I'm not sure if it really is MARCS calling or not. But I think it is a collection agency and I think they skirt the collection laws. They lie and are shady with their mailings. If it is for Michigan, the state is despicable for using this type of low life company.

There are no collection laws that cover taxes.  Taxes are not consumer debt.

they called for a person named Greg, my name is not Greg.  I don't know any Gregs.

I received a call from a 313-230-2411 number telling me to return my call to 866-218-7224. I read through all the comments on here and took into consideration the possibility that it could be from the MARCS company. Yet, when I look online with the treasury department or MARCS number listed there are not the same. There is a warning on the website https://www.michigan.gov/som/0,4669,7-192-26847-453440--,00.html with the true numbers to call to check on your status if you are worried you might owe. Also a way to report the scam attempt.
When I searched the 313 number a collections company came up, but it had a bogus address and a few complaints on the BBB website for scam attempts. I hope this helps!

I received a scam call claimed to have been from Michigan Department of Treasury. And they left a voicemail stating call back and refer to a reference #

1-480-542-7224 scammer/comes up out of area, this number calles 10 times a month after reporting winslow, flagstaff/phoenix/midvale ut, tempe, payson, AZ/linked to D Manning/rob calls/scam calls, fraud business/changing the last 4 numbers, or last two, scammer

I have had repeated calls from this number asking for the person who had my current phone number 12 YEARS AGO. This person must be a real loser, since I get dunning calls  for him on a regular basis..still! I hate to call them back, lest they think I'm the loser.

I don't know who this is and what they are looking for I just remember them message it said to discuss a personal business matter. They have my address and Name which is weird. So I asked what's the personal business matter ,? They didn't give me any information but wanted more of my information..If you Already Know my name and where I stay that's enough information. For you to tell me what you are calling for Right ,? Right ..

"Personal business matter", but wrong name. Re: comments...Have never lived in Michigan, don't have debt, but they called repeatedly before leaving a message.
