing with this firm out there; these people are incredibly rude. They loosen up a little after they see that you're trying to work with them. However, at first when they haven't even heard what I had to say, they started with ridiculous threats none of which they could possibly accomplish under the laws of the state I live in. Seizure of my assets, garnishing all my wages, put a lien on my house,  keeping everyone that even knows about this debt and happens to be related to me responsible (this was the weirdest one out of all), etc... All they had to do was ask whether I want to cooperate and they chose to yell and scream instead. I tried to be sympathetic because they probably get yelled at all the time, but if they can't handle it they should choose a non-blood sucking career track. I also had the pleasure of talking with Julie Martinez, ah that precious woman. She brings a new meaning to anti-Christ.

Don't let these people bully you... I chose to own up to my debt, but I refuse to be lectured about my moral obligations by a firm, that profits on others' misfortune through lies and threats.

Unfortunately, circumstances happen and sometimes you are no longer able to pay the money that is owed.  For instance, myself, up until this June 2008 I paid all of my bills on time.  An unfortunate circumstance occurred and I am no longer able to pay my outstanding debt.  It doesn't matter who the company is or how many times that they call, if you dont have the money you dont have the money. You would think these agencies had the sense after looking at someone's credit record that something must have happened to them for them to stop paying.  This is why you people get such a bad rap - you are trying to suck blood out of a turnip.  It never gonna happen.

We get calls like this at my workplace all the time.  The caller asked for Shaun O'Green.

Caller:  Derek with Moore & Scribner.
    Phone Number:  1-866-204-3699 ext. 3403

The message is immediately deleted, well - after I report it.  My advice, look up every suspicious number.  Most likely you are not the only one who has received this number.  Never call back, otherwise your number will be put into the system and it will keep re-generating your number to be called again and again.

These people have called three and four times a day for the past two week on my cell.  I eventually blocked their number from my cell phone.  That's when they made the mistake of calling me from a different number 330 668-2516.  A bit of research led me to Montrose, Ohio.  Their claim may be valid, but I cannot substantiate since I do now know who the original creditor is.  I am disabled with Multiple Sclerosois; however, for twenty three years before my disability forced me to retire, I was a credfit and collections paralegal.  I have researched the FDCPA quite carefully and so far have found them to be in violaion of four parts.   Today I called and asked to speak to a manager or supervisor; the receptionist was very pleasant, but the collector who has been calling got on the phone instead, and refused to speak to me unless I wanted to make arrangements to pay.  I said I wanted to speak to a manager; he said 'It's never going to happen, we'll just sue you."  Then he hung up.  I am looking to report them to the Ohio Bar and possibly prepare a class action suit for their many violations.  If I go thru with this action, they couild be liable for up to $1000 per incident.  If interested in joining me or if you have a story you wish to relate, please respond on this site.  I am hesitant to post my email address since we do not kow what type of resources these people have.

Wrong, you are f-ing scumbag pieces of crap with no talents or you'd go get respectable jobs.  You break laws you know exist in order to "track" people down such as calling them at work.  None of you are reasonable or willing to work out a plausible solution to settle the debt you bought for pennies on the dollar.  You make false claims and try to prey on people's ignorance.  Get a real job, loser.  50% of the crap you try to collect is inaccurate anyway.  The rest is stuff that people, such as myself, have been attempting to work out with a credit card company that decided to screw their clients by sending their customer service department to India to save some cash (yet not lower APR's to reflect this).  Credit card companys are ruining America with usury law violating interest rates that keep people broke.  Debt is easy to get into and hard to get out.  They waste billions of $ sending out card offers and then cry about not having any money so that tax payers have to foot the bill.  FU to credit cards is my personl stimulus.  They got one, so did I.  Only I have no dirt bag sack of crap to call them every day.

I have been getting calls that have been going straight to the answering machine when I'm asleep (I work nights), and when I do answer, all I hear is an electronic noise, then a click, then nothing.  The sad thing is, they are asking for someone with a name that is not mine (Remmy?).  I finally decided to hit "0" instead of hanging up - actually got to speak to a live person.  Hopefully, I'll actually be removed, but they now have notice that they do not have the right number, and I'll be recording every time they call from now on.  Also, now that I know who they are (and that while their name didn't come over caller id on today's call, it is attached to previous calls), I will be sending them a letter to informed them that they are in violation of FDCPA.

They have called me 3 times so far. Their telephone number actually belongs to a private citizen. The second time they called, I spoke to them and explained my telephone number does not belong to the person they are looking for. Yet they continue to call. I consider this harrassment.
