- Arthuro replies to PeterIt's CVS Caremark. I just got a call and it was about my pending query.
- JimThey (CVS) are sharing this # with extremely slimy Russian/Chinese/Indian scammers -- they pretend to be polite (for a while) but are as creepy as they come. And really, who cares if telemarketers pretend to be polite -- they are ignoring DNC orders to begin with...Losers, thieves, bottom of the barrel scum. They steal your passwords. You've been told. Believe it's CVS if you want but you'll find out when guys call trying to sell you drugs or "Windows help" or whatever. They are losers and probably will die from it (this level of loser will only self-destruct) -- but you'll be without e-mail for a while since they take over your IP address.
- Caller: "Windows"
- Call type: Telemarketer
- JimSCAMMERS!!! They will steal your e-mail password and make it theirs. Beware! Maybe sometimes CVS but not always. These guys should get a real job -- they've been calling me for at least 5 years. They are scum.

- NancyAutomated message identified self as Cvs Caremark. Said my name and asked yes or no this is she. Asked for my year of birth and I entered it. Said they have sent several renewal notices to my Dr and I should follow up to have dr supply order info requested. Didn’t give name of med or dr name. I’m due for annual appt for dr and new scrips. I called the number I have for Cvs Caremark and spoke to a csr. They didn’t have a message like that for me. I called my local Cvs which is where I normally do business and they were not pending any such info. I called the number back and got the same auto message as original call. I hung up. Not sure if scam but they got Yes and year of birth and already have my name and phone#.

- Alyssa PThis number called and hung up, then called again. I attempted to answer the 2nd time, but they hung up again and dialed a 3rd time. I ignored the call and let it go to voicemail, where I was told there was some information regarding a prescription of mine from CVS Caremark and they provided a 7-digit code. Indeed, I had a prescription renewal request that was recently canceled, so I called back. An automated recording asked me to verbally confirm whether or not I was "Alyssa P" with a "yes" or "no." I was immediately uncomfortable with this so I hung up. Judging by all the other comments, this number could be hit or miss with whether it is actually CVS Caremark.

- PaulaFinally I picked up after several calls from this number. They said they were CVS Caremark about my recent prescription and have not heard back from my doctor and asked that I call him to expedite the prescription. Left a number for the doctor to call. Sounded legit. I will call my doctor on Monday to see if he has been contacted by CVS Caremark. It does coincide with the refill that I put in last week for a mail order prescription.

- Anne866-430-1891 is actually a CVS Specialty phone number. I was just on the phone (800-237-2767) with CVS Customer Care administration. The first representative I spoke with listened very politely to the complaint I had about both CVS Caremark and CVS Specialty not having ANY identifying information shown on Caller ID screens of both landline and cell/mobile phones. I even had her listen to a saved message on my landline.
CELL/MOBILE shows toll free number and "Unknown".
LANDLINE shows toll free number and "Unavailable".
MESSAGE left on landline says, "Is this Anne or the authorized caregiver? After the chime please say yes or no." (Which, of course, I will not do.) I later learned that this particular number (not the one we are discussing) was a legitimate message because I checked the caller ID number on the phone using the day & time of the message and found the "Unavailable" toll free number. Then I checked it against the number on my insurance card. It was the same.
The first rep transferred me to a manager. She was very understanding, too. She advised me they use various toll free numbers to try to keep up with the numerous customers/patients so that those people won't have to be on hold so long. I reiterated again that they should simple put the name of their Pharmacy on the Caller ID, so that it won't be blocked and customers could see who the call was from. That could save thousands of problems right there. In addition, NOT having the name of your business is completely unprofessional, and asking you to say "Yes" on a recording machine is advised against by the AARP and Homeland Security. She is sending the information to their technical department. We'll just have to wait and see if their teckies get it done.
HOWEVER, another problem is that phone numbers can be spoofed. Many times incoming calls show numbers in your local area making it appear that someone close by is calling you. In reality that call could be from France, or anywhere else. Those are spoofing phone calls. Robocallers use spoofing, which displays a phone number similar to your own on your caller ID, or a business number, to increase the likelihood that you will answer the call.
With all that said, it might be the real thing, or it might be spoofed. That explains why many people are saying it's real, and lots of others are saying it's a scam.
Both are true.
And remember, insurance companies quit using social security numbers for their patient ID numbers years ago and Medicare finally quit recently. Therefore, you no longer are required to provide that information when talking to any insurance company or any other medical facility. You should give alternate information, such as the ID number on your insurance card, date of birth, address, etc., but NOT social security number. You may get a long-term representative on the line from the "old school" who might ask for your SSN, but you should gently remind them that we are now advised by Homeland Security to NOT give out that information, and it's not necessary for your medical care.
It's necessary for a prospective employer to do a background check on you for employment purposes, and it's necessary when you call the Social Security Administration.- Caller: CVS Specialty, CVS Caremark
