- Nunu| 4 repliesThey say they are calling from Wachovia....I preety sure that it is a scam...dont fall for it! Don't give out any personal information. Tell them you will call Wachovia yourself. They will offer to give you "Wachovia" number but dont take it from them. You can find Wachovia's number either online or on the back of your card.
- Caller: Supposedly Wachovia
- towhee replies to Nunu| 1 replyReceived call from this number on Dec. 24...message says it is George Hampton of Wachovia and to call this number today. Recorded message at this number says to have account number or social security number ready to expedite call. Can't call to report fraud because state offices are closed.
- Scam Warning replies to towheeGot the same message from George Hampton. I confirmed with Wachovia that this is in fact a phishing scam.
- Jsaid they were calling from Wachovia...wanted credit card number to clear up an over draft
- MilaI've been receiving calls for the past week and a half from this number and another number as well. When I called Wachovia they didn't mention a flag on my account or a reason for getting the calls at which is why i called them in the first place. When I wrote customer service, a rep said the number was legit with the Deposit Recovery department of Wachovia. I'm still not sure about it and the complaints on here make me more wary of wachovia all together.

- LA replies to q| 1 replyIt is not a scam. Its our Early Resolution team. If you have a negative balance in your acct for a certain amt of time, they will call you. They do it so your acct wont go into our recovery dept.
- allen iThis number called me and I clld wachovia to chk it out bc I thought it was a scam. Wish I had did wht they sd because they had offered a waiver bringing my bal down a lot where as the branch made me pay the full amount. Shld have saved number to call back. So ppl don't worry this is a real part of wachovia, I was told tht accts tht are overdrawn for a certain amt of days and are in jeopardy of being closed are sent to tht dept. And they offer waivers to help out the customers.
- abcIt's on my caller ID. I don't even have an account with Wachovia.
- You are poor but I'm not! replies to Mila| 6 repliesYou need to pay the money you owe Wachovia. You overdrafted your account. That is why they are calling you, idiot.

- David replies to Nunu| 1 replyI'm on the Do Not Call list and had been getting this pre-recorded on my answering machine, asking me to call Wachovia at 1-866-654-8515 for an important issue. Figured it had to be a scam. They called EVERY day sometimes more than once for 3-4 weeks. Finally lost my mind and called them back. Turns out it really is Wachovia, trying to sell me something. I don't have a Wachovia account or credit card so I'm not a customer. Can't believe that of all banks, Wachovia is doing this, given they had to pay $150 million last year for aiding telemarketing fraud. Unloaded a barrage of f-bombs on the poor rep and told them to take me off the list. I think that should end it.
Unbelievable. Good luck Wells Fargo, you'll need it. - RcGTiger replies to You are poor but I'm not!He may be an idiot, but YOU are an [***]
- Tisha replies to DavidI am a Wachovia Employee and this is a group of individuals attempting to commit fraud to our customers. They have been reported and I have also spoken with a person at this number and informed them that they are going to jail. Please do not think that Wachovia would do such a thing.
- overdraftedIt is definitely Wachovia's automated calling service intending to clear up an overdraft. I had to specifically acknowledge that the automated system could call me though. Until I did that I had actual people calling me.
- Caller: Wachovia Bank NA
- Call type: Unwanted
- click| 2 repliesJust to say, if you get this call the first time, or any time, just
say that you will call back at a later time. Then call the offical
phone number on the website and ask them if the number is real.
Even type the number into your search bar, and if nothing comes up
for the company, something may be wrong.
Be safe.
I did this myself, and when I called the people at Wachovia they
did a serch for the number. They could not find it for any Wachovia
offical number, or any Wachovia bank location. 866-654-8515 is a scam.
It is HIGHLY irregular for ANY bank to call it's customers.- Caller: Wachovia
- ClickOkay, so I wrote the responce above this one.
I called them back and told them that this was
the "Beastyality Hot Line." They won't be calling
back anytime soon.- Caller: Wachovia
- dirkdiggler replies to click| 1 replyThis is a scam, I just checked my account and it is not negative futher more I have overdraft protection linked to my savings so money would come out of that account automatically to cover anything negative.
Just ask yourself this... Who calls about something important but doesn't state their business in the message?
Also, why would my bank leave me 5 messages at work and none at home?
Also, Wachovia has online messages that appear on your account online. Didn't see any messages.
I'm betting the folks on this thread stating this is not a scam are part of the scam.
I worked for Wachovia for 6 years and believe this to be a scam!
