I just got a call from this # and asked me to call them today to resolve a pending judgement against me.  I do owe one credit card debt, but have never received a summons to appear in court.  Should I call them back?

Calling them back would not be good.  Best thing to do is to check your credit report, and local civil court (where I live it's my county court) to see if you have any pending cases.  

More than likely they are lying because I got a call today and really believed Mr Shapiro, he was nice enough even though he realized that I have no assets, and was probably the wrong person (probably looking for my twin).  I started feeling sorry for the person in Hawaii he said was sued and then I came to this site and found out it was all a big lie.  He said she had a pending case, and the the judge had already made the decision, once my sister was served the final judgement would occur against her in 20 days.  

Called Hawaii courts, and checked online: nothing is pending!! It was a great big lie.  I call forward selected their number to my Attorneys office so I don't have to be bothered again.  My sister has A+ credit and doesn't owe anything, but her id was stolen via checks for a few months so we expect anything to pop up.

Got a voicemail today, same as above... very ambiguous, I could help clear up a matter, etc.  Michael Kohn or CON was the caller.  Seemed polite on the voicemail.  They only make money when they collect, so their time is valuable to them... ever thought about keeping them on the line with small talk?  How's the weather?  Got any job openings as I am out-of-work?  How do you think the Cubs will do next year?  Who are you voting for in the upcoming election, etc... but Never acknowledge who you are, where you live, that you know who they are calling about, etc.  I believe I'll head to Wal-Mart and call them from a pay phone if they still exist. Said to call him back at 866-696-4188, Ext. 100.  Will someone please call him and tell him to $%^$%^$^ off!

Well I've been receiving calls from them like everyday now. Pain in the ass.
I've been getting calls from other 866 numbers as well.
Well yesterday I finally decided to answer and see what I owe to who. Well come to find out they've been these cash loans I took out and "forgot" to pay.
So they were for only a couple hundred, and to be honest, they were really nice. I think that's the "tactic" now. They figure they can get more bee's with honey.
So I don't care if you call them back, take care of your debts, etc. I'm just here to tell my side and my experience. They were actually cool. Not to say all collection agencies are good. Just my experience with these people were good.

1st of all I dont owe these people a damn thing! they are not even callin for Me.But after tellin them they have the wrong damn # and still gettin nowhere i played w them....Guess what after that I have not gotten another call! and who the are you to be talkin about debts....maybe u work for a calling company, maybe u owe some debts! I am writing this for a co-worker. This company called and had me leave a message for my coworker stating it was a "Legal Matter" and gave me the document number of the legal case.  I knew this couldn't be for real.   BUt it did give me a clue that my co-worker has been turned over to a collection agency which isn't my business.   This company should be sued for violation of HIPAA laws and I will report them

Well I received a call from this company at work on October 2,2008 from a man named Michael Kahn and I must say he was a complete jerk. So I brushed him off. Today I received a call from the same company but from a man named Joshua Jacobs and he was really pleasant and willing to work with me in regards to my situation.  So I must say that all debt collectors aren't as bad as you make them out to be. They are just doing their jobs like everyone else.  I feel that Mr. Kahn could have made more progress if he didn't have such an attitude problem like the debt was created under his SS#.  So Joshua Jacobs, I would like to say Thank you!

Is this company a scam?

knowing this can lead back to my ip adress we arent giving a [***]... somebody else calls again trying to ascert there authority over a long distance area without identifing themselves  and asking for our brother wich weve told you all over and over for the last 4 months he is in prison we will have no choice but to return the courtesy........

My step sister had a water softner put in and got financed by a third part company. Recvd a bill twice the amount and come to find a atty from vineland nj has been using very aggresive tactics to collect the above mentioned bill. The atty from SRS Atty office

well i get this call from SRS & Associates and the guy came off all nice and telling hes trying to help me out of a probelm with some money i ow and offerd me a small amount to pay back,and if i didn't then he would have to go forward with litigation and the result would be taking money from my paycheck,or my income tax return and crap like that,but i say send me a letter and ill get it to my lawyer and see what he says but hey never got my letter just the phone call..

First of all they are not allowed to say civil case. law suit or attorney Before returning the call buy a tape recorder and record the whole conversation. Most likely they will violate the FDCPA(Fair Debt Collection Practices Act)! It costs nothing for an attorney and you can sue them and probably get a $1000 and maybe even ur debt cleared. Michael Kahn & Frank Shapiro are not attorneys!! They are overpaid idiots that think they can say whatever the want to you! They can do nothing to you. The only client that actually legitamately sues is Bank of America or Nu Island Partners. The rest is b*llsh*t! They can't do anything to you in regards to pay day loans they are illegal in most states of the US. The rest of the stuff they collect on is garbage that you don't even need to pay back b/c your over the time allowed. General time is 5-7 years. Varies depending on your state. Trust me sue them and make sure u record any conversations you have and save all voicemail messages!!! You'll definately get money!

called and left a msg on our phone said their name was some wopmans name and she needed to hear bback from us today before they left or theywould have no choice in the matter and that us or our attorney needs to call them. and then gave the number and said good luck....as if i am returning that call. no details whatsoever as to what it may pretain to...

woman named Colleen Welch called  for "Mr Weinberg" called me at work, and at 2 of my friends homes -- didnt leave the name of the company she was calling for but I googled it and it came up SRS ASSC -- I assume they are represeing the pay day loan company that I stupidly borrowed money from last year, they then had a field day with my bank account taking thousands and leaving me thousands in NSF -- and forcing my bank to close my account
I would be glad to see them in court with my bank representative to show the judge the thousands of dollars they took from me for a stupid $300 loan!!!

They left a message on my work phone.  Jim Caldwell said some lawyer speak that I really didn't understand.  I don't know anything about the guy, SRS or whatever.  I call and ask where I'm calling, what kind of business it is etc. They told me nothing and all they want is my name and phone number "Is it Wes or Wesley?".  
"Does it matter?"  They couldn't find me in their system.  I spent time that I didn't budget to handle this BS, which is total BS because I don't have anything in collections.  I can totally see why someone would blow up a building.  These guys are shady crooks.

Well I would like to reply to your post...just tell them to send you proof of the debt and hu...that's it..they are after your money on old debts so they all can hit bonus.. and FYI..Jim Caldwell is not in any way a lawyer...it's actually Dave Greico who's the owner, is his son, Dave Jr, who is like 18 or 19 yrs old...send them a cease and desist letter, and if they still call you, u can sue them...the address: 1178 E Landis Ave, Building B, Vineland NJ 08360...and that's it...don't fall for this crooked agency....

I know these people, used to work for these crooks, almost a few months ago, maybe longer, who cares now, but let me tell you...
