I am in the process of a short sale. James told me the same thing regarding the one time fee of 199.00. He even gave me his direct number after I think about this. I need a another home but I am also scared of a scam. A lot of paperwork is involved between the buyer and seller. I am desperate because short sale will be final in about a month. Not sure what to do.

They do want a credit card over the phone and I am having difficulty researching them. I was hung up on twice when I asked for their company name before I gave them ANY info about me.I will continue to try and find out if they are legit.Don't give them any credit card info until you are sure they are a REAL company.

It took me several calls and being hung up on to finally get someone. What the ad says and what the person, in this case, Tony, said was totally different. I just want to rent, not rent to own. She wanted $190 to send me a list of forclosed homes that I can get myself for free. and they answer the phone saying "housing."

I saw an ad and liked the home so I called and was asking questions that needed to be answered and the representative was very rude and said I was wasting his time and hung up. I was making sure this is real and by the fact he hung up on me is making me think that this ad and the company is fake and scamming people for money.

This is a scam. When I called, they wanted the money for accessing their list (who knows how old the list is). But once I asked for more details of their business, they refused to give out their business name and address then hung up on me. Do not fall for this scam!!! Report them!!!

I called the same add, and they told me they were from American Standard Online, and there is a website, however the phone number is not the same. I looked up Your American Standard Online. this company is in California, and they operate all over the United States, the fee is still 199.00, but in looking the company up on the BBB, they are rated F and not accredited. there were 300 complaints, 297 closed through the better business bureau. it's not that a person can't buy the house, it is that the person ends up doing all the work, and there is no guarantee that the bank will allow anyone to assume the mortgage and property.

    the website; http://www.americanstandardonline.com/

Of course it sounds good. Before . . .you do anything, sign anything, pay anything, have an attorney look at the paperwork to see if it is legit.

You can get a list of homes in foreclosure from the local county courthouse for FREE.

This company is probably charging you for the same thing you can do yourself. It's not illegal, but why pay the money?

You can search through most realtor websites for free. There is also a multi listing for property.  Try
realtor.com.  Also look at home path.com. There is money available to fix up property. Do the research before you throw money away.

I called them today and man am I glad I did not give them my information. It is a shame that someone is out there trying to get your money and you are in need of a home.  That is lower than a snake underneath a wagon wheel.  Please do not give them any of your credit card numbers.  I will be reporting them.

As an attorney, I can assure you this is a scam. Do not give them a credit card number. No legitimate bank is going to loan you money for a home without a credit check. Companies like this prey on those with little to none or poor credit scores.

Poor credit does not make you a bad person. So do not get discouraged. But if you are looking to buy a home, clean up your credit first. I know that is not the answer most people want to hear and that is what companies like this one target - they make you promises that are too good to be true.

Here is your best bet. Get a copy of your credit reports (all 3) and do all you can to verify for accuracy and take care of everything you can. Then go to the bank you typically do business with. HONESTLY explain your situation with them and ask what you would need to do in order to qualify for a mortgage under the terms you want (amount of $ down, interest desired, amount, monthly payments, term, etc.).

They may tell you to get a larger down payment, or to payoff certain things on your credit report. Take their advice, rectify what you can, THEN go back to them. If you are a military veteran utilize the VA guaruntee if you can.

To give you the doown and dirty truth- if you want to buy a home with little to no money down and have poor credit - it will NOT happen. Again if you have poor credit it does not mean you are a bad person. Everybodies circumstances are different, but look at it from the lenders perspective. They are in business to MAKE money which means to minimize risk. If your job was to make money by loaning money to others you did not know, you would need to look at their credit - their history of paying bills. If that person has repos, unpaid bills, etc, it suggests a high risk. What is to say that person would pay back the money you loaned them? Then there are 3 other people lined up for loans and all 3 have great credit..... better risk. So that is what it comes down to. Does not matter if you are the nicest person in the world or the worst...they care about your bill paying HISTORY.

Make it look as good as possible before trying to borrow money and whatever you do pay ontime ALL the time. Do not end up in foreclosure. Don't forget other costs of home ownership - taxes, maintenance, insurance, utilities, etc.

Don't give up if you hae bad credit. Fix what you can and drive on. You will reach your goals eventually! Best of luck to all.

I just called, and inquired about a listing I seen on Craigslist.  The lady on the phone said she was in California, and would send me further information via email.  When I ask what was the name of her company, she stated, American Standards and that she would send me a link to get more information from them.  When I got the email, all she sent was the link to there website.  When I continued searching on them, I found the scam information on AmericanStandardsOnline.  If you want to read more on their scam information I found, view the below link:

No need for me to search further, plan on leaving them alone and wanted to share this with you.  Good luck in your search for a new home to rent or buy.
