- mdnMessage left - IMPORTANT - an attempt to collect a debt. Caller-ID said the call was from 202-370-7028 but 'Ms Bundy' said to call back at 866-421-4920. Reasonable enough, I suppose, but I don't owe anybody anything.

- CJGot a voice mail message - female speaker. Said to call back right away about a personal matter. Caller ID said 201-942-4106, but message said to return call to 866-421-4920 and that it is an attempt to collect a debt. From reading some of the other posts, it looks to me that they are going after people with clean credit and trying to get info for an identity theft scam. This is the third time they called me, First two times were a male caller. For curiosity's sake, I looked up info on debt collection. There is a statute of limitations on old debt, differs by state. Also, once a debt collector contacts you, they are required to get in touch by writing within, I think it was 4 days, So, if anyone out there does have an old debt, check your state's statutes of limitations.

- Cari| 1 replyIve received calls from this company several times. As this is a work number and I KNOW I don't have any outstanding debt, I called back to see what they wanted. I actually redialed the local number and was sent to their main call number. A guy asked if I was Heather so-and-so, which is the name they've used before. The guy was actually pretty nice to me when I told him that not only was I not this person, but I had worked for this same small organization for 7 years and had never heard that name and the girl that had this cell phone before me didn't have a name that sounded like that. Either they are callin based on someone owning this number at least 4 years ago or someone listed my number as their number, knowing debt collectors would call. The guy I spoke with said he would be sure to change the info that this was not a number for Heather.......but they are back at it and calling my phone AGAIN!!! I'm reporting them to the FCC now.

- Sam| 1 replyI just got a call from a local 414 number. Woman said she was attempting to collect on a debt. Then left a message to call 866-421-4920. I have no debt. I don't even have a credit card. Have not had one in at least 12 or 13 years. But I do know if you do owe something, and call inquiring about the call, they can start the debt collection process all over again, if it was past limitation statute in your state. Be very careful. Just ignore the call or report them to your Attoney Generals office. Let them handle these scammers.

- DavidA friend got a call from these folks and they left the 866-421-4920#. Looks like they bought really old debt. If I am right, this number goes with Dynamic Collectors out of Chehalis, WA. Kevin Klumper is listed as the owner. You can find his Chehalis address in the white pages online. Tell Kev how much you enjoy the phone calls.

- KINGThis is some company called Dynamic Recovery Solutions (also will use LOCAL 904-647-2676), with a " Mr Poe, Mr Wolfe,Ms Craven, Ms Bundle" or whoever else they choose to be at the time. they state its a attempt to collect a debt, but then they can't or won't give you all the info on the debt( which is usually something older than 5 or more years) and try and strong arm you into paying it then or making some settlement arrrangements. check them out, and don't give any personal info.

- JJ| 1 replyI received a voice message from "Mr Poe" at 949-398-2022 stating that I needed to call regarding an urgent matter. He went on to tell me I needed to call 866-421-4920 regarding a debt collection. He left no company name, amount, or on who's behalf he was trying to collect. My debit is under control so this left me curious.
I went online to cross check the numbers. I found this number leads to a fraudulent collection agency. There seems to be a "Mr Poe" and a "Mrs Craven" who pop up regularly and call from various numbers across the U.S. Some starting with 417, 312, and 216 area codes. I further found that one woman reported that they had the last 4 digits of her social, a copy of her credit report, and her home address. Accounts seem to be linked via phone number. So I went on even further in my search. First National Bank if Marin and Dynamics Recovery are the only two companies found with relation to the 866 number. I even called the phone numbers and no company name was given. I checked with the Better Business Bureau and they do not have "Dynamics Recovery" listed. My best guess is that this company (for lack of a better term) is just hunting people down to see what they can get. Stay away or gather more info from them and turn them in.

- Resident47 replies to CariNow you know why I keep harping on this one point: Do not rely on verbal demands to a debt collector. They can and will be ignored. Maybe your rep "was actually pretty nice", but he doesn't control his boss or the call center's autodialer.
My long form advice for "not me" cases is found here:
https://800notes.com/forum/ta-34af6a034ba34b6/unending-collection-calls
Note that since my comments last year the cost of a simple notice sent USPS CMRR has risen to $5.75 .... still cheap insurance. Note also that the FCC has little say in the matter. Regulation of debt collectors has been the FTC's job for over three decades, and the CFPB has begun sharing the duty. - Resident47 replies to SamThat initial call to you already began the "debt collection process all over again". Whether or not you act upon it makes no difference. The agency is permitted to try collecting even if the account dates back to the Ford administration. Being "out of stat" doesn't stop phone calls, dunning letters, or lawsuits. (... unless you live in the two states with a Statute of Repose) You must still take action to protect your assets and restore peace.
A certain paranoia surrounding Statutes of Limitations (SoL) comes up in consumer forums fairly often. The mere fact of answering a collection call does not mean agreement with a debt claim or an excuse to reset the SoL clock. Realistically you will be unable to defend your rights without making some form of contact.
How you behave during contact is what counts. It is wise to guard what you say and to direct the flow of information one way only, from the nasty collector to you, and see (rather than "just ignore the calls") if you catch any FDCPA violations. If you can't handle this, stay strictly on a paper trail.
If/when you get the initial dunning letter, respond on paper with a dispute per your federal rights. Bear in mind that expired SoL provides a killer defense which the alleged debtor must raise if sued. The threat of suit over sufficiently aged debt creates a FDCPA violation, thus another defense or a cause of action if the alleged debtor wants to be a plaintiff. - Resident47 replies to JJThe full business name was reported by Proteus a couple weeks ago. The message you heard was not necessarily part of a blind asset fishing trip. You don't need a valid debt or a derogatory trade line on your credit reports to be hassled by debt collectors. They call third parties to alleged debtors all the time for permitted skip tracing purposes, or often pretending it's a trace to annoy and shame an intended target whose location is already known.
Legally you cannot be told anything beyond a name of a rep and a business name until you are identified as the alleged debtor. I'm guessing you got a "Foti message", which tries to have it both ways on the twin FDCPA mandate for privacy and disclosure. Agencies have been sued many times over both rules, and when one is ignored to favor the other. - Resident47Whether you are called a debtor or some collector thinks you can flush one out, you have rights and options. Many are simple to exercise if you only learn how. You are granted control of how you are contacted, the right to dispute debt claims, and the means to sue violators at low cost. The FTC and the CFPB can start you on your homework. See also if your state laws grant additional or stronger rights.

http://www.consumerfinance.gov/guidance/supervision/manual/fdcpa-narrative/ - Sunshine replies to MaggieMy phone call came from 616-723-9988 but 1-866-421-4920 was the number left on my voicemail. I couldn't understand the name of the man calling but he said it involved debt collection. I called back just to be rude!!! The woman called me a child, because my debt isn't paid...she called me irresponsible and many other things but could not tell me when this $1200 in debt was incurred! Guess that's because it never was! Needless to say I will be reporting both numbers to the better business bureau and police for further investigation.
- WILDERHA replies to CharlyMy call also came from either a Mr Pope or Mr Poe. Came from a local cincinnati number but gave 866-421-4920 as the call back.
- ELCJust got a call from local Baton Rouge, LA number on caller ID...225-372-7326. Asked that I return the call to 866-421-4920. Said it was about collecting a past due debt. I have just bought a new home and my credit was inspected heavily. Passed with flying colors. This DYNAMIC RECOVERY SOLUTIONS is obviously a scam.
