If you have already notified them in writing that you are not allowed calls at work and they continue calling, it is harassment.

Yup, these people are scammers.  They are trying to collect on my mother's old Verizon bill and she passed away in February.  We know there's nothing owed because my husband called Verizon to confirm it.  Just block their number if you can.  Don't EVER say they have reached the party they're looking for.

I have spoke with them they are a collection agency, they have correct info about my bills with Sharp Hospital and I have spoke with Sharp about ny bill and theysaid they sent it to the collectuon agency. So if you have a bill that insurance never covered they are probably calling in regards to it. It isn't scams.

It's weird.  They said they are debt collectors, and they left an automated message with my name, but I can't think of any outstanding debt.  it's weird that they left an authomated voicemail, but I would think that if a person called and attempted to collect debt they would tell you about the debt you suposedly owe.  The previous comments on this are scarry.  The weird thing is that their call did not show up on my call history, not even as "unknown."

How nice for you that "it isn't scams" [sic] simply because a creditor referred you to its hired "collectuon [sic] agency", which it would have to by agreement between the two. That doesn't make the claim legitimate or the collector honest. Indeed, the history of comments about this agency, which you'd also misspelled, signals a need for healthy caution. Medical billing in the US often is too dysfunctional and error-prone not to invoke one's right to dispute third party collectors, whose duty it is to obey federal laws to that end.

Blabbing about your debt in a phone message can potentially breach your privacy, and inspire a sure-thing lawsuit for the FDCPA violation. Anyway, a live rep can coerce payment more effectively than a canned call.

Whether you are called a debtor or some collector thinks you can flush one out, you have rights and options. Many are simple to exercise if you only learn how. You are entitled to proof of claim and fair treatment. If you get neither, the collection agency should *not* win your assets. You are granted control of how you are contacted, the right to dispute debt claims, and the means to sue violators at low cost. The FTC and the CFPB can start you on your homework. See also if your state laws grant additional or stronger rights.

Just got a call from this number.  It was a male voice recorded asking for Philip Mary Cavel  (pronounced kay-vel).  They asked me to press 1 if I was Philip Mary Cavel, 4 if I was not, 7 if Philip could come to the phone, and 2 if it was the wrong number.  I pressed 2 and hope that is the end of it.  I have received a raft of calls the last couple of days on my home phone but even more on my cell from a loan company.  I reported the latter.  What a bother!!!

I got a bill in the mail stating that I owed 6856.03 with a 10% interest rate. Mind you I have not been to the hospital in a long time. The copy was in black and white and the amount owed does not belong to me considering I have insurance and have not been treated at a hospital. The bill also came in black and white with no perforated edges to tear and send. The address it is being sent to is a PO Box which does not belong to the creditor Progressive Management system. Be careful and cautious and always do your research before you send any money anywhere.
