- 866-231-4406 866-512-7171866-512-7171 but they ask to be called back at 866-231-4406. Both numbers fake!!!
Don't worry and don't even bother calling them back. They may even put in a code scam to charge your phone if you put in some code in the future. So don't even call them back to punch in some code.- Caller: 866-231-4406 866-512-7171
- it's Bof AI got the same thing, called them up and with out giving more than the code they left in VM and verifying my verbal password they had my account info. I asked they put notes aclnowledging the return call in my account and told them i would call right back. I then went to my banks office told them about the call had them look my account and the notes were there. And i just happen to owe them money which I took card at the bracnh office. I would never give personal info over the phone and if you owe them money and get calls just go to the branch office and take care of it.
- BoA yahI received a call from this number 866-231-4406, followed through thinking it was a valid call. suddenly it occured to me it might have been a scam and googled it. saw this post and decided maybe that was a bad idea and called bank of america. the representative claimed that in fact that is a valid number for a call center they use - that the message retrieved was relevant to my account and that there were no issue to be concerned with ie: identity theft, bank account access, etc. wrt this call or number... so either they're trying to play it down while they figure out who's spoofing them or its legit. my 2 cents - go to your branch and ask what's up - you can't be too safe these days.

- AI received a call from this automated service. Bank of America has informed me that they are investigating this number for fraudulent activities.
- Same sameSame as above, incoming # is 866-512-7171, recorded message says to call Bank of America back 866-231-4406; the name of the person they are asking for is clearly not me.
- Cora replies to concernedHey, you guys- this number is actually a true BOA number. It's the number with the Personel Checking and Saving's department for Overdraft.
I called BOA freaked out too, but it's OK, it's just to contact you about Overdraft. - ladytazRequested return call to 866-231-4406 return code 093630, the person they were requesting was not me.
- Skipsteroocall from 866 231 4406 saying it was a non-sales call from Bank of America. In the message, they were asking for a friend of mine who lives overseas and uses my address as a location for her US Mail to come to. They have called before. She does not have a B of A card or any connections to B of A. She also doesn't use my phone number, just my address, which leads me to believe that whoever is coordinating this effort simply looks up phone numbers based on mail addresses.
- Caller: supposedly Bank of America
- This is a fraud!I also just got a call from 866-231-4406 with an urgent messgae to call back for my important BofA message. I did call and it is CLEARLY a fraud. The first question they asked was for my SS# or three digit pin. I know better and did not give it to him.
- garymI got the call on my answering machine on Thursday. When the message started, the phonebot was already asking my machine to enter a language selection. I do not have an account with Bank of America. The name requested was not anyone in my household, and I've had this number for over two years.
Pay no attention to the sock puppets. Don't return the call unless you think identity theft is fun.- Caller: Allegedly Bank of America

- NotBoAThis scam's still going. I have had two such calls so far on my cell phone. Fortunately I only accept calls from numbers in my cell phone's phone book. I just got off a call with Bank Of America. They have no knowledge of this number. There was nothing wrong with my account either. This is definitely a scam.
- noeliaI received a phone call saying i should call back the number ending in 4406. i waited a few minutes and started researching the number while i was online. I hung up after finding this page and called B o A immediately and the rep said that they have many affiliates and don't know if the number was associated with them. In the end, the rep suggested i call back the number and find out what type of info they wanted. I called back and a lady picked up and asked me to verify the account by giving her my b-day and address. I thought, well oK if this lady really does have my account, she won't have to take any new info down and my address will be right in front of her. So i gave her my address real quick to see if she would ask me to repeat anything and i she did, i'd hang up. she then asked me how many checking accounts i had with them and i told her and after that everything went smoothly, she gave me info regarding my bank account and told me that my account was overdrafted by $5 (which it was) and wanted to know if i wanted to convert it into a student account. So yes, this number is legit ...
- noeliathat and they didn't even ask me for my account number, pin, or SS ... but for all you non-believers: just go to your branch and ask what's up ... just like the person said a few posts ago .
- damianFWIW, I just got the call, and called back. They were just asking me whether I was satisfied with their service. I decided to test them by asking about premier services, and they certainly seemed knowledgeable about account requirements. They asked me if I wanted to be connected to a service rep to set it up, and I declined, saying I hadn't made a decision yet. At no time did they ask for any sensitive information.
I'm guessing this is legitimate, but still wouldn't give any info to them.- Caller: Bank of America

- skytopReceived voicemail message asking me to call 1-866-231-4406 and gave a "message code" for me to dial in. Message said this was a courtesy call from Bank of America. Was connected to person who asked for my password, I gave it to her. She then asked for my driver's license number, I gave it to her. When she asked for my address I told her I didn't feel comfortable giving out so much personal information. She said "I understand, I'll put a note on your account and you can call the telephone number you know to be Bank of America". I asked what the call was in regards to and she said "I've put a note on your account, call BofA and they can tell you." Was afraid I'd given out too much info to a stranger. I called Bank of America and they indicated that the call DID originate from them and it was in reference to an overdrawn account. In this case, at least, the call was legit. But it's very disconcerting to be asked so much personal information to strangers. I encourage others to terminate their call earlier than I did and call the bank directly. Just wanted to pass this info on. :-)

- mseaco replies to JosephI agree with Joseph. That's way too much foolishness to go through!! I googled the number as they were calling my cell and was able to determine it was a scam before the idiots left me a false message! Any Bank of America customer can use the number listed on the back of their card[(800)432-1000] and be transfered to any appropriate authentic department of BOFA.
- JohnThis is really weird, got this weird call as well, but I live in overseals, and how would these people know I have a BOA account, and contact my overseas # which is not in America to give me this bs message... there has been a serious breach of security here... how did they obtain all our personal names, and phone #?S
- JohnOk, my account is not overdrawn, I called BOA they have no idea about this #, if this has been going on since last year, what is BOA doing to stop it, call the feds, and shut it down, what is wrong here.... where did they get all this personal info on all of us..........
- jogot a call from them today. 100% pure bull. They are NOT ban of America. After i received the call, i contacted BOA and they changed my info to avoid any drama. Why would a Bank call and ask you for your own information when they already have it?? I hope those [***] get whats coming to them for even thinking about calling people and trying to take things away from them!!
- Caller: Not Bank Of america
