Got another call from them still looking for Miguel Simoes (I spelled it incorrectly in my previous post). I really couldn't seem to get it into the caller's head that MAYBE someone typed in the wrong phone number OR this Miguel Simoes person gave them incorrect information. I asked the guy to look up my phone number on Google and tell me what name he comes up with. He said he didn't have access to the internet. WTH? It's the 21st Century! Everyone SHOULD have access to the internet. I then asked him to give me Miguel Simoes' address or city of residence and he refused.....

Actually, if they are calling your cell phone you should be able to go online to your account and put them on a blocking list.  If calling your home phone, you can also do this but you may have to call in to your carrier to see how to do it.  Most home services include call blocking.

Also, it's important to document dates and times that they call.  Even when you tell them to stop calling and send the letter they will say "Oh, no one put that in the notes."  Then they'll switch your account over to a different collector and continue this process over and over again.  Document it and then file a complaint with the Attorney General's office in your state.  This will stop them.

Same thing. They are still calling and asking for someone who isn't at this address or of any known association. I did talk to a rep by the name of Jillian who says that they will remove our number from the call list. She assured me that it will take 24 hours to become effective. So like previous writers...we will see.

The caller ID simply said "private" so I let it ring.  A lady left a message saying they were Barclay's and had an urgent matter regarding my VISA card that needed to be settled before they make a "final decision".  Since I don't have a VISA card from anything resembling Barclays, and they even got my middle initial wrong, this is simply another phony collection scam.  DO NOT CALL THEM BACK... DO NOT HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH THEM... hang up and report them to the do not call list.

They call everyday at least twice a day for an employee who works at the company.  I thought they're not supposed to call their place of employment?

Before you speak... on a topic you don't have a clue on read this.  Other wise keep your comments to yourself.

The lawsuit recently filed by the Minnesota Attorney General (AG) makes shocking allegations against the NAF, a national and international administrator of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services that include mediation and arbitration. Although the NAF is supposedly impartial, the lawsuit alleges that it:

       * Assists creditors, not debtors. Although the NAF maintains that it is not affiliated with any party, the lawsuit alleges that, “The consumer does not know that the Forum works alongside creditors behind the scenes—against the interests of consumers—to convince creditors to place mandatory pre-dispute arbitration clauses in their customer agreements and to appoint the [NAF] as the arbitrator of any disputes that may arise in the future.” It says that the NAF does this to generate revenue for itself.
       * Affiliates with NY hedge funds & collection agencies. The lawsuit further alleges that the NAF is, “...financially affiliated with a New York hedge fund group that owns one of the country’s major debt collection enterprises,” which “...invested $42 million in the [NAF] and obtained governance rights in it.” It also states that the NAF, “...conceals its affiliations with the collections industry through extensive affirmative representations, material omissions and layers of complex and opaque corporate structuring.”
       * Advises creditor behind the scenes. Again, although the NAF states that it does not have any relationship with any party and does not counsel its users, the lawsuit alleges that it, ...works closely with creditors behind the scenes to: (1) encourage them to file arbitration claims as an alternative way to collect debt from consumers; (2) draft arbitration clauses, advise creditors on arbitration legal trends, and in some cases, help them draft claims to be filed against consumers; and (3) refer them to debt collection law firms, which then file arbitration claims against consumers in the Forum.”

On July 17, 2009 the company signed a Consent Judgment that resolves the lawsuit by the MN AG.

Under the Consent Judgment, the company is barred from the business of arbitrating credit card
and other consumer disputes and must stop accepting any new consumer arbitrations or in any
manner participate in the processing or administering of new consumer arbitrations. This means
that the company will permanently stop administering arbitrations involving consumer debt,

I settled my debt on my own, had them knock it down from 7000.00 to 4100.00.  Now even after they agreed to the settlement, and I paid they still call and harass me.  I currently have a lawsuit pending

I have heard that if you report them & tell them they are in violation of the fair credit reporting act, they are more likely to offer you a settlement for that account.  Beats using the debt settlement people as that is pretty much all they do.

Do you still have the lawsuit going on?  This list is very long on this page and your lawyer could use this against them and help all of the others.

    Real SICK & DYING
I suggest buying a "Advanced Caller ID with Ring Controller" from JF Tech Developing Co., in Norwich, CT.

    Web site is   www.JFTeck.com

This nifty device is a Caller ID box as you would expect to find for around 60 to 70 dollars, and is worth every single penny!  What it does is takes the caller ID that comes in and compares it to a list you enter of calls to block (YOU NEED ONLY THE CALLER ID SERVICE FROM YOUR PHONE COMPANY TURNED ON) Yes it really works! and all that happens is the caller only hears on their end of the call is a ringing forever. What you hear on your end is NOTHING!!!  Just Bliss!!!  It shows who called, but never rings through to you.  Now if the Collection Agency catches on to this they will starting calling from other exchanges like ex. 717-232-0001, 717-232-0002, 717-232-0003, 717-232-0004, and so on.  The device has that covered too, and lets you Block as a WILD CARD, which means you can list all number to be blocked from the following number ex. 717-232-XXXX where the "X" mean any number from the exchange, or you can just goto the extreme, and Block as ex. 717-XXX-XXX then no more call from the area code of 717.

My Name is Scott & You can E-Mail me Direct at...And this is A REAL EMAIL ADDRESS I USE FOR THE COLLECTION COMPANIES TOO.  GOandFUCKyourself@mac.com
