- 27hawksfanWhether you are on the DOC list, doesn't matter if it's a bill collector. That is only valid with telemarketers and solicitors. If you have any sort of debt, whether $100 or $100,000, these no name companies will call to collect. I agree that them calling me 10 times EVERY day sucks!! And if it's THAT important, LEAVE A MESSAGE!!! the best way to get them off your back, is to tell them "I'm not so and so"

- Pat| 1 replyJust receive a phone call from 717-243-8424 I don't know who this is. But after doing some checking I found out who and where they are: Torres Credit Service, Inc., PO Box 189, Carlisle, Pa. 17013, (717)243-8424 or (866)756-6820. Companies here in the US out source to companies in other countries and they don't know anything about the Do NOT Call List in this country so they keep calling and calling. Stay Safe.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
