The fact that the agency is contacting anyone at your wife's place of business is highly illegal according to the FDCPA. This FTC issued act states that a collector is required limit there discussion with a third party to three specific pieces of information commonly referred to as Location information and they are: The persons home address, home phone number and place of employment. Additionally, Under this disclosure rule once a customer has acknowledged that they can not be contacted at work the collector is required to cease communication at the place of work.  My recommendation to you would be to log every conversation by date, time and collector and seek legal advise by a debt collection attorney.

I have been getting calls from this number on my cell , I do not have a Juniper/Barklay account . They ask for my social and I will not give that out !! Sounds like a scam , I didn't even know who was calling until I looked it up on the web !!

they call twice every day and are leaving messages asking for some persons name i dont know. there saying my credit card is in emergency state and i need to call back. very annoying.

I've been called many times by this collection agency and have told them this is not James Cortez # and the contuine to call. So I called the # back and will contuine to leave them messages to take my # off their calling list.

I get constant phone calls from this number.  I have told them that I will bring my account up to date as quickly as possible, but the phone calls don't stop.  I sometimes receive phone calls two minutes apart then they stop for a few hours and then begin again.  They begin at 8am sharp and also call on Saturdays and Sunday.

Is this legal??  I thinks it's harrassing.

Why can't anything be done to this company, which is also knowns as Juniper Bank. I have the same calls as others have mentioned. We did a consolidation with a company and all the other accounts we consolidated with are great. However Barclays has worked the since the consolidation to increase the amount on the accout by over $1200.00. And now after talking to them in the last month they will settle the account for less than half of what they say is due. I told them I did not have that amount at this time. Now in the last two weeks my brother and sister in law are receiving calls from this company on behalf of my account with them. Is this common practice?

Calls ~10 times a day for months, talked to them so many times that I am not Lura they are looking for and they promised to removed my phone # from the computer, but they still keep calling me.
Can we do something to stop this?

this company starts calling around 8 AM and when we answer no one is on the line. they must call about 10 times a day.

This is a scam!!!! I have never owned a credit card in my life and I check my credit once a week!! Don't owe anyone money!! Do not give these people your information!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am very upset with this scam company. Do not give them an account number or social security number. I've never owned a credit card either and I have no idea how they got my number and name. Like Cindy said do not give these people your info because it is a scam.

I received 16 calls from this company today. No message left. From Barclays one of the foreign owned big bailout banks receiving taxpayer bailout. They are now harassing from a new number. They have been calling daily for 6 months, 7 days a week, including Sundays. I refuse to answer calls that are "unknown," or never leave a message.

I tried 3 times to settle a $300,00 account.
I payed them as I said, for 3 months, but they NEVER removed the charges on 3 occassions like they said they would., never provided anything in writing, never talked with the same person twice. When I requested the original person, they were never available.
I will never pay them another dime. I told them to take me to court.
They are liars and frauds.

Receive 10 or more calls a day. Even New Years Day, and always Sundays too. They never leave a message. If we do not know the person calling, or the ID is unidentified we do not answer. They have been phoning for 6 months now. Endless harassment.

They call here 8-10 times a day, 7 days a week. Even phoned New Years Day.
From Barclays, originally owed 200.00, made 2 payments and they did not remove a $39.95 charge as they promised, quit making payments. Now they want $500.00.
They have now been calling 6 months, never leave a message, they can call until He** freezes over.

I'm a minor and have never owned anything like a credit card or even a debit card and have never been loaned money...this is obviously a scam, especially because I'm a fifteen year old girl and they are asking for some dude named John Garcia.

This is Barclays Bank and if you think you don't have a account with them make sure to verify that...they bought out all the Airways cards so if you had a US airways Card with Bank of America or a United Airways Card or any other airways card that gave you miles as rewards know that Barclays Bank now owns the card...I was sending automatic payments to Bank of America and it took me some time to realize they were no longer taking the payments.....when I contacted Bank of America to find out why they stopped taking the payments they said the account had been sold, when asked who it was sold to they could not give me that information, so I had to wait for the card to default before I could find out who held the account...DO NOT LET THEM TAKE AUTO PAYMENTS!!!  I demanded they send me something in the mail and they informed me they could do that once I set a payment schedule up with them, I did, they reported me to the credit companies as not paying AT ALL, I am in the process of a dispute since I have all the bank records that I have been paying, they were taking the money at random intervals and screwing up my balance on a monthly basis, I spoke with my bank who informed me that they can file a report on my behalf for unfair credit practice since they also had the proof that the bank was taking random amounts at random times instead of the agreed upon amount and time, also they NEVER sent me the information I requested in writing and they refuse to accept my marriage license to change my name with them so that I can obtain proof that I had a payment agreement and actually receive the paperwork(the mailman refuses to leave mail with my maiden name)  this company is extremely shady and I am in the process of disputing the negative remarks on my credit report and my bank is filing on my behalf to stop all automatic payments to this company.  Now they are calling me 7 days a week starting at 7:45 am and calling up until 9:00 pm EVERYDAY!!!!  I just want them to send the card to collections and have requested they do so and they refuse!!  I am not paying this company another dime until all reports are filed and resolved.

I have the same problems with the company,  I just ran out of unemployment and am fighting just to keep my home afloat and they call from 8am till 9pm every flipping day.  I have no income I wish I could give the money from somewhere but I can not!  I have always prouded myself on being able to keep my bills up and had a great credit rating I worked hard.  However with this economy and no income with a family of 5 what is one to do.  I now having attorneys calling me to try and collect I just don't even answer at this point because none of them ever listen to me when I truthfully tell them I have no income.  What do they think I pride myself on not paying NO.  This economy is really messed up and until things turn around there is almost nothing anyone can do. By the way I have been searching for a job since 2008 and still no luck.

I also had protection plan I paid for with this company for well over 5 years and once I became unemployed started to use the protection plan.  They one day just upped my rate from 9.99 % all the way up to 29.9% without warning.  This should not be aloud.  I worked hard always made my payments until I could not anymore.  It was either pay my rent and make sure my kids had food on the table or pay them.  now I have no income no unemployment and really trying to just keep my family afloat and they call over and over and over they would call at least 25 times a day minutes apart and that is harassment.  I do not have income and I can not pull money out of no where so they should be patient and wait until I can find a job.  I don't proud my self on not paying my debts but i can not fix what I do not have.  And now I have their Attorney calling good luck trying to collect something I do not have and have no asset's either.  I wish you all the best for the ones who are just trying to make ends meet and have these people up their butts.  oh and by the way any one whom is on unemployment they are not by law able to collect or garnish from government money at all.  If they try get an attorney or look the law up your self and present it in court.  If you present the exact law the judge will not garnish it by law.

These people call up to 14 times per day. My sister answered my cell when I was away on vacation and they harassed her and said "oh she just leaves her phone behind?" none of their business! They call my FATHER at work, his cell, their home phone asking for my mother then when my sister answers she says her name is dawn and my sister says no my mom is not here may I take a message? They say "no" and hang up! I'm twenty-four with two children and my husband is active duty in Colorado but they are calling my PARENTS in AZ harassing them at work and home?! Please tell me what I can do to stop this or someone legitimate I can speak to! They scare me and I do not trust them! My dad is 64 with hypertension as is my mom and my grandma just passed away they don't need this harassment help!!! :(
