I never thought I'd be here again...

But, a couple of days ago, I got a 'hang up' from this number:  866-333-9772

It was a hang up but, as is my habit, I've filed complaints where they belong (you all know what that means).  Keep up those complaints.  There's a 'better than average' chance that these calls are for someone who lived at my address and hasn't lived here in some, oh, 8 years.  They hung up which means that they didn't recognize any names on the answering machine address.

This is all I have to say:  If you've got CID, use it and DON'T answer the phone unless you recognize the number.  If it's important, the laws of this country (USA) require them to notify you by USPS.  End of story.

from my experience, any money asked for over the phone is usually, 99% fraud. it's one thing if you have a Kohls card, and you know you're late on a payment, but they leave a message saying they're from Kohl's. and when you call that number back it connects you to Kohl's billing. the person calling from this number says they are from AJ Frank. I looked it up on google, and it is so generic a name, my search did not find anything legitimate., too many of these companies purchase old debts information and start fishing for dollars. if you can block the number just block it

At least they asked for a person.  I've gotten calls from these folks now since January, 215, and they don't ask for anyone.  They keep saying "You need to call us back...this is a debt collection call..." and there are several of us who live here.  They also call with the same message from another number, 509-473-0272 .  I looked up  this number and it appears that this number belongs to a public defender in Spokane County, WA state.

GRC is so confused...

'Greg', I hope you don't mind.  I took a screen shot of your post, along with the 800notes listing for this phone number, and I found the law firm that this number, the 509 area code number belongs to and emailed them that their phone number was being spoofed.

I do that sort of thing because I am Consumer.  Got it????

BTW, this law firm isn't a public defender firm - the work with work place discrimination issues.  Just so that you know.

is surprising since his ad states that he is a criminal defense lawyer.  So which is it?  And why are you so vested in reporting this to that attorney?  Just being a "consumer" doesn't really mean anything.

To any other employees of General Revenue who think about responding to me:  Take up your whining with this attorney.  If you had any legitimate claim to any debt collection activity, you'd be sending demand letters and contacting your 'legal team' (read, ACTUAL LAWYERS) to file law suits.  You wouldn't be calling people who probably don't owe anything spoofing phone numbers to lawyers who - as I was advised yesterday - know nothing about you and DON'T CARE TO KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT YOU!

Do you really believe that there is a "KatiK'?  I'm thinking that this was more (and much earlier) GRC shilling.  But, that's just me.

Haha, just found this while Google searching. That was me. I used to work for GRC. We weren't a scam, we just had to try to find people who didn't want to be found. People always think it's fishy, but there are dozens of laws we had to follow that forced us to act like that.

Trust me, there were legitimate "personal business matters" we handled, even if people played ignorant that they had no idea or thought it was fraud.
