Same message as above. They even found a friend of ours that they asked for her help. Figured it was BS. Found friends phone # that we haven't talked to in 13 yrs. Just took phone into sprint to be fixed. Some contacts phone #;s were missing when we got it back. Don't know how they got phone #'s We do not do any social networking. Break in message when they mention my name. When they mention my name it isn't the same voice that started the recording. You can hear the break in the message. BE AWARE

Received a call from the same #.  I knew right away it was a scam.  But what's really upsetting to me is that they are now harassing my elderly father, who can't understand that this is a scam.

Got a call from this number today, they've also called from other numbers in Montana & Illinois as well. They stated I owe $700 for a delinquent payday loan (NEVER had one), but the kicker was that the bank acct used to get the loan was with a bank I had closed in 2008 and using an address I lived at in 2007, but the loan was taken out in 2012. How can you use a bank acct that's been closed in '08 to get a payday loan in 2012??? They couldn't tell me what the last 4 of the acct # was, where the loan was taken out, but I wanted to know why it's never shown on my credit report after 4 yrs. they said they got my current # by someone doing a look up on me, but aren't able to get a current address since the one they had for the payday loan.... fishy. They didn't ask to update it, only for my email. I told them to take it to court because I'm not paying $700 for something that doesn't sound legit. SCAMMERS!!!

I received a call from 866-226-3520 stating someone wanted to file a formal complaint against me and the next step was filing in the Federal Courts.  I pressed whatever they said to accept the call and when I asked "what is this about?"  They hung up on me.  I feel like I have just been violated.  Like when my identity was stolen or my bank account hacked.  They even had my name.... What is this about??

I received a message to return their call from a man with a strange computerized voice.  I returned the call and they claimed I owed $400 from a loan I took out in 2013 from a bank that I closed the account in 2000.  They threatened to serve me at home or at work with papers to pay $568 to $1000 if I didn't pay in 24 hours.  I told them I am calling my attorney for them to call them back.  This was a lady named Heather that gave me that information

I get repeated phone calls from 866-226-3520 regarding pre-litigation for someone I've never heard of.
I've told them repeatedly that there is no connection to the person they are coming about, and to stop calling.
They are rude, dishonest, won't give company or location information and told me to go ahead and file a complaint.
This company needs to be put out of business.

This number has called me twice now looking for my mom, who hasn't had a payday loan in years.
Doesn't leave a company name or anything.

This company has called me twice in regards to someone I dont know, everyone needs to call this number back and start asking about their company,
I asked what the name of their company was and they said cfs, and that it stands for nothing.
Everyone needs to start calling them, spam call them like they do all of us.
[***] that company for interfering with people, [***] companies like that should be illegal.
Seriously, everyone state calling that number and start asking them a bunch of questions.
Say, that if they do not quit calling people that they will have a lawsuit filed against them.

I just got a message too, saying a company called GTI A Holding Financial was the client for a payday loan.   "Heather" told me that I would get a Complaint served to me in the next five days and more information would be on the Complaint.  I explained to "Heather" that I got these same calls back in August for the same so called company and I had no such loanb and that I had reported it to our attorney general who stated that there are payday scams going around. She then told me any information would be on the Complaint and to check my credit report for fraudulent activity.  I check my credit report periodically and there is no fraudulent activity.  I think she backed off when she knew I had been in contact with the AG.

Criminals masquerading as debt collectors attempt to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged (they use the bad check or hot check claim a lot) and go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished without actually being sued or going to court, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money.  They will use the words “Mediator”, “Arbitrator”, or “Law Office” to make you believe that they are something other than a debt collector want-a-be and that they don’t have to follow Federal and State collection laws.  They do have to follow those laws, but they won’t.  They mention that they have received a Fax document, to create the sense of urgency.  They also tell you that if you fail to call them back you are "waiving your right to council", which is pretty much nothing but hogwash.  They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer).  Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them.  Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Read up on your rights here and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Received the same type of message like the others.  Message was from a male stating that this was in regards to a "formal complaint" and wanted to know the "whereabouts" of the individual in question.  No information left containing a company name or even an account number.  This is clearly a BS SCAM!
