- Holistic Girl replies to bozoSweetie, actually, NO they don't...if you knew the law, you would understand that the ONLY person/company that owns debt is one that has your signature on a document that 'claims' you owe the debt.
1. don't make Any payments, that is an acknowledgment and tacit agreement to owing the debt.
2. make sure you inform them that If they intend to go to court, They must produce your original debt With your signature, Otherwise, Who are THEY exactly and frankly, you dont' know them, (the debt collector) and your honor, I think they are trying to Extort money out of me, I HAVE NO FINANCIAL AGREEMENT WITH THEM!
And any debt that they may have bought, well, prove it, they must prove it and you may not remember having that debt with 'said' credit card company, right, so IF indeed you owe a credit card debt, well That is with the Original credit card company with your signature on a document that is a binding contract.
Debt collectors haven't a contract with you...they buy your debt for pennies on the dollar....so how can you owe them $2,000 for a $200 debt that they 'bought' from a credit card company....at most, you would owe $200, lol if you have somehow agreed to it. - Holistic Girl replies to frankLOL!!
I agree! Shill for the scum debt collectors! - Me2781 replies to bozoDon't pay debts you don't owe. These are just scammers trying to bully people out of money by threatening to take you to court.
According to the Better Business Bureau
"...the scammers accuse the victim of defaulting on a loan and claim they are being sued. The phony debt collector threatens that, if the victim doesn’t pay as much as $1,000 immediately via wire or by providing bank account or credit card numbers, he or she will be arrested.... The scammers often have the victim’s Social Security, old bank account numbers or driver’s license numbers as well as home addresses, employer information and even the names of personal friends and professional references." Check out the below website fore more information and beware the phony debt collectors.
http://www.bbb.org/us/article/widespread-hara ... ta-breach-11792 - Holistic Girl replies to puppy_luverLOL! Me too, a Michael Jones left a message claiming he is a process server and that there was a 'Complaint' against me!
Feg! Serve away because I will actually appear and demand that they produce the documents that Prove they are the rightful owner of said debt...a debt, btw, that I know absolutely Nothing about..which means he is harrassing me and that in Fed court, they would have to pay fines to the tune of $10,000 for each infraction. - Anti-scam mom| 2 repliesThese people called my ex-husband's mom saying that they're coming to arrest me, then they called my ex and my grandma claiming to be with the sheriff's dept. When I got home and called them back they didn't know who this "Susan Smith" was who called me but did take the reference number and said it was on an old bank account. They went on about giving me a summons and how if I didn't get my grandma to give me her credit card to pay the $2200 off today they'd have to issue a summons and it'd cost me another $500 to file a mandatory reply. When my grandpa (an attorney) got on the phone they wouldn't give any info and definitely wouldn't mail anything, and wouldn't you know of course by now they're claiming to be the "issuing agency" and totally deny ever claiming to be the sheriff. I called the bank and they did have an old account from me but the information didn't match what these people have, not even the year or state, so it's just so totally bogus. I called the sheriff and they'd never heard of me and said it was a scam and to report it to the local PD, so when we went to the police department they said this was obviously a scam and to just hang up on them, not to give them any info, and that they're likely trying to steal my identity. If they do serve me with papers I'll just go to the bank and get the info on the real debt and show the court that nothing matches, not even the year, so I do think I'll win. I have two children at home all day, one with autism and epilepsy, so going to court will be a huge pain but if I have to I have to. No way are they getting a penny out of me. Impersonating a sheriff has to be against the law and no way am I going to be another victim of their scam. This is just so wrong on so many levels.

- HellamadTime to get tough, I've had a few calls from this number and many other scam-scumbag boiler rooms. Now that robotcalls are (technically at least) illegal from commercial businesses, I tell them "Oh Hi!". If they first ask if this is the "Jones" residence (or is this Mr./Mrs. Jones)...you're ON, they want info and tell them you'll answer 1 question for every answer they give you to your questions...Ok? Or, let them get through the opening sales pitch, then when they ask you if you'd wouldn't like to save billions of dollars by signing up with XXXX? You give them the 1 for 1 conditions as stated. You tell them you're NOT on the "Do not call list" because you enjoy talking to people. "Is this Mr./Mrs. Jones?"...response..."maybe". Now "my turn", (if female, ask if she is menstruating right now because it's a fertility turn on and my wife is also listening, if male, ask how often he masterbates. If they don't hang up or blow up, interject that the call is being recorded and the best ones end up posted on the internet, you tell them your YouTube page is getting very popular! Let's continue, so next question "would you like to save up to $200 a month on your insurance bill?". Answer, "maybe, now my turn", (if male) ask if he is circumsized, (if female) ask if she gets turned on by watching horses mate. Keep it going, if they play along and ask them if they've ever seen any of the "Jack***" movies or TV shows. Tell them that it's your right to violate their privacy as much as they are violating yours and you intend to make money off of them calling you, remind them that they DID call YOU didn't they? Mention how great it is to get all the live victims since the robocalls are now illegal. Ask if they have any sexually transmitted diseases, tell them that you're draining the pustules as we speak in the bathroom sink, encourage them with the YouTube fame they'll have. NEVER answer their questions directly, say "maybe, who's calling?" at the opening and always remind them of the 1 answer for one question each way but never give out true information and get straight to the smut and how YOU will benefit from them calling you. Get disgusting, it's YOUR time and the YOUR money paying for the "Private Line" (FCC telecommunications lingo) that these trash companies are taking advantage of! The FCC is bought by some of this rubbish so you can forget any prosecution by them.

- mary ann replies to Harassed| 1 replydid they ever actually serve you they are harrassing me for a debt my ex husband owes
- mary ann replies to Anti-scam mom| 1 replywhat happened did they serve you papers ?
they are harrasing me about a debt my ex husband owes - anti-scam mom replies to mary annNo, they haven't served me with anything. They didn't want to reveal anything and backed off from claiming that they were the sheriff's office after speaking with my grandfather, who is an attorney. The police dept. was adamant that I just hang up on them if they call again so until I hear from them another time I'm just going to forget about them. They don't have the right year for the debt, not even the right state, so it would be pretty hard for them to make a case that I owe them anything if it ever did come to that.
- qMy dad called me asking if I knew about some complaint against me. He said some guy called their home (where I no longer live) and said I owed money. The guy gave the 866 number as well as a case number. I googled the number and found this site. I told my dad if they call back to tell them we're notifying police. Idiots.
- get a life....I didnt get a call, but my family did. I was at work, and the caller was threating my sister saying that they were going to sent a police officer to serve some paper to my husband and that they are not going to wait. this is a urgent matter, but when i came home for lunch and call the police department, the court, and the DA's office they didnt know any thing. these people were rude and wanting to find moreinformation about us. these people are a fake who dont have an life and is trying to scam other people for anything.

- Debt CollectionThis organization is a scam.
In Texas debt collectors can not garnish wages as they state they will.
There is a federal law in place that regulates debt collection:
the Fair Credit Collection Act
These callers violate several federal statues. Report all violations to your state Attorney General.- Caller: Would not specify

- stillwaiting2beservedI got a call today from a 'restricted' number. I picked up and some guy said his name was 'Michael'. He first said he was a process server and then said a Sheriff process server. He said he's been trying to serve me a lawsuit (even provided some bogus lawsuit number to really 'scare' me). I asked who was suing me...he said he couldn't give me that info but it had to do with 'fraud'. I asked what his number was and he said he could not give me his number. I told him I would meet him some place to serve me, and he insisted I call 1-877-333-5260. I called the number and spoke to a guy named 'Ricky Martin'...yes, 'Ricky Martin'. I got all excited thinking it was, well 'Ricky Martin'...Anyway, the guy said the lawsuit was filed and that I could settle this immediately by giving him 1200.00. He couldn't provide me with much information though. I asked when the suit was filed...didn't know. I asked who the lawyer was...didn't know. I even jokingly said 'what was Ricky Martin's most famous song'...
Anyway, this is obviously a shady business and well, some advice to these scumbag collectors. Use more recent 'hip' pop artists and not has beens from the the 90's. If you would have said you were Lady GaGa, you might have gotten some money from me (only if you would have promised some concert tickets, though).
People...there are laws protecting consumers, too. This company obviously feels that they are above the law.
By the way, this 'fraud' debt he was accusing me of not paying was a credit card, NOT FRAUD, from 2005 that I paid in full in 2006.- Caller: Restricted and '877-333-5260'
