Had $9.00 charge on Visa from 866-473-8739 Link Services CA.  Called Visa to dispute charge.  # connects you to an answering service.  Cancelled account.

Had the same problem. $9.00 charge was made on 3-14, showed up on my online account 3-17 and just found today 3-29. Called the number on the statement 866-473-8739 to find an automated voice mail.  Called the bank to cancel my card. The phone number is attached to someone in Newport Beach, CA. I don't know how these people do things like that. This is rediculous. I hope this person/people are found and they burn in hell. They can have my $9.00 for  one nice swing to their head with a baseball bat.

I didn't get a call from this number, but it showed up on my MC credit card with a charge of 9.00 by Link Services (which was not authorized). I called the number and got an answering machine. Left my name and phone number but no one ever called back. I wrote a letter to my credit card bank disputing the charge. Shortly afterward, the $9.00 was credited back to my card. I thought the matter resolved, but a few days later I discovered my card was frozen by the fraud department of my credit card bank. When I called them they said there had been several fraudulent charges on my account and they were issuing me a new card. I think the "Link Services" deal was the beginning of all this, but I cannot imagine how anyone got my card info. I live alone and no one but me ever uses the card. Also I'd like to know how my credit card bank knew those fraudulent charges were fraudulent. How did they know they weren't my charges?

Link Services dinged my ATM card for $9 back in early Mar08. Bank said it was fraudulent, and I didn't buy anything for a mere $9.....
Leading contender is that they got my number from a hack of Sweetbay grocery/Hannaford Brothers grocery chain.
Called but nobody answered. Didn't leave a message.
Had to do the affidavit for the credit, but couldn't do the (requested) police report. Police only wanted to handle a local event. But I live in IL, work in FL, was in MI at the time and Link Services did the charge from CA.. Who gets the report?

Leah, the exact same thing happened to me. On March 4 my credit card was charged $9.00 by Link Services 8664738739 Ca. I called the number, but only got an answering machine. I told them I was calling about an unauthorized charge on my credit card and left my name and phone number. I never received a reply from them. I then sent a written letter to my credit card bank asking them to remove the charge. A couple of days later, the $9.00 charge was credited back to me by Link Services. Several days later my credit card account was frozen and I was unable to access it online. When I called the bank they told me it was because of fraudulent charges on it. They named off about 3 asking me if I had authorized them and I said that I hadn't. So they said they would remove the charges and issue me a new card. What I would like to know is how did the bank know those charges were fraudulent before even talking with me? And how did they get my credit card information? I never give the card physically to anyone. It's only used online and I make sure it is a secured and encrypted site. I live alone and no one else has access to my card. I asked my credit card bank how someone could have gotten my info and all they said was, "There are many ways."

I've read all the comments and noticed the credit card frauds began around the first of March. This makes me wonder if someone somehow got access to a lot of credit card info all at once -- such as a database on a dvd/cd disk or something? Or possibly information on unshredded papers thrown out into the garbage?

My Visa debit card was also charged the $9.15 from this Link Services in CA on 4/08. I do not even use this debit card for this account anymore.First I called the toll free # but it is a generic voicemail box that doesn't even state the company so I called my bank and they had already red flagged my card because of this "suspicious charge", cancelled it for me and were already in the process of issuing me a new one when I called them this morning. I am also guessing mine was part of that whole Hannaford card hacking.

mine was with a visa card. so I don't think it has anything to do with mastercards.

They have charged by debit card $9 with no explanation - only this phone number.  What the heck?

Same here. Unauthorized transaction for $9 from my credit card which I haven't been using for a year.

I was charged $9.00 as a POS transaction on a Visa debit card that I only use as an ATM card. When I called the number I got the same as others, a generic "You've reached the voice mail system, leave a message" with no company name etc. I called my bank and opened a dispute immediately. Why hasn't Visa closed this guy's ability to charge people and where is he getting his info. It's kind of disturbing.

This company charged my debit card and did not call me at all. I work at a bank and I am familiar with the properties that are unusual with a point of sale transaction. This $9.15 charge is fraudulent. Please contact your bank if you receive a charge of this nature.

Link Services posted a charge to my Visa on 4/22/08 for $9.10.  I got the same schpeal as everyone else, call 866-473-8739 to talk to the merchant.  Of course, this is a voice mail.  I called my credit card back and they called a different number that they wouldn't give me but could not verify the charge was legit so they are crediting me for it.

I looked up the ph# and per 800 directory asst. this ph# is available for purchase.

What kind of country do we live in that allows people to use a fake ph#, charge your credit card and you can't track them down to hang them???

Just received a charge for 9.15 on my visa from Link Services at this number. Bank was not too helpful at first, but since I read theses posts and called them back with this info, they cancelled my card. Thank you all for reporting this. I did call the number, but hung up. I hope that they don't start calling! I really wish they could catch these guys. I don't understand why visa/MC can't block them.

i just had the $9.15 charge show up on my account as well.  I just called my bank to cancel my debit card and have a new one issued.  I have no idea how my debit card number would have gotten out.  I think I have used it once to pay an electric bill through Bill Matrix...anyone done that?  I wish we knew what the connection is between all of us so we would know what not to do from now on.

I had $9.10 taken out of my checking account on 5/25 by Link Services. Bank of America quickly cancelled my card and is sending a new one. They said the money will be back in my account by midnight tonight (5/29). I spoke with a few "computer geek" friends who said that this was surely a hacker when I described the computer generated voicemail message that answers the 866-473-8739 number.

I had a charge on May 20th for $9.10 from Link Services with the 866-473-8739 number in the detail for the charge.  My bank refunded the money and is issuing me a new card.

I live in NY and I just got the 9.00 charge on my Mastercard debit card.  Went on my statement as "debit no pin".  I'm calling my bank now.  Not sure how they got my #

More of the same: no known phone call from this number; $9.10 charged 5/31/08 to my VISA; cancelled credit card; hope they rot in hell.
