Thank GOD i googled the number. I was about to give them whatever info they needed cause I knew I had some overdraft charges and thought it was for real!

I've received several messages from 866-512-7171 stating it is an URGENT NON-MARKETING message from Bank of America and to call 866-231-4406 with message code "605318" when prompted.
Beware.  It is not a BofA representative calling you...it is a scam that is going around.

A call came through from 206-802-0058. It was a recording & half-way through the message before I was able to pick up the phone. The call states to call back 866-231-4406.
Per AnyWho, 206-802-0058 is a residental residence.

They were calling from 866-512-7171 but they ask to be called back at 866-231-4406. This call came through my work number 4:10pm Dec 20, 2007.
The whole recording does not even come through so I do not know who it was for anyway.

Got a call from 866-512-7171 asking to call back at 866-231-4406. Message sounded fishy, so I googled phone number and found this page.

The funny thing is that I've never been BofA customer. I guess the folks who claim that it's legit BofA numbers/business are probably part of the scam. Ton't tell them anything.

Picked up the phone only to hear a partial recording with a woman's voice. The call came through from 206-802-0058, which per AnyWho is a residential number, but the recording states a call-back number of 866-231-4406 & provided a message code to enter.

"Urgent, non-marketing" call from Bank of America for a B of A check account holder.The message was to call 866-231-4406 and use a message code.

I called back the number, and it connected me directly with BoA. The gentleman who answered asked me for the phone number by which they contacted me. I supplied it. He then asked if he was speaking with *enter my name here*. I said yes. He then asked for my verbal password, and I gave it to him. From that alone, he was able to access my account information, and he told me why they called and yada yada yada.

It's fine. Before you decide not to call back, just call anyway and if you feel it is a fraud afterwards, just hang up. They actually called me because there was some suspicious activity on my account that they wanted to verify, or a "courtesy call" was how he put it.

This is the Bank of America collections department. For some time they have been calling me to contact a Ricardo Armando Gonzalez Villanueva who has apparently used my phone number on his account. He apparently skipped town on his bills and so they are calling the number on file. I called 866-512-7171 and spoke with an agent who assured me they were Bank of America. I did not give any private info (not even my name) and placed my number on their no-call list.

If you are receiving calls from this number you either owe Bank of America or someone has used your number for their unpaid account.

I just got a company cell phone and i'm getting multiple calls a day from people trying to reach the person who had my number before me. In addition to that being a hassle, I'm getting calls from this same number multiple times a day. The first time they called, they left a message claiming to be bank of america and trying to reach the previous number holder. I've been answering these calls with the hope that I can tell a real person to stop calling me, but when I answer, its as though no one is there, so now i just answer the phone, but don't say anything and the calls last until they hang up, usually between 1 and 3 minutes. I don't know how to get this number to stop calling me!!

Are you the crook running this phone scam robbing people?  That number does not belong to BANK OF AMERICA.  So stop writing your utter nonsense on forums like this ok?  Ok scum of the earth?  Either you are really dumb or you are as crooked as they come!

These are crooks phishing for personal info.  In this case, they are looking for your bank acct number.  18662314406 and 866-512-7171.  They are preying on dumb, informed people.  So don't become one.  Why would someone call from another number and ask you to call another number?  Nobody will ever call you asking for your social security number or your bank acct number.
