Got a "blocked name & number" call first on my home phone, then on my business line a few moments later - this time leaving a message...  A Ms. Coleburt asked me to call (866) 835-1915 ext. 6020 "about a very important business matter" (but didn't elaborate), and said for me to use a reference number xxxxxxxx.

I never would do such a thing without first researching to determine why so much ambiguous inuendo must be used.  Thanks to everyone here for the info!  I'll not be rushing to make that return call ;-).

These are VERY bad people.
The TX office has trouble keeping a lawyer employed, but they still misrepresent that they are a law office.
They lose cases when consumers hire an attorney because they almost never have valid documents.

Of course nobody by that name lives here so what gives? We don't have Caller ID so I can't get their number and if we had caller ID we would probably see the message, Unknown caller what good is that?

These people are a piece of work.  They've called my employer repeatedly and have most recently asked to speak to my supervisor and/or our Human Resources Dept.  They've not validated the debt that they are trying to collect from me and for some reason are bent on trying to embarrass, harass, intimidate and humiliate me at work.

This number 866-835-1915 is coming from a BOGUS, ILLEGAL, SO-CALLED PHONY LAW GROUP.  You can do an automatic screening and prevent these calls coming into your home or office if you the the service.  My screening is included free from my phone company.  List all the numbers if you have the service.  (This Brachfeld Co. also goes by Meridian Management, Broadfield and some other names, but are all the same PHONY companies).  If you can block most of the 800#'s through your phone company, they will never get through.  Before I found out about the blocked call service, I was receiving daily and multiple calls from these [***] constantly.  They will harass you, unitil they turn blue in the face.  Best thing you can do, is don't answer the call, and report them to the ftc.gov/complaints.  These jerks are operating out of phony offices in OH, CA, and TX, but call all over the USA.  Eventually they will be caught and sent to Prison.  They are just harassing people to get their jollies.  From what I understand from reading other posts, the people who work for them are ex-jailbirds who need a job and are trained to scare people like us, but will get no where.  DO NOT LET THEM INTIMIDATE YOU!!!!  THEY ARE ALL PHONY SCAM ARTISTS run by a disbarred Lawyer named Marty Brachfeld and Erica Brachfeld who operate out of Torrence, CA.  AS of this writing, the screening of their calls are working for me, unless they have more 800#'s that I don't know about.  Good Luck

These people actually called MY NEIGHBORS to give me "an urgent message" to call them back. Wow, talk about deceptive tactics. Is this illegal? Aren't they harrassing my neighbors?

They are only allowed to contact third parties once in order to obtain your location. Anything other than that is considered harassment.

Why don't you block those callers? Most VOIP telephone companies (I use Callcentric) provide free call blocking for any numbers you don't want to get calls from.

I actually sued 2 companies under the Fair Debt Collection Act through an attorney named Alex Weisberg. Here is their name and websites, hope you can sue and get some money, too! I did not answer these calls from 866 835 1915 as they say Restricted and I no longer answer anything like that. Only problem is I have a cell phone with very limited minutes, so they use my voice mail, I don't check that til after 9 p.m. as minutes are cheaper then. Mine was a Miss Colbert with a file number attached, her extension was 6020, all similar to a lot of stuff above.

This number 866-835-1915 is nothing but a bogus, phony scam artist company who calls themselves different names such as: Broadfield Law Group, Brockfield Associates and Meridian Management.  They are an illegal bottom feeder phony company that buys up old debt for pennies on the dollar and makes harassing phone calls to anybody that is on their calling lists.  DO NOT give them any information about yourself.  They are trying to collect on old, junk debts that are beyond the STATUE OF LIMITATIONS.  Do not let them scare you.  They are being investigated by budhibbs.com  who happens to be a legitimite consumer advocate who will be on your side.  consumerjustice.com is also on your side and they are trying to bring these phony companies out of business where they belong. Just hang up on these idiots, because none of them are lawyers who work there.  Do not get talked into anything about paying some old debt that has expired.  This Brockfield, etc are just a bunch of SCAM artists who are posing as attorneys which they are not, in order to get anyones money who falls for their bulls!!!t,  BE VERY CAREFUL of these jerks they are annoying!!!!

Brachfield and associaties calling on a cell phone that is only three years old....zombie debt from 12 years ago, demanding $3000 or I will get arrested and go to jail....not.....this number is supposed to be in the do not call registry and they should be closed down,,,, calling at 6:30 tonite.....now using a 866 number not a wierd phone number area code....

I too have been getting calls from these *ss holes, and even called the medical group that they CLAIM they are collecting a debt for. I was assured I do NOT have an outstanding debt with them. I called other medical places we have seen in the last year...and do NOT have any outstanding debt. I knew this, because I pay my bills!!!! WHY do they get away with this harassing???!!!!!!  They continue to call. My 82 year old father lives with us, and said he couldn't hear too much, but they were yelling at him that we had better do something about this ya da ya da... GOOD LORD!!!!

It is illegal for a debt collector to sue you for debt that is beyond the statute of limitations for your state.

There are penalties and you can counter sue.
