this phone number always comes up and its a recording and does not leave any details, only to call them back.

That 1-866-504-7548 calls me sometimes twice a day. They curse at me, they tell me to pay a debt that I didn't do. They said they were going to garnish my wages, and sue me in court. They also said I have a felony on my record from writing a bad check. My identity was stolen so I know they got the wrong person. How can I stop this from happening. Please somebody give me a number to call or a website. Thanks

Some lady called my home phone from this number.  She tried to sound official, but was laughable at best. She insinuated that I was under a 48 hour investigation, but left no reference number or gave any indication as to why I was supposedly being investigated. She and others like her can get bent!

I received a call today they say that I owe for a payday loan. I keep asking them to send me something in writing. They said that they would attach my wages. They have my e-mail address and my home address. Said they have sent me letters in the mail that is a lie. How can we stop this?

just received a message saying that there was a criminal investigation that I was named in and if I didn't call the officer back, he was going to come arrest me....I put the number he left in google search and came up with this screen, so I am not too worried about the call anymore, but I am wondering, if I got a loan from them 6 months ago and paid it back, why they are calling me with threats now???

No, Ginger, they cannot.  It requires a court order to garnish someone's wages regardless of what you signed. It's your employers money and they are not bound to give it to anyone other than you unless they are under a court order to do so.  The wage garnishment clause in payday loan contracts is useless.

It is also against the law for them to discuss your debt with anyone else such as a coworker, supervisor, HR, etc.  I'm not saying they won't because these people have no regard for the law.  Just be certain you report them to the FTC and the Attorney General for their illicit behavior.  If enough people report them, they'll eventually be shut down.

How funny you are, you don't get to make payments on payday loans!! But if you read the contract it states they can take a renewal fee every payday and they will. And then it also states you give the loan companies authorization to collect the funds through your current or future employment. These loans are awful, but if you don't read the fine print it's no one's fault but your own, and the renewal fees do not go to the loan at all!!!

Recorded message for someone who is not here anymore. Call 3-4 times a day at a business number. they need to find their customer and call him not a business.

Any subsequent calls (other than one last one to tell you they will not contact you anymore) will make them liable to you for up to $1,000.  Log all subsequent calls and report them to your lawyer. They call & call & call, several times, as soon as we answer they hang up. We would call them back and they would get attitudes and hang up saying they have nothing to do with the calls we are receiving..
