I received a automated call from 866-231-4406 stating it was Bank Of America and to call back and give message # 593---. I called back to speak with someone.It took several minutes to connect to someone and different music was playing. BOA always have the same sound and the male voice. It's always in reference to BOA. Someone answered and said, "Thank You for calling us back, May I have your name and account number? I asked, Why? she said," We are calling you about information about your account. I said, Why are you calling about my account and Bank Of America does'nt have a 866 #. This sounds bogus, let me check online for the phone # for BOA. she tried to give another 866#. I told her the only 866 # they have is for Utah & Washington. I'll get the number from the website and I hung up.I CALLED BANK OF AMERICA THEM ABOUT THIS ATTEMPT.  ALSO LOOK FOR THE BOGUS EMAILS.

Someone actually had the nerve to reply. 866-231-4406 is bogus, plain and simple. Crooks! Thieves!,and extortionists!

I got a message on my answering machine from this number. When I called back they asked for my mother's maiden name. I refused to give it. The person on the other end said I could call the number on the back of my BofA card (odd that she didn't have it) and then I'd get reconnected to her.

I called BofA direct and they don't have this number on file (according to the person I spoke to) and they never ask for personally identifiable information when *they* call *you*.

FWIW my checking account was overdrawn, so it's possible this is a collections thing, but if it is BofA needs a far better way of handling it, as very few people are going to respond positively to a cold call asking for information about their bank account.

On your first overdraft they call out of courtesy. Also there wasnt an overdraft fee, so dont be scared.

I received a msg from a gentlemen stating he was calling from BofA and left a call back number. However, when I called the number it said, "please enter your pin" Whoa, I'm thinking... No way! Then the next day I receive an automated message with a call back number of 1-866-231-4406 and a "message number/pin".

THIS INDEED IS THE OVERDRAFT PROTECTION NUMBER.

They will call if your account has been over drafted for more than 20 days. I am embarrassed to say, mine has. They did not ask me ANY personal info, but rather confirmed info with me. They called to set up a payment arrangement and reduce some of the OD fees.

I hope this gives some of you piece of mind. Also, when in doubt ask them to confirm info, such as transactions, etc that only your financial institution would have. If you guard your information properly it makes it very hard for scammers, con artists and thieves to have access to it.

I just got a new cellphone and my phone number is to someone that owes Bank of America and other companies money. They have been leaving msg for some guy shawn. He had the number before me and I called BOA and told them remove my number now. I shouldn't have to put up with this.

I just got a call from them telling me to call back with a verification #. I did call back and they asked for my address and city I opened my BOA account in. They were able to pull up my info and they said the reason they were calling was because my account was overdrawn for $212(which in fact it was).

I am a previous employer of BOA and this call is 100% FRAUD!!!!! These people are trying to steal idenity to obtain access to your account! BOA would NEVER call you and ask you to give your account # or social security number over the phone.  The only way an associate would ask you for personal information is if YOU CALLED THEM! Be very careful with this call and DO NOT give out any information.

Go to your local branch and give them the number that called you so that they can report it to their fraud department.The numbers I have come across are 1866-231-4406 and 1-866-512-7171.

I got this number while on my way to pick up some games and I knew it was something wrong with that. I got on the phone with B of A and they confirmed that it was a scam. My only ? is how did they get my cell number?

Of course it's a scam; BA never calls you with a wrong info. And they identifiy themselves by name!!!!

Received a call from 866-512-7171 and, always wary of unknown 800/866 numbers, I contacted BofA via LiveChat. The rep there indicated that this was NOT a Bank of America number and asked I forward the information to abuse@bankofamerica.com

I also got a message telling me to call this number 866-231-4406 and to key the reference number given to me by them. I havent called, but I started receiving these calls from this number when my account when negative I believe thats why they are calling. Either way Im going to go in the branch to clear up my balance, however I do think its an attemp to collect.

I have received four of these recorded message calls on my cell phone. It claims to be Bank of America and states the name of someone I have never heard of and gives a message code to use when calling them back. I don't know what number they were actually calling from but just noted the number they said to call. I will not be calling them back.

This is a Bank of America number. It's legit, for overdraft stuff in my case.

All you paranoid people gotta calm down. They asked for my zip code and they told me my name. Yes THEY told me MY name and knew about my account already so i didn't have to provide info. Its legit, and if you truely have an overdrawn account then call them back. If you dont have an account with them then obviously its a mistake so don't call them back

Caller ID came thru as " SEATTLE"; recording stated it was B of A Msg Center w/ msg for me (my name); gave me the 866-231-4406 number to call and a code to access " my msg"; recording stated "not a sales marketing call" - lady's voice was professional, unaccented, and connections were made cleanly; when I called (yeah, I called the stupid #) and was asked to plug in my zip code, I figured they have my home phone, my name so zip can't be a problem, disclosure-wise - msg stated my account ending in_ _ _ _ was recently overdrawn.  The _ _ _ _, supposedly last 4 of my bank account, was actually the last 4 of my SSN (the flags went up) -no overdraft amount/deposit amount was referenced, and I was directed to either the actual B of A website or my local branch.  End of msg.
Bank Of America states that 866-2312-4406 is in no way connected to them.  I was given a Fed. Trade Commission # - 877-438-4338 - ti call if I'd like to pursue what BofA calls obvious phishing.

I received a automated call today giving me number to call back and a message no. When I called the number (866-231-4406), and the message no. I was instructed to give my billing zip code. I stopped at that point and hung up. I let Bank of America know and they said they could not help and didn't know what that no. was.

OM Goodness... i keep geting this same call at my job... I am not a BOA customer. This has got to stop, it is disrupting my place of business by leaving messages on our business voicemail as if I've done something wrong....  How do I get rid of this stuff...
