I got caught in the Books a Million scam re:  magazines.  I didn't know they were taking money out of my account.  I do not want magazines.  I didn't know I ordered them.  I am a senior citizen living on less than $1000 a month and can not afford the money they took from my account.  I called a number but it was automated and I am afraid my money is gone.

You had to give the permission and your address for it to work. I'm not a fan of this service AT ALL, but the system makes it impossible for the employees to sign you up (unless they are good enough friends to know your email, number, and address). the pamphlet they put in your bag after you give them that info says it all, and how to cancel it.  :)  I know because I went through this process numerous times for the free mags for Nat Geo and Real Simple

I shopped at Books a Million one time in March and ended up subscribing to 3 magazines.  I don't have a clue how this happened.  I keep a close eye on my checking account and when I went to check it I had an overdraft because of a large magazine subscription deduction.  I am livid that this could happen to me.  When I called Books a Million I was told that I was getting 3 magazines for joining their millionaires club, which I don't belong to and never joined.  Beware when shopping there.  I don't remember being told of any promo either.

If you look in the small print on the flyer that you should have received from BAM it specifically says after a certain date unless you call a specific number the card you used to buy whatever you bought from BAM will be charged.  The first two months are free and after that you will be charged.

I just got charged 17.50 for cosmo magazines i didnt order, i dont even get them so how could i have ordered them? I will be sueing this is the 3rd time that somthing like this happend to me we should all come together and sue them and take their money see if they like it that was my rent money now i have to pay a late fee.
