Answered this and got an automated voice saying they were calling from the credit bureau of Canada looking for someone I do not know.  I believe that person had my number before me as I have been getting so many calls.  Either way, it's a scam and likely a collection agency trying to grasp at straws.  Report them to the RCMP if you need to.  I spoke with a live person and told them to take my number off their file, so we'll see if I get any more calls...

I got a new telephone number on Sept 30th of this year.  Two weeks later I started to get collection calls from Collectcents Inc., operating as Canadian Credit Bureau Collections, located in Mississauga, Ontario (Google the name for more info).  Repeated requests were made to them to stop calling, along with the information that they were reaching the wrong people.  As staff refuse to give their name(s) when asked, and hang up when they know someone is hearing impaired, they can be difficult to deal with.  I sent the owner an email (at the email listed on their site) - with the date I got the new number, their reference number and the information that they have refused to remove my number from this file, and refused to make an attempt to communicate with someone who is hearing impaired (a Human Rights violation).  I informed them that a copy of the email was being provided to Ontario Consumer Protection (copied and pasted via OCP's 'contact us' email address) and that continued communication would cause not only an actual complaint with OCP, but also one with Human Rights.
Hopefully this will finally resolve the issue.

See my post above.  This morning I received an email reply from ABOVE Credit Bureau of Canada Collections (O/by Collectcents Inc) ... the holding company ... Collection Group of Canada  ... from the Vice President, Quality Assurance & Compliance / Privacy Officer of Collectcents Inc.
So Again, I suggest ... If this company is contacting you in error - or you think they are calling you in error ... and you are not able to get any help or satisfaction by telephone ... email them (you can get the email address by Googling them or by going to the Goverment of Canda site:  http://www.ic.gc.ca ... then  Home ... Business ... Research and business intelligence ...  Directories of Canadian companies ... and entering the company name .... It gives you their company info, email address etc.  Next ... get an email ready ... be polite, and accurate ... and once the email stating why they should not be contacting you and the information that you are forwarding a copy of this email to Consumer Protection Ontario via their 'Contact us' email option is ready ... go to Consumer Protection Ontario ... look for your rights with Collection Agencies ... click there and go to the bottom of the page ... find contact us and click on their 'email' contact ... send them a copy of what you have written to Credit Bureau of Canada Collections.  Now send off the email to Credit Bureau of Canada Collections.  If they legitimately should not be contacting you, and you have tried to contact them to let them know that  ... you should get, as I did, a letter from above ... thanking you for the information, and that they will immediately remove your number from the file which they have been calling you about.
Simple fix ... follow the rules - tell them you are not the person they are trying to contact, and to remove your number from their calling list for that file (include the reference number) - they record all calls apparently, so make a note of the time you called - who you spoke to (or that they refused to give a name, (as they did with  me) and the length of the call - if they really do record all calls - then the information is not only on your cell phone bill that you called them at that time - but also on their audio recording for that time. ... now that they know for  sure that you have followed the rules, and they also know that you have called the referee's attention to the problem you are having ... and  (as the saying goes) Bob's your Uncle!   Its done, finished.
A few minutes research ... a phone call - what's next depends on the person answering the phone ... either they remove your number which their client gave them in error - they are not calling you just because they like your telephone number! - or you send a couple of emails and get results that way.
These people are doing a job - yes - sometimes a nasty one - and often done in a nasty way - but a job just the same.  Treat them with a little respect, even if they really have behaved in a manner so they do not deserve respect - and follow the rules - you will get results - I just proved it ... and I'm an almost 80 year old hearing impaired great-grandmother who is not really computer literate, but used common sense and a little courtesy towards the company to get the results I wanted ... no more calls for an outstanding, past due bill that does not belong to me or my family.
    Good Luck!

Find it's strange that it would be Canada collection agency when the number comes up with United States number!?  They didn't leave a message and I didn't call back but blocked on my phone.

Their activity is about to be taken care of legally by the law.  Soon enough these phone calls will not persist because they will be out of business, just like the last collections company I mentioned before and sure enough, a few months after the litigation their offices became vacant.

this 866-751-2167 # keeps calling my work (a very busy switchboard i may add) we do not have time for these garbage calls and have asked repeatedly to have our number removed from certain file #'s they say they will remove with 48hours then we receive a call back a week later with a different file #, the people you speak to when you actually call back this number are absolutely the most rude and unproffesional people i have ever heard speak.  Whoever is in charge of these people need to lay down some phone etiquette for them cause they are horrible!

So this circus claimed I owe them money; turns out it was for an outstanding Columbia House order from nearly 20 years ago!  LOL!  When I pointed out how old the debt was and that Columbia House hasn’t been around for some time, she reminded me the call was being recorded I a threatening way.  I to,d her to record away, swore a little and she threatened to terminate the call if I continued to use foul language.  I laughed and laughed and laughed, swore a little more and hung up.  I’m going to have fun with these bags of crap!

    Mr. McFadden
They ask for immediate payment with a credit
Card over the phone without providing account detail about the dept owed. I dont think so people get your act together and proceed legally.

Left voice mail asking for someone else (Colleen Middleton) saying they are from the Credit Bureau Canada Collections they say "this is not a sales call" An automated voice then reads a number they can be reached at as well as a number to reference when calling back. They give their mailing address, repeat the message and hang up.
