- Tiffany| 3 repliesI just got the exact same call as all above. I was freaked out bc I never like being in any trouble and I kept telling them this has to be fraud and it wasn't me who had gotten "said loan on Jan 6th 2010" I first got a call from a "Jacob" and when i kept asking for more information the guy said "there is no reason to get rude" and hung up on me (I was not rude at all, just asking questions) so I called back and spoke to "Jason Diamond" who gave me his number and ext 1-866-248-8748 ext 1010. I advised what had happened and he offered to transfer me back to "Jacob" and I said no, I would like someone more professional or a supervisor and he kept telling me how weird that "Jacob" would never talk like that, he's never heard him be that way. When I was asking for specifics he said his office is in Ft Lauderdal, FL and that their main office is in Buffalo, NY. He said he couldn't give me much information other then the said online loan lender was "mycashnow" and I got 2 supposed loans for a total of $1,500 and that's ask but he would send my account to the investigator and they would be in contact with me. I immediately contacted my back and they assured me that it was a scam and they put my account on an administrative hold, which means they will keep an eye on my account for 90 days and will look at it every day.
What is scary for me is knowing someone had that much of my information. He gave me my full name, DOB, and the last 4 of my ssn and my bank instatute. What should I do next to make sure they do not take my identity?- Caller: SAMM aka South Atlantic Money Mngmt

- Monique replies to jennyHi,
I recently filed bankruptcy in November 2013 to be exact and it was approved by the bankruptcy I court in March 2014. I also received a vague voicemail from Sam and Associates and advised to call back to speak with their pre legal department. Well I know that Internet lenders were included in my bankruptcy filing, they continue to call me and ignore my request to contact my attorney. Therefore, I have two suggestions, 1 ask for their mailing address and once given tell them you will be filing a complaint against them with the BBB, and wait to address the issue once you receive something in writing. Besides they have my phone number so they should have address that was given on any application that " may have been completed" . It sucks - diana replies to peepI'm glad I googled this. South Atlantic Money Management has been harrasing me and actually sent me a bill in the mail that I supposedly owe from like 2008. I knew it was a scam cuz I've been harrassed non stop. ITS ALL A SCAM, DONT FALL FOR IT AND NEVER GIVE MONEY TO ANYONE.
- Malia CarnieGot a call from phone number 1-866-248-8748 man named Jacob Keiser called my cell phone and my work number saying he was calling from Sam and Associates. He stated I had given my work number for him to contact me, which I would have never done. Don't know how he got my work number.

- Mindi replies to TiffanyGot the call today saying I owe $350 on a payday loan from 2011. I've got several of these same types of calls the last few months. They somehow even got my Dads phone # and have been calling him too and his and I live on opposite sides of the country.
- SusanGot a call on my office phone (I'm the receptionist as well as office admin) and the caller id said SKYPE. Really? So I did answer and it was an automated message that had already started. The threat was if you don't call back we will proceed and it might not be in your favor or something like that, and then gave this 866 number. I think they usually spoof local numbers to scare people but apparently their software isn't working correctly.

- Interpreter replies to aynoMy gosh, this post is full of crap! First, how long something stays on your credit report has NOTHING to do with how long a debt is collectable. In most cases, debts can be collected from 4 - 6 years after they become delinquent (varies from state to state). If a judgment is obtained, it may be collectable for 10 years or more (longer if the judgment is renewed in the courts - again, varies from state to state). Collectors DO NOT have to send you a letter before they start calling you. They DO have to send you a letter within 30 days demanding payment and informing you that you may dispute the debt (pay attention to the timeframe for filing a dispute and do it IN WRITING).
There are other rights you have and items of concern. Check the FTC's website for more information. The federal law that regulates collection activities is the FDCPA. - EdGot a call from 850-226-5357 using this number and an extension as a "call back". They referenced a case number and something about reaching a decision. Assuming some kind of debt collector and will not return the call. I know for a fact I am debt free save for a financed vehicle that I am current on. Assuming they spoof numbers regularly hence the different call number.

- Pamela RomingAnother [***] call I'm going to ignore. Payday loans are a really bad idea. The harassment never ends; matters not whether you've paid them back. Applying for one puts your personal information out there.

- the fox| 1 replyMy hubby told me that a jacob kiser called me talking about arrest and taking me to court on 350 loan? I asked him where and who did I take out the loan with he said there was too many of them thru a third party. I told them to send it thru my email. Never did. But they sent it to my baby email. Like I told themwho and when he couldnt tell me. He just wanted me to pay something. I knew I had to do my homework and see they are scammers

- arborkissedReceived numerous calls from these people since March and continued for months. They harassed and threatened a lawsuit. Originally they said it was about my taxes, but then that turned into something about a credit card I supposedly had 5 years ago. They leave the tax message so you call them back. I think they are trying to collect on really old debts, or else it is just a scam. I don't remember the card they were describing. Anyway, they would call and tell me how awful I am or else say I was flagged in an automated message. I had requested paperwork, it was never sent. I finally opened a case with the FTC and they responded last minute and agreed to leave me alone. They said they would 'look' for the original paperwork. That was 2 months ago and I have received nothing and never heard from them again.

- arborkissed replies to the foxYou could also go to the FTC. I believe it is against the law for them to threaten you with arrest. This company is awful and they threatened me as well. I filed a complaint and they were forced to leave me alone.
- arborkissed replies to danya pardoThey have to serve you papers first, and I doubt they will. I read through the comments and it appears that they do that to everyone. I think they buy old debt and try to collect, even though it is no longer on a credit report. I would file a complaint.
