As others said they were calling from "insurance services" to verify the coverage on the vehicle I have financed through Wells Fargo.  I do not have a vehicle financed through Wells Fargo, nor have I ever.  I would be leary.....

They called me this morning on behalf of my mortgage company inquiring about my flood insurance coverage. I called back to discuss the information they needed. It's legit.

I THINK THAT YOU ARE ALL WRONG... T' IS DEFINITELY A SPAM...My car is paid in full so no reason from them, to ask about that. Even if it is was not , you probably  might send monthly payments to your Insurance, or you can call directly your Insurance to check if really anybody from the Insurance has a reason to call you.

Scam - I do not own a vehicle, nor is my credit good enough to finance a vehicle. There is no Wells Fargo in Hawaii.

I received this call and voicemail around 10am this morning. As has been stated, they claim to be an insurance service for Wells Fargo Dealer Services. I did recently purchase/finance a car with a loan through Wells Fargo, however, I signed up for insurance through the dealership at the time of purchase. The salesman spoke directly with the insurance company over the phone while I was sitting there at the dealership, as it's illegal to drive the car off the lot without insurance. I can't say if this is definitely a scam or not, but I am leary of this and have no intention of calling these people back. They can have the dealership contact me if need be, or they can contact me via email through my account with Wells Fargo Dealer Services.

It's legit. Just call back and give them your vehicle insurance info. Otherwise your finance company will provide you with insurance coverage of their choice and you get to pay for it.

The finance company should already have that info.  Since there is no guarantee that it is the finance company, one should only call back on a number that is verified to belong to that company.

They called to verify auto insurance for Wells Fargo. I called a Wells Fargo auto loan # that I generally use to pay my bill/ask questions back to verify that was a correct phone number they use. It was confirmed that is a correct number. Not a scam.

Legit. They needed to verify insurance for a car I recently purchased and the loan was through Wells Fargo. I am sure sometimes they have outdated phone numbers they try and call. Which would lead someone to believe it was a spam/scam call. All they asked for was the policy number, make and model of the car and the contact information of the insurance agency that carries the policy.

They didn't ask for any personal information like SSN or DOB, address or anything like that.

I was glad they called.  My insurance had not invoiced BOA and the lady called in asking me to fax in an updated copy of our insurance, which was expired (what they had on file).  She gave me my full loan number and the fax number.  I googled the fax # and it is the official fax # on BOA website. Having to go with lender placed insurance is crazy expensive and they don't offer a good coverage.

Think it is a scam. They left a message stating my home owners policy was not going to be renewed which didn't make any sense since I had already received a renewal in the mail. I called my insurance company and they stated all was well the call did not come from them and do not give out any personal information to these people.

Total fishing scam! You absolutely should not share information with these guys!  I have my car insurance through USAA.  I have a car loan through USAA.  The message left  by the caller (I never answer numbers that I don't know) was spoken very quickly and didn't entirely make sense.  The caller first indicates she is calling about property I once owned.  And she mentioned Bank of America and mumbles something--it is almost as if she intentionally is trying to NOT be clear.  She never mentions USAA!  However, she did seem to know that the property (to which I sold over 6 years ago) was associated with Bank of America (my mortgage was through Bank of America).  She seems to conclude the call by saying I need to gather up my loan number and the insurance records for my cars and call the number back to which she left in the message.
Am I calling her back so she can know more information about me?  No way!  USAA has a car loan of mine to which I am paying and that same company, USAA, is where I have the car insurance!  The caller seemed to have pieced a couple of pieces of bad information about me together and now wants to collect more information?
What concerns me most are the people who have responded by saying the call is legit!  Please don't be misled.  Yes, you are proud that you have insurance on your cars!  But that doesn't mean you should proudly give that sort of information to anyone who calls just so you can feel good that you proved to someone that was implying they don't the record of your car insurance.
For example, DO NOT think this way:  "Well, I certainly do have car insurance on all of my vehicles!  And I proud to say I am a responsible person unlike so many other irresponsible people who don't have car insurance.  I am going to call these people back to give them my car insurance information and my bank loan information so they can know I am certainly responsible and that I certainly do have car insurance."

A woman with a heavy English accent left a message on my voicemail asking to return call. However, the message was not to clear. From what I could gather she wanted my info in order to ensure my car. I called they hung up.

Its a scam to gather information.  I work for an Insurance company.  Lady called talking fairly quick.  Wanted me to verify the customers home insurance which she happened to have his policy number.  She said she was with the mortgage co. which happens to be Bank of America.  She never mentioned Bank of America, but did provide me with my clients loan number.  She was trying to get information from me indirectly.  Felt like a total scam, and gave me a false fax number/ 1-800-296-8158.

i work for a homeowners insurance company, this call is from a call center with your mtg or auto loan lender. They just  need to make sure their interest in your home/car is protected by making sure you have insurance coverage.
It is not a scam. We speak to the same people all day to verify co erage for folkls just like you when they cannot reach you.

Some smaller lenders are actually serviced and handled by a larger one. It is not a scam.
I speak to mortgage companies all day, most of thwe payments from larger companies from escrow accounts are from a third party as well. The larger the business the more parties needed to help maintain the business and keep it running smoothly.
