- Another multiple call receiver per day| 1 replyI attempt to get it on the second ring to disconnect; if my answering machine comes on there is never a response although they hang up first.
Attorney friend, probably as a joke, advised me to 'call forward' to the nonemergency number of the police department during their 'scheduled' call times.
Might just do it although I think I'll have to prove I was enroute if that gets them riled. - CGAlso getting these. Try #60# if you have call screening service (that's what AT&T calls it).
- CG replies to Another multiple call receiver per dayWould be nice to be able to call forward back to their own number. The thing with call forwarding is that it forwards all calls, not just specific ones unless your service is different than ours.
- BostonThe Attorney Generals Office in MA is all over these scumbags if you live in MA call the Attorney Generals Office they are super helpful... I was shocked they got back to me but they are actually standing up for the residents of MA not being treated like scum because we have fallen on some hard times!

- MelissaSame story here. Non-stop calls to my cell and now my work number. I guess the consensus is to send the written letter via certified mail. How annoying!
- Caller: Alliance One
- Al replies to Free Willy866-367-6660 I received many calls from them and finally I called them they were very nice and they said they removed my business number from the call list they wanted to know if I knew or had a client named Quan as a mutual client I said no since I know who most of our clients are that is a working client. And that name does not ring a bell. They were correct in identifying my company name but nothing else. They are a financial services company like bankruptcy or something. Maybe they gave a wrong name. But we have no connection that I can figure and asked for the call number taken off.
You ask them to remove it after they ask you questions. - mikeTotally crazy. If they are debt collectors and if they are real then when you answer the phone they should talk! They should not be exempt from anything they are stupid. If you answer they do not talk if you call back they hang up ....WTF

- Gary replies to SteveUh...Steve,
It's a toll free number.
The 866 number is in place in so that callers to that number are not charged, instead the owner of the 866 number are charged. Consider this, if you had an accident while across the country and needed to reach your insurance company they likely have a toll free number which could be an 866 number.
If these numbers worked/charged as you suggest, there would be millions of (unscrupulous) people clamoring for 866 numbers and the rest of us would never get a moments peace, we'd just have one non-stop ring. In fact once upon a time it did work that way, but those type numbers must now notify the caller they are going to be charged and allowed the caller an option of hanging up before charges begin to accrue. - SFI am getting calls from this number. Every days several times. They are always looking for an Eddie Nguyen. A few times I answered and told them he doesnt live here. Today they got rude. They said they would remove the number - that was months ago. Can we sue them!

- German in TexasHy everybody,
i'm a german who recently moved to Texas and I'm recieving these calls as well. Just recently they were asking for somebody named Bruce, and by coincidence a Bruce was at my place, so I told them to wait until I get him to the phone. Before Bruce had a chance to talk to them, they hung up. The last time I told them " Ich spreche kein Englisch. Sprechen sie Deutsch?" (I don't speak Englisch. Do you speak German?) The Lady answered: "No, I don't speak dutch!" and hung up. I think they are just stupid no-brainers trying to earn some money somehow. I just look at the caller ID and if it's their number, i simply let my answering machine do it's job. - styymyReturned a call to this number from a caller named David Miller who left a message asking for someone else. I called this number and it said Nationwide Insurance, but unable to get a speaking person. I was Prompted to press 0 for an operator, but nothing but the same recording saying they were Nationwide Insurance over and over. Suspicious.
- Caller: Nationwide Insurance???
- Chicagoland Working GirlI run a retail store by myself and have been interrupted by these phone calls every day for the past two weeks. We are supposed to answer the phones with a company greeting, but the person always hangs up almost as soon as I begin talking. This has been happening at least twice a day, often while I'm in the middle of paperwork or talking with a customer. So the way I see it the people calling must know they have the wrong number. Either that or they think I am the person they are looking for just pretending to work in a store, but if that were the case why wouldn't they say anything or at least try to communicate with me?
From other posts it sounds like these people would rather spend their time dialing and hanging up rather than being successful at their job. The stories people are sharing make these people working in their call centers sound completely inept. They are wasting their own time as well as ours, and whoever owns the company is wasting money allowing it to be operating in such a way. If I can ever reach them on the phone I plan to share my readiness to file a complaint with the FTC. Hopefully that will get the issue resolved without actually having to file the complaint. Unfortunately, from reading other people's experiences with getting a representative on the phone I expect to have to send Alliance a letter I found posted here: www.privacyrights.org/letters/debt6.htm
Briefly, this letter requests that the company adhere to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act which requires a company provide proof when requested that your name and phone number are rightfully associated with the debt owed. If they acknowledge receiving the letter but cannot provide proof the calls should stop, otherwise you have grounds to sue.
While most folks don't have the resources to sue (I know I don't) if nothing changes I will have a copy of this letter to include in my compliant, which I also found out here I can file at: www.ftccomplaint.gov- Caller: Alliance
