Woman pretending to be calling in regard to our Federal Student Loan (we don't have one) claiming she needs to discuss changes in our 'retainment options' or some such gobbledygook. She even provided a phony 'reference number' to make things easier to look up when we call back- like that's going to happen!

Woman calling about my Federal Student Loans (which have long been paid off).  Then some mumbling.   Then a fake 'reference number'.  Call is from CT.

Caller claimed to be Jessica Smith saying that federal student loan programs have changed and I needed to call back to discuss repayment. She also provided a fake reference number. I have never had a federal student loan so clearly a fraudulent call.

Someone named Jessica calling about student loan repayment options and gave a reference number. The number she called from was 1-555-800-2533 (Colfax, IA) but the number she gave to call back was 866-304-9669 reference # 099902

Woman claimed her name was Jessica Smith and stated that she needed to speak with me about repayment options for federal student loans. She even left a reference number of 099902. Caller ID said that it was from the state of Texas.

"Jessica Smith" left a voicemail telling me we needed to discuss changes on my student loan, but she didn't say from which borrowing company (I have 2 separate ones). I thought it was fishy that they would call me instead of email and without referencing which borrowing company, but I almost fell for it because there recently have been changes to my loans due to going back to school/deferment. When I tried to call the number back, I got a dial tone. I hope "Jessica" calls back today...

I just got a call from her too. She’s a scammer . I hope karma cowshed way. Stupid [***].

Same experience, did not say my name, left same reference number.

Same exact thing as everyone else, and reported it to the Federal Trade commission. I don’t want some poor freshman college student getting scammed.

Got the same call from Jessica Smith. She cited ref #099902. I needed to call back to discuss payment options for my federal student loan.  I don't have one and haven't ever.  It sounded like a real person.  How do people live with themselves doing these sorts of scams.

Received message (call from Bedford OH - 440-797-7181)  from Jessica Smith saying she wanted to discuss student loan repayment options (I've never had one). Asked me to call 866-304-9669 and gave ref # 099902 (same exact # other people who've reported her were given). Obviously a scam

Got a call from this "Jessica Smith" I have outstanding student loans regarding ref# 099902...pfffff doubt it! I'm 43 yo and never had one in my life. So I call the number from my "government entity" phone and sure enough, "Oh we're sorry we will remove you from our list". Then I start questioning where their based out of, director's name and I have a traceable phone line next thing you know I'm put on a 10 minute hold..SCAM don't call it back!!!

Wow, we all have the same reference number for our non-existent federal student loans!

She just left me a vm about my student loans. So glad I looked here before calling back.

Got a call from a Jessica Smith saying she needed to discuss my repayment options for my federal student loans. Seemed odd to get a call like that so I googled it and found this page. Same name, reference number, and phone number to call back. Crazy that people can be low enough to want to scam people who are already in debt to their school. DO NOT BE FOOLED!

That's the same reference number I was given!
