Hmmmm..... that air horn might come in handy!! Thankfully I don't have a kitty!

Got a call this morning.  Lady asked for my husband (using his whole name).  I said he was unavailable and I asked if I could take a message.  She asked when is the best time to reach him and she wouldn't leave a message.  That's when I realized it was a junk call.

My opinion...and I'm never wrong...is that it's NOT a junk call. It's a COLLECTION AGENCY hiding behind the Breast Cancer Society name!

This number 866-311-7847 called me 29 times today and it is only 4PM. How do you get them to stop? If I disconnect the phone then I can't get calls from my family or friends. I don't pick it up because it reads "Unknown Name" but I have to listen to it ring all day.

Recieved call tonight from 1-866-311-7847.  Did not answer, called back--this is a national breast cancer awarness organization--I got a recording when I called back describing the purpose of the organization.

Want donations for breast cancer. I told them I donate to my local cancer chapters. Caller was very nasty and abrupt. How do we stop these calls. They still continue to call.

Came up as "Out of Area".  I gather from the reports here that it is a call center ringing people to solicit donations for Cancer.  I suspect it is like many of these other donation solicitors... you make a donation and a huge percentage goes to the solicitation company and a very small portion goes to the "good cause".  I wish they would add these solicitors to the people blocked by the Do Not Call List.

These idiots keep calling me 3 to 5 times a week.They call late,the last call was at 9:42 at night.They either hang up when I answer or I let the machine pick it up and they click back and forth on the phone or scream HELLO about 8 times and hang up.

Received call, no message.

I got a live one this afternoon... mind you it is Sunday.  Kind of arrogant IMO for them to be soliciting donations on Sunday to begin with.  They call themselves Breast Cancer Society I think and only 20% of your donation goes to the charity with the other 80% being profit for them I gather.

Got a call from "The Breast Cancer Society" at 8pm tonight. She ran through her script and when I politely told her that I donated to other organizations she told me that was evil and I am going to hell. Then hung up on me. I have filed a complaint with the Do Not Call Registry since my phone number is registered there and I should not be receiving calls in the first place. I also called back the number and left a message to speak with a supervisor so I can complain. However, I am sure that I will not be receiving a call back.

Received a call from 866-311-7847 at 8:46 this morning ... was pretty ticked since I had just got to sleep from working nights ... and I'm sure that the lady on the other end didn't know that but .... when I said that I donate to the LOCAL Breast Cancer Society, she said, "Well, I understand that you can't donate to every organization so what I'd like to do is send out a card to you for your donation."  I interuppted her right there and told her that I didn't donate my money to any organization outside of our LOCAL chapters .... she insisted on sending out the the card so I told her to go ahead ... You have no idea how sorry I am to say this (I have the sweetest aunt you'll ever find and a very good friend battling breast cancer) but the card will be marked "return to sender" and put right back into the mailman's hands ... sooooooooooooo ... to the people from this phone number reading this????  Expect it back in about 7-10 days since this lady said I should receive it in 5-7 days!!  I think we all should do that ...

Just got this call on my business line, and I ignored it. I encourage everybody who gets them to type it into your google browser, find sites like this and let everyone know! UNSOLICITED CALLS ARE A PAIN!!

got called by this number I do not answer these or any I do not know I then proceed to put it on to my caller rejection so that they can not call any more then report the number to the national do not call registery and send in a complaint to it.

I've been getting calls from this phone number every day.  If I am at home, I answer and they never respond.  This IS a scam.  I've reported the number and the name of their organization (The Breast Cancer Society - no such thing) to the State Attorney Generals office.  I've also called and left them messages repeatedly to put me on their do not call list since, and this is the kicker, THEY have to pay for each call received since THEY are responsible to pay for the calls they receive to their toll free number.  You might want to try it:)  Let's see how they like it!

They will send you am email to complete confirmation of your email address. You must wait 30 days after registration to start using it, though. It does not happane automatic - so the sooner you sign up the better. I also recommend when you register to print out your receipt nd save because it does have an expiration date ;)

Carolyn, Never, NEVER, call back on a toll-free line.  Yes, they must pay for it, BUT.....and here's the kicker.  Once you initiate a call to a company, you give them permission to contact you.  

As far as I'm concerned, the DNC List has been a complete failure!

I don't have caller ID, but I did get two calls in about a week from the "Breast Cancer Society".  As far as I can tell, there is no such organization, so I told the lady she could send me a blank pledge card, and after I received it I would research her organization before deciding whether to pledge.  She said, "Thank you." and hung up.  I really hate to see breast cancer support money going to scams... my little sister was diagnosed with breast cancer last week.  :(

The number 866-311-7847 if answered as of 3-19-08 at 9:20 AM CST that I answered stated that they were calling from the American Breast Cancer Foundation and asked for no money over the phone, but to send a card through the mail for donations if possible.  The Google search came back to a legit. 501(c)(3) exempt charity at
