- TK| 3 repliesI have recieved a call from the PBC and although there was an accent, I found it quite charming and the caller and I were able to understand one another very clearly. He also was very helpful in trying to work out a payment arrangement. The scary thing was when I decided to call the number that they gave me back just to prove it's validity. They answered before the phone even rang and they knew exactly who I was without me having to punch in any information in any IVR. It was almost like they had a home caller ID or something. Needless to say, I can't shake the feeling that something is shady. They said to make payments out to PBC of Maryland but the payment address is in California. Shady business! Also when I google PBC I get no collection agency info. Shady!

- ScottReceived another call from this number on my work line. I have reported it on the ftc website, as well as the Kansas State Attorney General's Office. Apparently, there are many complaints against these people, as the Attorney General's Office advised me that they are currently under investigation, and that I should report to them each time I am called by these people.
- Red Dot replies to Debt CollectorWho are you curry slurpers to talk to us about ethics? Are you even aware of the practices many of these companies you work for follow? Never mind the fact that many Americans most likely lost their jobs here in the US so said company could save some money on you and your band of Indian brothers... You don't care though, as long as you get your 4.00 USD/hour you'll find any means for justifying what you do. Hmm, I'm in the mood for a good beef sirloin burger. I think I'm going to go buy one using my credit card that I'm not going to pay off.
Thank you, come again. - owe you nothing replies to Debt Collector From PBCthey keep calling me for someone else! i have told them I have know idea who it is and to remove my number yet they call me 2 or 3 times a day!
- TX Stone replies to MattLaw states that they can call between the hours of 8am-9pm Monday thru Saturday and 9am-9pm on Sundays. I agree, they shouldn't be allowed to call on Sundays. Banks and financial institutions don't operate on Sundays, so why the heck should I pay something on a Sunday.
- oldchuckles| 3 repliesThese guys are scammers from India. Do not cooperate. Contact your local police or the FTC and file a complaint. Don't give these curry slurpers your social security number under any circumstances!!!

- sa berns replies to oldchuckles| 1 replyHow do you know this, where did you get your info. I would love to have more info on them since I too am getting calls from them
- diehard22| 1 replyi also have been receiving harassing call from this number - once last year where an agressive person was insisting to make immediate payment arrangements and would not provide me with additional information so i could see if in fact i owed this as this vehicle has not been in my possession for over 11 years? i have never been contacted by any collection agency prior to this. i was also next to my mom in the hospital and not at home so he conferenced my husband who was and instead of me being able to look and see if we had any information in our files he again just started asking for bank account information or credit card - we hung up on him. this last month i have received calls at home, work and cell from someone who sounds asian - i have repeated asked for documentation regarding this debt and given them an email where i have not received such documentation. i don't know how to get them to stop calling and its becoming annoying. the same voice says his name is carl and today it is ram. same phone number as before and i can't find nothing on this collection agency in maryland but found nothing but lawsuits and this site regarding them. so i don't think they're legit. glad i found this.

When they call back tell you know about the scam and have filed charges. - nessThey are a debt collection agency. I answered the call once a few months ago and found out that they were calling for my friend. I told them that it was my cell phone and not his. They stopped calling for a while but now they call everyday, sometimes 2-3 times a day. They even called this morning (Saturday) at 9:52 am. I don't answer their calls anymore. I hope they stop calling me; I'm not even the one they are looking for.

- AlfalfaUnder the TCPA, a consumer has a right to file a lawsuit and recover $500 for each call that violates the TCPA. The TCPA can also be used in conjunction with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in some situations.
Generally, the TCPA does not apply to debt collectors making collection calls to debtors. However, if you are subjected to calls from a debt collector and you are not the debtor, you may file a lawsuit against the debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the TCPA.
This right was recently recognized by Judge Legrome D. Davis in a case called Watson v. NCO Group, Inc. NCO Group is a debt collector that uses automated prerecorded collection calls. In this case, Mr. Watson alleged he was getting hundreds of calls from NCO Group after he got a new phone number. Mr. Watson claimed he owed no debt to NCO Group, Inc. Mr. Watson filed suit under both the FDCPA and TCPA.
David Israel, defense lawyer for NCO, argued that the TCPA should not apply to debt collectors. Judge Davis rejected the argument made by David Israel. The judge ruled that Mr. Watson had a right to sue NCO Group Inc under the TCPA for $500 for each call. Judge Davis wrote;
[The] Court is convinced that a non-debtor's rights are in fact violated when he is subjected to repeated annoying and abusive debt collection calls that he remains powerless to stop.
Judge Davis' ruling was based upon his interpretation that collection calls to non-debtors violate the privacy rights provided by the TCPA.
So what can you do if you receive "wrong number" calls from debt collectors?
1. Sign up for the Do-Not-Call registry.
2. Save the calls captured by your voice mail or answering machine.
3. Contact a consumer lawyer.

and two unknown calls that I am sure were both from them. - Debt Collector| 3 repliesIf you don't want these kinds of calls pay your debts. And for the idiot who said it's illegal to call on Sunday ... you're an idiot. Get an education. And it's not a scam, you owe the money. Stop being a debtor and pay your bills. Granted it is a really [***] company, one of the shittiest companies I've ever heard of, but none the less, it is a real legit company. It's only a scam to those who don't want to pay their debts. We already have all your info, we don't need to call you to scam it out of you. Plus, you have to remember, your credit is probably so [***] already that anyone scamming you might actually help your credit (because you're certainly not)
