- moYes I recieved the same type of call! The lady actually yelled at me on the phone and hung up on me. I then called back and spoke with another person who gave a line of bs and convinced me to give him my checking account number. I then looked in to company and realized they are no where to be found- I cancelled my check and also told them I need something in writing.

- nono replies to Martin AlbertI pitty someone who chooses this line of work . Firstly, harassing someone who may or may NOT have a valid debt, who may or may not have a valid reasons for being in financial difficulty is the not going to resolve the problem. But more to the point, this harassment won't erase the years that you were bullied on the school playground. Consider anger management and therapy to help you with your sense of powerlessness and lack of self worth rather than taking out on others. Believe me, I'm just trying to help you out here.
- cmickieThese people constantly call me at work and on my cell phone several times a day. My employer has even told them to stop calling but they won't. They even call me at 9 pm, which I thought was completely illegal!!!!

- KevinI got a call from a lady today saying that she represented Praxis Finacnial and that she wanted to speak to me about some debt I had. I told her that can't be because I settled it with the bank 3 months ago. She was very rude, starting throwing out ridiculous numbers, and transferred me over to her manager "Michael" even when I told her not to. When he picked up, he started to be aggressive immediately and demanded I pay them $1000 today. When I told him this must be a mistake, "Michael" started to threaten me again, saying that if I don't call him back and take no action that he will take action for me. He also told me that he will "tell his client" that I am being uncooperative if I don't call him back the same day. When I got fed up and told him I was going to hang up, he started to yell at the top of his lungs, to the point that he wasn't comprehensible, threatened me again, and told me that I deserve to be in debt. When I asked to speak to his superior, he said that he was the superior and that I am wasting my time.
When I looked at their website, they don't even list a "Michael". I think he lied about his name.. how pathetic.
These guys are a joke.. a fraud. They exercise illegal malpractice, terrorize innocent families, and harass people with phone calls even when told not to. They should be sued by everyone they harass.
Trust me, do what I did and record your phone conversation with them. If you record them saying something they are not supposed to, you can sue them. These guys are terrorizing families like mine for no reason and they should pay! DON'T TAKE THEIR CRAP! FIGHT BACK!- Caller: Praxis Financial Company

Prohibited Harassment
Debt collectors can call you and request that you pay the debt. However, they cannot harass you or abuse you. These are the types of things that they should not do:
* Use obscene or profane language.
* Make repeated frequent calls to annoy you.
* Telephone you without identifying themselves.
* Use threats of violence or harm against you.
* Threaten to arrest you if you do not pay the debt.
* Threaten to take action such as lawsuits, garnishments, or taking your property unless the collector intends to do so and it is legal. (Creditors must usually take you to court and get a court "judgment" against you before they are able to garnish your wages in Missouri.)
Debt collectors cannot make false statements about themselves or the debts. They cannot misrepresent:
* they are government officials;
* that you have committed a crime;
* that they work for the "credit bureau";
* that the papers you received are legal summonses
or legal papers, if they are not;
* the amount of your debt; or
* that there is an attorney involved, if there is not.
Debt collectors are also prohibited from:
* depositing a post-dated check before it is due;
* threatening to take your property unless it is legal to do so;
* contacting you by postcard. - Lois KingThis man name John is call me at work my cell and so forth. - ChristenI have had a lot of calls from different people in the past few months trying to collect on debts that I have recently paid off already. When the people (including Annette from Praxis) call and start in on me, I tell them to stop and I ask them questions. Like my address, phone number, and other little things like that. If they don't give me the information I ask for, I ask for a supervisor (they hang up on me before I get to talk to one). I had a guy call me the other day and when he asked for me, I said it was me and he immediately started cussing me out, calling me everything but a white woman. I wrote down the number he called from, how long the conversation went on, time and date of the call, and told the guy that if he didn't stop cussing me, then I was going to turn him in for harassment. He said that per the laws, he could call cussing me out and would do so at any time of night he pleased. I advised him that his response was not correct and that he and his company would be hearing from my lawyer. I also stated to him that the last time his company called me, that I wanted to have the information in writing and they said that they would send me a letter. I never received it. I have sent them a cease and desist letter as well and wait for the BBB to process my complaint against them. These people just think that they can try to get under your skin. Let them know that no matter what, they cannot call you past 9pm your time or before 8am your time. They cannot, and I repeat, CANNOT, cuss you out. It is unethical, unprofessional, and just plain rude. No outstanding reputable company is going to stand for their agents to do such a thing (I used to be a bill collector for Stage, Bealls, and Palais Royal stores). File with the BBB and FTC if you have been wronged. And another little tid bit of info: Many state attorney generals will not take on cases of owed payday loans because the amounts are not on a grand scale (at least in Texas I know this and a few other states too) and there is more worth in paperwork than what the person actually owes.

- I'm the CEOI received a call from someone at Praxis trying to collect on a debt. I couldn't understand what the caller was saying, as his phone kept cutting out briefly and his voice was muffled. I told him this and suggested he move his headset mic away from his mouth. When he became abusive, I asked to speak to his supervisor. Within a few seconds (I'm not even convinced he put me on hold...I think he may have simply handed the phone to the 2nd guy), another man got on the phone and began berating me. I asked his name, and he said it was Michael Adams (I had to ask more than once to get the full name). I asked if he was the supervisor of the man who had called me, and he said -- get this -- that he's the Director of Operations. Like any company's director of operations would be the first line supervisor to some call center flunky? Or would be instantly available to take the call? Or would even be located in the same building as the call center for a sleazy debt collection company? Please. Cubicle-mate is more like it. I said that I was impressed and honored that the company's director of operations would take an escalated call from me, a very minor debtor. He said something along the lines of, "don't be impressed, just pay your debt. He rapidly progressed (or regressed?) from being rude and nasty to screaming at me and insulting me.
There's a special place in hell for these people.
And I, too, have received numerous calls from the same number where no one says anything even after I've said hello four or five times.- Caller: Praxis

These people are scum bags, if they tell you they will take you to court then know that first of all that's illegal if you have not been served papers from the court and second of all they put the burden of proof on their shoulders so tell them ok, see ya there, they will never be able to prove it. People like this one are a joke, a dime a dozen, learn your rights people, they CANNOT harrass you like this, it is against FEDERAL LAW!!!!
- HeadHunter replies to TruthTotal lie!!!! Dont believe this [***]! They are scum bags and deserve nothing. You DONT have to pay anything, they have to prove in writing that you owe the debt with signatures, no signature, no deal....Too bad [***], you lose again...hahaha
- anonymousRead all about debt collection rules here http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm which states:
"What practices are off limits for debt collectors?
Harassment. Debt collectors may not harass, oppress, or abuse you or any third parties they contact. For example, they may not:
* use threats of violence or harm;
* publish a list of names of people who refuse to pay their debts (but they can give this information to the credit reporting companies);
* use obscene or profane language; or
* repeatedly use the phone to annoy someone."
The FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf requires debt collectors to give debtors written notice of debt on pages 11 and 12.
"§ 809. Validation of debts
(a) Within five days after the initial communication with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt, a debt collector shall, unless the following information is contained in the initial communication or the consumer has paid the debt, send the consumer a written notice containing—
(1) the amount of the debt;
(2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
(3) a statement that unless the consumer, within thirty days after receipt of the notice, disputes the validity of the debt, or any portion thereof, the debt will be assumed to be valid by the debt collector;
(4) a statement that if the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, the debt collector will obtain verification of the debt or a copy of a judgment against the consumer and a copy of such verification or judgment will be mailed to the consumer by the debt collector; and
(5) a statement that, upon the consumer’s written request within the thirty-day period, the debt collector will provide the consumer with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor." - FED UPJust got a call at my job from some rude moronic "B" named "Ashley"....when I told her that employees at our STATE agency were not allowed personal calls at work, she started yelling at me telling me that I wasn't scaring her at which point I called her a "rude B*&$%" and hung up on her!
What the hell is wrong with these [***]! Do they NOT realize that federal law prevents them from jeopardizing a person's employment?! OMG!!!!
You may have my name, but I happen to know that there are several other people with the same name scattered throughout this state, as well as the entire USA!!! Until you PROVE that this alleged debt is MINE, KMA!!!!- Caller: Praxis Financial

- mommadoo replies to Martin AlbertWell aren't you all holier-than-thou. I hope YOU never have a situation where you are unable to pay your bills and get nasty calls from people who shout at you. Like I don't feel lousy enough because I can't pay my bills - nothing like someone screaming at me that I am a deadbeat to really make my day. If I had the money, I'd pay the debt - but these people don't want to work with you on a reasonable plan - it's all or nothing, which is why I don't answer the phone anymore. Leave a message, you rude people/
