With regards to your statement that a CPA will know about cost segregation and will defend you 100%, you have your information all mixed up.  If you look for statistics, you will find that cost segregation is a specialty where CPAs are concerned and not all of them know what to do.  If that were the case, then why are there several companies out there providing this service for companies?  Typically, cost segregation is done by major accounting firms that most mid sized companies don't have working for them.  With companies like AmCorp Management, their auditors are professionals and know what they are doing. Additionally, they will back their services 100%.  Why not have a company that does 1000s of these reports and understand the IRS mechanism working for you instead of a CPA that says they know how to do this? Also, most CPA are not working are cost segregation alone.  They have other areas that they are working on.  It is like this...if you are going to have open heart surgery, do you want a general practitioner, or a specialist?  At least that is the best way to look at this.  So, get your facts straight!

Are you sure you are working in the best interest of your company?  With so many companies needing extra cash, don't you think you owe it to your company to see if there is money for them?  Do your research on what this is going to do for your company before putting it in the round file! This is a legitimate service and you can go to http://www.irs.gov/businesses/article/0,,id=134180,00.html for what the IRS has to say about it.  It will take you several days to get through the information available; however, you can hire a specialist in this field and save days of reading and trying to understand all the laws associated with it.  Additionally, do your research on the company that is offering you their services, and then you can determine if you have made the right decision for your boss! Why don't you give it a shot and not be so narrow minded!

Isn't this the same company that was called TaxBack some years back? Owned by Shawn Hull? What happened to that company? Didn't live up to the hype? My sister bought into that franchise and had to walk away

I normally would not post on here but I lost a bet.

I am a CPA for several manufacturing companies in the midwest. I received a call from this same company Blue Coast from a Rick Matthews. This gentlemen was very polite and wanted to set up a meeting with an individual that I happen to know through a friend. Long story short I knew very little information about Cost Segregation. I thought it was something you do on a new building. It turns out that if you purchased a building with in the last 20 years there is a large benefit. Also when I was told that my manufacturing clients where not taking all of the R&D credits I told them because they do not qualify for most of them. Well again I was surprised about the processes that actually qualify. Due to some recent changes in the law this credit applies to most manufacturing companies who produce an actual product.

A simple phone call to a gentlemen I lost my bet to would answer any questions. He is a national project manager for the company and he can be reached at 888-705-5557 ext. 310. His name is Matt Stokes, I hope this makes us even Matt.

my brother also received a call from 866-569-4303 asking to speak to the owner about his federal return.  When my brother said, the owner wasn't around, he wanted to send someone to talk to him.  But when I called the number it only said to enter an extension and eventually hung up.  I called the IRS and they don't have this number in any of their listing.

My brother got a call from this number also to discuss his federal return asking for the owner.  He pretended to be someone else and the guy ask him if he could send someone over to talk to him.  I called the number and got nothing from the other end.  I called the IRS and they said they do not have this number in any of their offices.

    tired of answering weird calls
Caller hangs up everytime I answer the phone. Never leaves a message or asks for someone who doesn't even work here anymore. We transfer the calls to any vacant room since the people they are looking for don't live here anymore anyway. They won't ever stop calling and start back up day or three all over again. WEIRDO'S. No point in trying to get through their heads THERE ARE NO SUCH PEOPLE HERE!!!

AMCORP Management is a scam, they are selling this as a business opportunity or franchise. See if you can find any company that they have done work for where they have gotten money back from their previous tax returns. You are not going to find not even one.  We looked - none could be provided that we could talk to. Don't believe what they tell you, talk to one or more of their customers who have gotten money back. Good luck finding them. They are in the business of selling franchises.

Red flags rose when caller tried to imply they were calling for the IRS about tax credits. Wouldn't let them through. Had to tell them 4 times that their call would not be accepted before they got it. Complete honesty up front might have gotten them through, but prevarication smells of scam and always leads to goodbye.

Thanks for your posting - it was interesting.  You said that you "lost the bet", but I'd be interested to know if your company actually received any type of refund or tax credit because of the work of Matt Stokes? So far, I have been looking hard to find real results, beyond the promise of results.  Thanks again - I hope you respond!

Shawn & Lindsay HULL had a corporate address at 2929 North Power Road, Suite C100, Mesa, Arizona?  Am sure they relocated after the below investigation from State of Connecticut.

The economic collapse has brought the Hull's a real windfall of new desperate suckers to fleece.  They are rolling in the $$$ and living large.

Their head ew, and there is almost always a ew behind these scams, is Brian Felderstein, Vice President of Broker Development for the corporation.  He's the guy who calls you from Florida.  He is very good at getting you to hand over your $20k franchise fee, which he splits with the Hull's.

Securities and Business Investments Division - STATE OF CONNECTICUT

    Securities Bulletin

    Vol. XXII  No. 4
    Winter 2008

On November 5, 2008, the Banking Commissioner issued a Notice of Intent to issue a stop order denying the business opportunity registration of Blue Coast Financial Group, Inc. (Docket No. CSF-2008-859-B).  On the same day, the Commissioner issued an Order to Cease and Desist and Notice of Intent to Fine against Blue Coast Financial Group, Inc., Shawn Hull and Lindsay Hull.  The corporation, located at 2929 North Power Road, Suite C100, Mesa, Arizona, offers an arrangement whereby purchasers can start a business facilitating audits of workers compensation insurance premiums for the purpose of uncovering errors and overcharges.  A previous registration filed by Blue Coast Financial Group, Inc. had been denied by the Commissioner on May 5, 2008 following a hearing (Docket No. SO-2007-846-B).  Blue Coast Financial Group, Inc. subsequently reapplied for registration under the Connecticut Business Opportunity Investment Act.

The November 5, 2008 action alleged that the  second application and disclosure document failed to adequately disclose 1) the backgrounds of Shawn Hull, Director and CEO of the corporation; Lindsay Hull, President and Director of Blue Coast Financial Group, Inc.; Shelee Loughmiller, Blue Coast Financial Group, Inc.’s Vice President of Training; and Brian Felderstein, Vice President of Broker Development for the corporation; 2) the business experience of Blue Coast Financial Group, Inc.’s predecessor; 3) whether and under what circumstances the initial payment made by the purchaser-investor was returnable;  4) key terms of the business opportunity agreement; and 5) the employment of Brian Felderstein with FOS, LLC.   The November 5, 2008 action also alleged  that the second application and disclosure document misstated the facts surrounding 1) the Commissioner’s January 10, 2005 Order to Cease and Desist, Notice of Intent to Fine and Notice of Right to Hearing against Taxback, LLC; 2) the Commissioner’s January 10, 2005 Notice of Intent to Issue Stop Order Revoking Effectiveness of a Business Opportunity Registration, Notice of Intent to Fine and Notice of Right to Hearing against Taxback Opportunities, LLC; and 3) the Commissioner’s June 7, 2005 Consent Order with respect to Taxback, LLC and Taxback Opportunities, LLC.  In addition, the November 5, 2008 action alleged that the second application and disclosure document failed to provide the financial statement required by law and failed to adequately summarize the principal factors that made the business opportunity one or high risk or of a speculative nature.

The November 5, 2008 action further alleged that, in offering unregistered business opportunities, respondents Blue Coast Financial Group, Inc., Shawn Hull and Lindsay Hull violated Section 36b-67(1) of the Connecticut Business Opportunity Investment Act.  Such conduct would, if proven, support the entry the entry of a stop order against Blue Coast Financial Group, Inc. and the entry of an order imposing fine and a cease and desist order against all respondents.

Respondent Blue Coast Financial Group, Inc. was afforded an opportunity to request a hearing on the Notice of Intent to Issue Stop Order Denying Effectiveness to a Business Opportunity Registration.  Respondents Blue Coast Financial Group, Inc., Shawn Hull and Lindsay Hull were also afforded an opportunity to request a hearing on the Order to Cease and Desist.  A hearing on the Notice of Intent to Fine is pending.

Vision Travel, Inc. a/k/a Global Vision Travel Fined $115,000 for Selling Unregistered Travel Agency Business Opportunities

On November 5, 2008, the Banking Commissioner entered an Order Imposing Fine (Docket No. CF-2008-844-B) against Vision Travel, Inc. a/k/a Global Vision Travel of First Street, Suite 304, Metro Office Park #7, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.  The Order Imposing Fine had been preceded by an August 15, 2008 Order to Cease and Desist, Notice of Intent to Fine and Notice of Right to Hearing alleging that, from at least August 16, 2006 to November 3, 2006, the respondent sold unregistered multi-level marketing virtual travel agency business opportunities to at least eight Connecticut purchasers in violation of the Connecticut Business Opportunity Investment Act.  Since the respondent had not requested a hearing on the Order to Cease and Desist, the Order to Cease and Desist had become permanent on September 23, 2008.

After finding that the respondent violated Section 36b-67(1) of the Connecticut Business Opportunity Investment Act, the Commissioner fined the respondent $115,000.  The Order Imposing Fine stated that there was no evidence in the record that the respondent had offered or provided restitution to the Connecticut purchaser-investors.  The respondent did not appear or contest the imposition of the fine.  Section 36a-1-31(b) of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies provides that the allegations against a party may be deemed admitted where the party fails to appear at a scheduled hearing.

I lost a lot of money dealing with AmCorp Management.  They make all their money selling business opportunities to people wanting to have their own business.  The amount of recovery they claim has been recovered not by AmCorp but by companies they allegedly use for recovery.  Just check trgvictims.com or other sites that list current Darren Oliver scams both past & present. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!!!
