I actually wrote one of the comments and said it was a scam... I received a letter from the State of Michigan today and called to clarify what it was about. I also inquired about the call I had received on Saturday from this number. They did confirm that someone did call me from the State of Michigans collections and that they are open on Saturdays. I don't recommend picking it up because he didn't sound very friendly...I would just call back and talk to someone who isn't as aggressive. The number to call is 866.754.8651. Well of course the State of MI will take whatever action necessary to collect a debt!  However, they do so via letters, NOT phone calls!  And, they give you ample opportunities to correct the issue, I had accidentally left off part of our income and they wrote me a letter and showed proof of how they figured I owed them.  I then called the number on the letter and made sure it was legit before sending any money.  In the letter they offered several ways for me to pay and one way was an installment plan so it really isn't all gloom and doom as you portray!  Obviously Big A.  Your working for these low lifes!

How could he be working for the scammers when he posts official information from State of Michigan?  Calm down.  BigA has been posting helpful information for years and he IS on the side of the angels.

Received a call from one of the scammers.. wanted my son or daughter in laws phone number, said they were from State of Mi and to call them.. I was to give them the message.  Unfortunately I did give them my son's number and then looked it up.  It is a SCAM!

Obviously you have no reading comprehension.  You see the State of Michigan has hired an third party debt collector to collect these debts.  This third party debt collector does indeed make phone calls.  I like the way that if I print facts then I must be working for them.  Interesting take by an obvious troll.  By the way, had you gone to the link I provided, and had you taken the time to actually read and comprehend, you would have seen this (emphasis mine)

Definite scam... State of Michigan has information posted about this online. This group is losing as MARCS which is a legit private collection agency for Michigan dept of Treasury, however the return number they give 1-866-218-7224 is not the same as what is on Michigan.gov for MARCS.

Keep getting a call from a Mrs Dugan on this 866 218 7224 for about 2months now smh. Really ppl i think it would just be put on my credit by now..

Called me saying they were from Wells Fargo corporate... happy I found this site. I think she was phishing! She left a message , I didn't answer. She said her name was Kayla and to call her back at this number

A lady called and said she is calling on behalf of the Michigan Department of Treasury and asked me to verify my social security and last name. I refused and she gave me a number to call back. This is a scam as I don't owe any late taxes.

Guy called at 8:30 this morning and left a message and said to call.  I instead called the Treasury Department myself with their true number and they said that I have nothing in collections.  TIP: Don't call the number they give you, just call the real MI Treasury Department.

Called as State of Mich Treasury Dept.  Looking for people with names I dont even know. Gave case # to reference when calling back. Will call to tell them I don't know these people. If they call again... Can you say "BLOCK"?
