It appears that Joseph is at it again only in Utah this time.  Called my cell number and said it was about a check I wrote & it was for security purposes.  Funny thing is that my cell # is not on my checks so how did they get my cell number?  the quote below is one I copied form a posting above with the same comments in my message.  Only difference is that the call was from 801-682-4052 .  This # is in Kaysville Ut, but there is not listing of such a business.

FRAUD

Stated his name was Joseph and he needed to verify some information on a check for security purposes... I don't write checks, nor do I owe money to anyone. SCAM

Things about a check I wrote and needing to verify. I have not written checks in over 7 years! Has anyone successfully sued them yet?

This is EXACTLY the voicemail I got today, except that the number he's calling from is 972-746-2581 in Irving, TX.

I too, owe Ace money.  I have dealt with some horrible men calling me, threatening me at work, to the point of me in tears.  they wanted me to send money through western union.  i refuse to do that.  it does not seem legit.  i'm not really sure what to do, all i know is that this company bought my debt from ace, and call from different numbers and company names once in a while.  thank god I am the secretary at work, so i get all of their calls.

if i could set up a payment plan with someone who treats me politely and with respect, and i knew the money was going to pay my debt and not to some whack person through western union, i would be more than happy to pay this.

there is no check that needs to be verifies, you guys.  this is a tactic to get you to call, so that you can pay a debt you may/may not owe.

THEY WON'T ACCEPT PAYMENT PLANS!  they are rude!  they threaten to have is arrested and our wages garnished.  one guy actually told me he would send someone from the "county" to EMBARRASS me in front of my workplace, family and friends.  Also, I refuse to go send $$$ to some random person/place through western union.  COME ON. If debt collectors were as polite as you are writing this post, then yes, things would go a whole lot smoother.

"BILL COLLECTOR" you HAVE to understand what's going on here.  it's awful and unacceptable.

I received a call today about a John Selsor, Buffalo MO. They said Mr. Selso put me down as an "associate". Mr John Leroy Selsor is a registered sex offender in Buffalo Dallas County Missouri. The only possible connection is my daughter rented a mobile home over 10 yrs ago where Mr Selsor was the manager. The company stated they were a legal firm, they are a collection agency that has been sued by the state of Nevada more than once. There are cease and desist orders on file, you can find them on the internet. They said they would remove my number immediately.

How they made the connection between Mr Selsor and me is beyond me. The jump from one of his renters to me has to come from any rental application or just a plain scam.

They are scum. They try to collect on payday loans and bad checks. They will lie to you.Do not cooperate with these people. Ask for written documentation. They must supply the info in writing. Then in order to be sued you will have to be served by the sheriff of your county. There are also statue of limitations on this type of debt. 7 years is the norm, but check your state. Do not be intimidated. Ask them for written proof. Then just don't talk to them anymore.

I wrote a letter to the state of Nevada regarding these people.  Lo and Behold I got a letter from FFG and associates saying my name was removed from the data base.  FFG insisted that I owed this money and when I fought them they backed down because they don't want the Feds after them.  Do your freaking research.  These people are scum and know how to intimidate you because they don't think you will report them.   They messed with the wrong person here and I reported them and they are gone from my life now.   Report report report them

This message is to TopDog...your company does not attempt to send anything in writing...my husband lost his job over a year ago and we had to stop paying everything except for the house so we wouldn't lose that...I have kept a record of every collection company that has contacted us and have contacted them in writing letting them know the situation and that I would continue to keep them up to date as to when I would be able to make good on our debt...all of them that I have contacted are willing to negogiate or hold our accounts until that time...so for you to say that you send out 1 to 3 letters first is bulls*t because I haven't received anything from your office to this date and I do not return calls to messages that don't leave a name of a company or the reason for the call...I know I have bills to pay, but at least I am being honest with the companies I deal with not like your company, that by the looks of this post...don't follow any laws!  And so you know, your calls will be recorded when you contact me and a complaint will be filed until I get something in writing.

I am aware of this company.   Have a friend who works there.

Here is how it works.......

Joseph, and other messages are done by an automatic dialer. They call out early in the morning and leave messages,.

If you call in, they are told to tell you "hi my name is blah blah from CFG, unfortunately your case has been referred to my office, and is in pre-litigation status, if order to keep this from escalating, we need a payment on this account today, in full, or arrangement"...  

MY SOURCE TELLS ME, THAT THIS DEBT HAS BEEN CHARGED OFF FROM THE ORIGINATING COMPANY, AND PICKED UP BY CFG, and you will NEVER GET PROSECUTED for this. This is simply a SALES PITCH and CFG is trying to recoup their INVESTMENT into these COLLECTION LEADS.

IT IS ILLEGAL, or INADMISSIBLE IN COURT OF LAW, recorded phone conversations. ALL THE STUFF YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT is  HEARSAY.  UNLESS A CLASS ACTION SUIT is filed, your civil case is worthless. No compensation will get given or gotten.

HERE is what YOU SAY to try and stop them from HARASSMENT.

"I'VE OBTAINED AN ATTORNEY IN REGARDS TO THIS MATTER, I WAS TOLD NOT TO SPEAK TO YOU, AND IF YOU KEEP HARASSING ME, I'M REPORTING YOU TO THE FTC" and request to speak to a manager.  

Their names are, Mark Roche, and Blake Johnston. Be specific and this will jolt the sales people who all also use FALSE names.

BTW: Ask for WRITTEN PROOF.  They can not GIVE it to you therefore they can not collect.  All they can do is keep calling you & they will.   Blake Johntson of CFG is listed on Linkdin  if you want to give him hell.

I got a call yesterday from a man named Joseph wanting me to verify a check I wrote.. I have no idea what he is talking about!  Glad I googled the company!  Thanks!

Have been getting this same call from Joseph same number 1-866-443-6985, on my caller id it comes up 330-529-6141.  Number 1, I would like to know where he got my cell phone number, #2 I haven't written any checks lately.  #3 get lost, i'm not calling you back!!  After seeing all these posts, holey cow!!

I also received a message  from Joseph at Frontier Financial along with the same letter as Leslie claiming that I owed a Payday Loan of $408.00 and that they represent PDL VENTURES.I have been getting these calls since last year from various phone numbers around the USA,and I have filed a report with the  Federal Trade Commission,Consumer Affairs and also the Attorney Generals Office.These scam artist needs to be stopped and the Legit Payday Loans Companies need to protect their Clients ID and info.These scumbags have no morals and they are prying on innocent people in these hard time,Most of them sound like foreigners with an Indian accent.I wish that some one would take an active part and shut down this illegal fraudulent ring and throw these suckers in jail.

I have been receiving the same calls and I have reported it to the Federal Trade Commission,Consumer Affairs.and my local Attorney General Office.These people are scam artists.

So I contacted them and spoke to mike blunt..very rude kept hanging up on me saying I was playing games..I said why r u yelling..he said I'm not yelling..clearly yelling..anyway it was about a check n go balance I owe from a year ago. The bill is 240$..I said let me see a letter and he sent one via email and said now we are going to the next step and said u are gonna pay 380$ now! Have a nice day! And hung up..now what do i do..he sent me a letter via email.

A Joseph called my business phone and stated that I needed to call this number back immediately (866-443-6985). He did not leave the name of the person that he was trying to contact, but stated that it was very important that I contact him.

follow up it was not a mike blunt it was mark roche? he says his name really fast or muffled..anyway i filed and reported them to the ftc and attorney general

Ask for proof in writing.  Not an email but proof that you owe the money in writing.  There has to be something from the original creditor in writing.
