- #1G.I.I got a call from this same number and I declined to do anything business representative claiming to be from Wachovia. I too don't have any outstanding balances or overdraft charges. But they continue calling, did anyone get off of this calling list?
- Caller: Wachovia
- Call type: Debt collector
- Sandy LeeI received a call AT WORK!! They said that they were Wachovia and they are not they are a company trying to scam people.
- Call type: Debt collector
- DGGreceived 4 voice messages from George Hampton with Wachovia today (all within one hour of each other).
- Caller: Wachovia
- Sharon| 2 repliesThey call 3-4 times a day. They even left a message to call them back.
I finally answered and they said they were from Wacohiva and needed to verify my information. I told them to stop calling and I was going to report them. - S.Ranger replies to Sharon| 1 replyI just received a call from this number and the female said that her name was Jamie Wilson. When I said that I would call back and ask for her, she said that I would not be able to talk with her but would get another rep to talk to. It was something about her extension was not available for call backs. DUH!!! I might have been born at night, but it surely wasn't last night. If anyone calls this number back, for your own safety, do not give them any info about your account. About a year and a half ago a similar call came in to my wife and she did verify info. We wound up having to close that account immediately when I contacted wachovia directly. They said it was a scam so I believe that this is also.
- S.Ranger replies to S.RangerMy wife just contacted Wachovia and they told her that this department does exist, but lo and behold they can only receive inbound calls and cannot make outbound calls. Also the number 866-654-8515 does not exist as a wachovia phone number. Maybe they should call Charlie Tuna the next time they go PHISHING. 8^)
- DBeen getting these calls daily for a week. They hang up when I pick up. Very annoying. We have no Wachovia accounts at all.
- Caller: Unk
- Keri MaxwellI can assure you that this company is in fact wachovia just for the simple reason that i work for the company. The president of Wachovia Rosanna Dipompo comes to our company every month. The reason for the calls is to help customers resolve their overdrafted balances before they close and get sent to the credit bureau....i can promise you the calls really are wachovia
- Caller: wachoiva
- John SmithIt is frustrating to hear people call this a scam. Trust me this is not a scam. This is the bank calling trying to help bring balances of over drafted accounts down to make them more affordable so they don't go into collection or incur any other negative action on the account.
- TeresaI received a call from 866-654-8515 and the caller didn't leave a message
- Caller: Didnt identify or leave mesage
- ke| 1 replythis number keeps calling but never ever leaves a message, if it was really Wachovia and really important then they would tell me who they were and who they were calling for but since my answering machine does not contain my name I guess they just hang up because they don't know who they're really calling. Sounds like a scam to me. If they really wanted to get a hold of me they would send something in the mail. My account is in good standing, no overdraft here so it must be a scam.
- Caller: unknown
- mom of 2 replies to You are poor but I'm not!| 1 replyThey have been calling me..saying they could save me money if i go through them they asked for my name and social to verify but i didnt give it to them... it was a lady named jocelyn i believe it started w/ a j. it sounds fake... bc it sounds like the recording is recored and really scratchy
- mom of 2 replies to mom of 2o and i havent used this account.. i use it for savings and we have it set where i cant overdraft thats how i know they r fake
- Sonya replies to Nancy"George Hampton" is a machine, an automatic dialing system, used to contact customers and verify that the number provided is in working service. People with deliquent accounts tend to find ways to evade payment, for example, changing numbers frequently and leaving phones "off the hook". Research is sometimes required to track down alternate contact information for the said customer, from places of employment, addresses and even their mother's cell phone number, if need be. If you have received a call from this number and you do not have a Wachovia account, first make sure that you have not opened an account with another party (child, elderly relative, estate etc.); otherwise, this could simply be a research error. Just call back and let the rep know that a wrong number has been contacted and request removal or be prepared to receive further calls. All of this occurs when customers become overdrawn. Unused accounts can face dormant fees unless minimum requirements met and become overdrawn. Automatic bill-pay can always draw from an account unless the vendor is directly contacted and the arrangement is cancelled. The bank cannot cancel auto-bill pay for you. Also, refresh yourselves on the rules and requirements of your overdraft protection. Any confusion can be cleared up by reviewing your "Deposit Agreement". Customers who put their account jeopardy can face systematic account closure at anytime. Seriously, this is not scare tactics; this is an unknown variable everyone. It can close in five minutes, tomorrow, next week etc., which would lead to additional fees and further more collection activity. That's why customers are called several times everyday until the account is a.) out of jeopardy with minimum required balance or b.) closed. The purpose of the call is not to sell anything, but to bring the customer's account out of a negative balance, prevent closure, protect from credit reporting and most importantly maintain the customer. These are the only reasons that this department of Wachovia exists and sometimes, they can give you a break by waiving some dollar amount depending on the account's current status. Understandably, If you don't feel comfortable giving out information over the phone, just say so and/or request further verification. Go to your local branch, beyond the general tellers, and request explaination, even call the number back while you are there and have your branch representative do the talking. Please, don't spray the phone rep with expletives, as with anyone, that will get you nowhere. Unfortunately, it is a job that has to be done..
- P*ssedOff replies to keHow do I get them to stop calling? it's FIVE TIMES A DAY!! WTFH?
- G| 1 replyI get calls from this number multiple times each day, beginning usually around 9AM. They never leave a voice message and they call back several times throughout the day. I hate it!!
- Somebody replies to GStop over drafting your accounts then Wachovia will stop calling you. It's that simple.
- WolfI just received a call from this number and contacted Wachovia Bank NA directly. I was informed that this number has been turned over to the fraud department. If you receive a call from this number contact Wachovia Bank NA directly at 1-800-Wachovia and report it! At the voice prompts, just say "representative".

- 234I just got a call from 866-654-8515 but it's not someone acting like they are from Wachovia. This person said they were calling about a fork lift job my husband applied for.
