These people have been calling my family members at their private business numbers asking for me but refusing to give any information. They also called me on a private, unpublished number that I pay good extra money each month to keep private for security reasons.

When I asked who it was she simply called herself "Mary" and refused to give me any information about why she was calling until she confirmed she was speaking with me. "Mary" got very antagonistic when I refused to give any information until she told me what her business was and when I finally admitted my name she slammed the phone down. Then she called my father at his office on a private line.

Her "in" seems to be that I have submitted an application for something with her company but she refuses to say what application, when or how it was submitted, what it was submitted for etc.

The number that you have referred to belongs to Skylink Financial. I think they're out of London, Ontario. They are a 3rd party collection agency. Good luck having them tell you on whose behalf they are working. It took me numerous calls back -- over the course of 6 weeks -- to get a straight answer on that one -- they just kept telling me that their client had enlisted their services to retrieve some money that they claimed I owed. I told them that, unless they specified for whom they were working there was no way that I'd start blindly sending them money. That's when this 'Mary' person began her harrassment of me -- calling me at work, at home, on my private cell phone. If someone else happened to answer my phone at home while I was out, she wouldn't give them a proper message and would, on a couple of occassions, get very hostile with them. When I demanded that I speak with her supervisor or manager because I refused to be treated in such a rude fashion, she also hung up on me. Then she contact my estranged ex-husband at his business on a private line. This continued for about 5 more weeks before I had enough and called to complain. I got her voice mail so I left a message that she'd best call me back ASAP or she'd be speaking to both the police and my lawyer for harrassment. She did eventually call me back and, after accusing me of avoiding her calls, finally detailed this debt I apparently owed. When I faxed her documentation to support the fact that the debt she refferred to had already been paid, she called to inform me that she was through with me -- no apology or anything.

Both 1-866-247-5559 and 1-519-850-0641 belong to SKYLINK Financial. I've received "missed" calls (I never pick up calls on my cell phone...outgoing only) from both of these numbers. According to the automated message on the 866 number, the person's name there is Mary Giles. Anyway, I think they are linked or work for MoGo Financial in BC since I also get calls from them looking for someone with a completely different name. I've already told MoGo to stop calling and that they have the wrong number. It took calling and hanging up non-stop on their 800 number for the manager to finally get on so that we can clear things up. It seemed to work as I told him if MoGo didn't stop calling me, I'll tie up his lines like he wouldn't believe. Now if Mary Giles doesn't get the message, she'll get the same treatment on her 866 number as well as calls to her home. Harassment works both ways!!!!!

O my god, the same name the same number, THANK GOD that we are not the only one, the same harrasment we have been through for over 2 weeks with the same number. She claims that we owe some money to some company which we heard for the first time......I guess the only solution is to treat them with police and lawyers... Thank you

Mary Giles kept leaving messages for me to call her back at 877-240-9998, which, when I did a search, turns out to be Skylink Receivables.

I noticed several complaints about her online, and was pretty irritated at her calls. I would call her back, and there would only be her voice mail there, I would leave a message telling her I had no idea who she was, and she would call back with the same (automated?) message.

I looked up Skylink and found this info:

    Skylink Receivables Inc
    Contact :
    (604) 574-5775
    Fax (604) 574-0955
    Address :
    Suite 200 17667 65a Ave Surrey, BC , V3S1Z8

If you call them directly, you can tell them to not call again. Which I did. And if it doesn't stop, I will be complaining to any and every authority about her and the company.

I encourage you all to do the same. And DON'T let them bust your b&lls!

I've been getting an automated message for the last year, it goes something like this:  "This message is for... 'incomprehensible name', this is 'incomprehensible name' at Skylink, please call me back at 1-866-247-5559 regarding your account".  I can't even make out the name they are calling for.  I've been ignoring the calls, but now am getting quite annoyed.  Has anyone gotten similar message and have they called back?

You do not have to answer or return their calls until they clearly identify themselves including first and last name of the individual calling you, who they are looking for and a reason why they are calling.
Anyone claiming that you owe them any money has to produce evidence of debt such as: loan agreement or any other agreement with the creditor, sales drafts or records of electronic transactions in case of credit cards, service agreement or similar evidence. Unless they clearly provide you with the above information you do not need to answer any calls, you have a right to receive the information in writing. Beware of people and companies that collect your personal information and use it to obtain loans or cards under your name, if the call is a legitimate company, they have and will provide you with sufficient information to identify the issue. You can also request that they send you information in writing by mail to the address they have on file, DO NOT provide your address or any personal details, as they may be just waiting for it to complete your profile and miss-use your personal  information. Identity theft is a multibillion dollar "business", since it involves every day people police and justice system do not really care, unless there is a big loss for a financial institution, do not count much on their help, you are pretty much on your own.  The burden of proof is on the creditor not the "debtor".
If you have an option to block the number on your phone or with your service provider from getting through to your line is a good idea as well. If callers are rude you can record the conversation and use it as evidence to file a complaint with appropriate authorities or use in court. You do not need to inform anyone that you are recording calls as long as you are clearly a party in the conversation. You cannot record calls in which you are not participating without permission of at least one party.

I received a call at work where the number was blocked from a female who stated her name was Michelle, from Skylink receivables in regards to a debt. When I was asking her questions about this she kept interrupting and wanting to know what I was going to do about the debt. She was very rude and speaking over me. She did give an account number and dates and amounts but kept demanding to know what Iw as going to do about the debt and threatened about the credit bureau.
I got fed up with her attitude and asked who her supervisor was and she refused to give it to me as she stated that had nothing to do with our conversation.
I am glad I found out about these other complaints about their attitudes and ways of doing business.
Even when I explained to her that I was going to have to verify the information she was giving and that I would have to call her back, she hung up on me.

This company tries to collect on old debt.  Under certain provinces in Canada, SOL is two years.  They are the bottom of the bucket for debt.  Report them to the proper authorities.

    My Experience Was Great.

If you people paid your bills you wouldnt be getting collections calls.. Its human nature to want to point the finger at everyone else but none of you take any responsibility for your actions.  Dont blame the collector's doing their jobs, blame yourselves because its noone's fault but your own.  From my experience dealing with collection agencies, and dealing with Michelle @ Skylink,  if your reasonable with them they are reasonable with you.  Think about how much crap they must hear on a daily basis from people trying to avoid paying what they legally owe..think about how many people swear at them and are rude to them for simply doing their jobs.  You people fail to mention that they are calling you repeatedly and are frusterated with you because you've lied to them or given them the run around..or have been avoiding them for years or hanging up on them..Collection agencies WILL help you if you ask..ask them for a settlement and they almost always have one available depending on your history with them..ask them for a payment plan and they will again almost always accept depending on your history with them..they have options and if you choose to be a responsible adult and ask for the help they are willing to give, you'll get allot farther than you are now by trying to avoid your bills.

Why interest is charged replies to Family first
Debt has risk, that is why they charge interest. If there was no risk there would be no interest. Family First is right on the money.  Financial obligation is to lenders (with risk) moral obligation is to family. Number block works on all phones. Once the applicable time passes you will be off their books.

I have been receiving calls from these [***] too. The number they are using is 613-686-3497,it is a cell phone number with rogers in Ottawa. Just the usual robocalls and bull crap about an urgent financial matter. They are bottom feeders who have been buying up stat-barred old loans and use the usual tactics to try and suck people in to get them to pay some money. They buy these debts for a few dollars so if they get even just one payment of 25,00 or 30.00 dollars they are making 5 to 10 times their investment. The easiest way to handle them is to ask them them to validate the debt and send you proof that you do owe the debt .They usually wont have anything more than a piece of paper with your name and amount and original creditor. Most of the time they will give up or sell it to another bottom feeder who will try the same crap with you. The idiots use tactics to scare you into paying and will try any lie to get to you. They are like the old saying about how do you know when they are lying ? their mouth is moving, they are to poster boys for that saying.I have had 5 of  these bottom feeders trying to collect on a 20 year old debt in the last 6 months. One tries then a month later it gets handed to another an so on.The main thing is to make sure the debt isn't valid and keep an eye on your credit report as they could try to sneak a judgement on you with you even knowing. The thing to remember is the people that work at these places and their managers are the lowest of the low and can and will use anything they can do to get to you.
