I got the Birthday notice from United on 12/14, with possible Thrifty rental if I call within 48 hours.  Back of the Boarding Pass refers to All Points Travel in my area (Bham AL).  Just an ad, folks...

I received the promotion in the mail for my birthday from united with their logo not united airlines. On the back of the sample boarding pass the address reads travel sponsor and an address out of Dayton Oh. I live close to Dayton, I am assuming its for a hotel. I will try and trace the address.

I recieved a budget car rental happy birthday card offering 2 free rountrip tickets on any major airline, and a week of free car rental if we would call 1-866-396-3279. I did not call, but it's obvious from the experiences below using different car rental companies and different hotel addresses that this is a bogus phishing scheme.

Got this as a cheap printed birthday card. Same travel as every one else except my provider didn't have a name; just an adress 100 W Michigan Ave, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. Definately bogus and a scam.

I received a Happy Birthday card with this 'phone number offering airline tickets to and from anywhere in the continental United States and a 7-day car rental from Budget. At the bottom of the page is the Budget car rental company logo, making it appear as though the offer comes from Budget car rental company.  No other company name appears in the letter, but the return address on the outside of the card is CP from a PO box in West Palm Beach FL.  I called Budget customer service and they said it is not their offer.  Any offer signed by someone else's logo is obviously bogus or unethical and misleading.  Destination:  Trash can.

On the back of a "sample" boarding pass in the card, the Travel Sponsor is identified as a hotel in another state.  It warns "certain restrictins may apply", and you "are responsible for all taxes, fees and deposits".

Here is some advice from a sate consumer protection agency regarding a nearly identical promotion:

In order to “qualify,” the caller was required to answer questions about their income, marital status and age, and was told they must attend a 90 minute presentation at a hotel.  Consumers who have attended similarly-promoted presentations report that they encountered hard-sell tactics encouraging them to join a travel club costing thousands of dollars, and that if and when they finally received their air travel voucher, they learned that they had to pay taxes and fees of $100 per person or more. In addition, many travel dates were blocked, and travel “restrictions” included a requirement to fly out on a Monday or Tuesday and return that Thursday

received letter in the mail stating qualification (award) for an 8 day/7 night carnival cruise.Oh, and they even throw in two roundtrip airline tickets worth $1,998.00. Of course I will not be calling the number (866-396-3279) letter dated 1/31/14.

I received the same letter (8 days/7 nights cruise + free round-trip air)  The return address on the letter is:

    Cara Langley
    1648 Taylor Road #464
    Port Orange, FL 32128

The signature on the letter is unintelligible.

Googling the phone number, I found a BBB page that says the phone number is for All Points Travel, but is in a hotel in Huntsville, AL?
    http://www.bbb.org/northern-alabama/business- ... le-al-900079999

It appears the same number was used recently for a US Airlines promotion (which I also received.) There is no US Airlines...

I had some relatives that took a cruise recently and were sorely disappointed., Considering the cruise lines recent records (groundings, foundering, and sickness), who would chance it?
