I keep receiving calls from a representative at Philip & Cohen regards the estate of my late husband. They overly express their condolences and then remind me I am not responsible for this debt. If I offer to pay then they are more than happy to accommodate me.  When do they stop calling?

I just got a letter for my dad who just passed 11/30/18 he did not have a credit card debt he paid in full every month

Sorry to hear that.  I think it would be better to expend your energy to read the other posts and learn what to do than it would be to reply to a 9 year old post.

Get called 3 to 4 times a week.  Calls are never ending for months now. Want me to assume credit card payments for deceased relative. Blocked their number after reading reports from your service. Thank all of you for posting information.

Thanks to all who have posted reports of this number. Since I'm in similar situations I don't answer calls that I don't recognize. Look up info on 800notes.com then block caller. Thanks 800notes & all folks who have posted. These people just keep calling. Perhaps they should try to get real employment.

Have been receiving calls from this number. They leave a message for Someone I knew 20 years ago in another state. They want this person to return their call saying they are about to sue and to call them as soon as possible. I have no idea how my number got connected with this other person, I did not know her well at all. I do not return their calls. They are permanently blocked on my phone.

First of all - thanks to everyone for posting their stories... it helps.
Just got a call, the lady was quite secretive. She was looking for an old acquaintance, but with a mis-stated, but recognizable name.  She said she was calling from Delaware (the state). She said, after my repeated inquiring, that she was not from an attorny's office. I asked if this was a personal call - and she said "... a personal business call.". I asked who gave her my phone number... and she got quite evasive/defensive. I accused her of stalking.  I don't think she denied it. ..... Anyway, I've blocked  the number from my phone.  -- Everyone, be aware, that the individuals perpetrating these calls has as much ease of access to this website as anybody else.  So they might very well be reading these messages too. Funny thing is that they don't respond to the complaints - creepy!

I received voice mail with same message about a family member's recent death.

I was completely surprised to receive a mailing regarding my late spouse who has been deceased for three years. I am complertely unaware of nay outstanding debts that may be owed and am the executor of the estate. I sought to get information regarding the phishing attempt and submitted my personal info to the online service only to get rebuffed at the end. Having complied, I am yet at a loss to discover ANY of the alleged account. I believe this may be a scam.

Communications to a debt collector should be in writing and sent certified, return receipt.  All of that information has been previously posted.  Also, it should have told you that in the letter they sent.

I got a call 4/15/20 from this number, not sharing their name but just asking if I was or knew the Administrator of  an individual.  I did have a recent death in the family but the name was only vaguely representative of the correct name.  I was glad I could clearly say I've never heard of anyone by that name  and was assured they would be taking my phone number off of their list.  After seeing these other instances of a similar nature, from the same number for over 5 years, I'm glad to know the call was more than likely an attempt to collect money not actually owed.

My mom passed in July.  Last month I got a letter from Phillips and Cohen to: the executor of her estate.
Said they were collecting a debt.  Checked the website, which seemed somewhat legit. However, how did they know she passed? , there was no identification of the debt due, etc.  Decided to ignore it, as she had, had Alzheimer's for 7 years previous.  I knew all of her bills and she wasn't creating new ones!!!  Also, spoke to my CPA, who told me to ignore it.  This week I have received 2 calls from them.  The caller ID says Phillips and Cohen, however, it is an 866 #. Fishy to me.  Did not answer, they left no message.
So annoying, and ridiculous!

Easy.  Her SS# went into the deceased list with the SSA.  Public Record.  However the solution to the problem has been posted in this thread.  Start reading on Page 3 because the information previous to that seems a bit sketchy.

Received a call from this number wanted to know the executer of my Dads estate.  my dad passed of COVID and they threatened me as my DAD had nothing I told them to remove my number from their file and they said they will get their money

Caller identified by personal name only, no firm name or statement that the call was regarding a debt. I informed her that I was aware of her firm and that they could submit a creditor claim via the court or my attorney like everyone else.

This company is a scam.
