    Got a message. Said their from sam and associates. I called them back and it says south atlantic money management and associates. Googled their number and came up with nothing, googled sam and associates and got a insurance company but numbers did not match. Googled South atlantic money management and associates and got a website from sam and associates with other people saying their scammers. Who knows it's hard to distinguish real companies from scammers so i just ignore until i get something in writing.

    You guys need to get the peoples name ask for there bosses name. Try to play along with them until you find out what debt it is, and who is it from. Most of these companies are buying debt with just a year or even a couple of months left on them. Remember that after 7 years any unpaid debt gets dropped of your credit report. They also have to send you a letter 10 days before they start calling you about this. you can also ask for a debt verification letter. ((be warned, this gets them either angry or they will just hung up)) If its a real debt from a good company, they will give you all this info without any argument.

    CSR Coral Springs Resolution is another fake company that buys debt and tells you that you need to pay or they will sue. In reality if you are getting sued from a credit card company. You get contact by them right away. Not 6 or 7 years down the road.

    This company is 100% a scam.  They called me from # 484-893-8271 which is appears to be a local call for where I live.  So they are using some type of system to make the call appear local so that you will answer the phone.  No legit debt collector would do this because they don't need to.  Also I have never received anything in the mail from this company which by law they have to provide.  I don't know about other states but in PA(the state I reside) they company needs to provide debt validation within 5 business days of contact.  The debt they claim I owe, which I do not, isn't on my credit report.  DO NOT EVER PAY THIS COMPANY ANY MONEY.  If they keep harrassing you then do the following:

    1. File complaints with your states AG and the FTC
    2.If you can get a physical address of this company(most scam debt collectors won't provide you one or will only provide you a P.O. Box) then send them a cease and desist letter as well as a request for debt validation.  Send it by certified mail.

    This Was the # given to a friend of mine as a return call but they called from 518-314-7792.  She told them she wasnt me, and they continue to harass her.  I called it back and got some automated message.  She's getting very frustrated as she's answered and said I'm not her and they yell and say she's lying.  Hell she's over 1000 miles from me too!  I never had that phone #, Ever!

    got  a phone stating about loan back in jan 2010   4  yrs ago  stating I owe a balance to a internet pay loan . ok if I had got a loan and they deposit in my account they start taking it from my account to get paid back how would I owe if and unless I stop
    payments . how dumb is that.  The person who called name is Mr  Watley and did not give me much information of how much I owe what amount was taken from my account before payments stopped and what companies involved.  Well you know what until I get something in writing they can go to hell .  Take that [***] to someone who knows no better. My lawyer told me to do nothing they will take care of this problem and if I find out who is behind this  scam I will sue the [***] out of them. Now take that to the bank [***].

    I m delighted that I found this site, after reading "Sylvia's" reply. This company, calling themselves South Atlantic Money Management (SAMM) has been attempting this scam/extortion with myself and family. Someone calling themselves Ebony and Mr. Diamond, are very persistent. I got proof from my bank , times in question
    that I allegedly received two loans from "Cash Now" totaling $3,000.00 four years ago from their "client", is B.S.!!! First give-away, was the questions and statements made by "Mr.Diamond".This guy is one Dumb MF! He was making references to my being an unemployed paralegal, and back ground that check that even an man with a kindergarten education wouldn't make. I agree; wait until I see some legal documents signed by a Federal Judge and kiss my butt. I wish I could entertain the idea of suing these punks, however, I just think it would be like trying to sue a Ghost who sooner or later will be in a Federal Prison.

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    •is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    •refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    •asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    •exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    •Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
    •Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
    •Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
    •Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.
