Received a funny call. A lady said that I was nominated for a National Leadership Award, Yea, Right! I asked why me, she said she does not have   this information. So I asked her to send me the check as soon as she can. I did not finish the sentence when she hung up on me. I just started to have fun!

I received the same call.  She said her name was Betty Lake and she was from Congressman Tom Kolb's office and I was being recognized with a congressional award.  Ihave a neighborhood accounting and tax business, I haven't even finished my CPA yet.... uh... I don't think so.

I received the same call.  She said her name was Kim Mc Clain and she was from Congressman Tom Kolb's office and I was being recognized with a congressional award.

Received a call from person who said she was Sandy Vandergrift.  Same award story as others.  Faxed a very "official" memo from "Congressman Tom Cole."  When we checked the MO.gov website for his name there was no one there by that name.  

I received a message from an Elaine Praise stating I won a Leadership Award and to "call 877-213-0603 as soon as you get this message." I tyed the number into reverse lookup and nothing turned up. Next I typed it into google. I found that it is a scam by the republican party to raise money! I have read so many postings about this scam it is not even funny. They ask for $5000 from the person they claim won the award to attend a dinner and offset the cost of the media blitz. How sleezy is this? I am so glad I checked it out before I returned the call. Thanks to all the people who posted warnings before me!!!

The caller asked to speak with Rafeal, my husband. I stated he was unavailble & asked if I could help.  She stated her name was Vickie Bell, calling from Congressmen Tom Cole's office.  She asked if he had a fax number so she could send him information about his "honoring".  I told her no. I asked what was he being "honored" for. She stated it was related to great bussiness owners of LLCs & CEOs of local business.  
As soon as she stated this I knew she was full of "it".  My husband, is the owner (for only 7 months) of a business that he basically runs out of our garage.  I googled Tom Cole. He's a congressman in OK, we live in Fl. Sorry but, I don't have "Sucker" written on my forehead.

Got the same call today from Robin Blakenship. I happen to be very involved in our community, but an honor from an Oklahoma congressmen?  

I COULD understand receiving a call from the office of Peter Welch, Bernie Sanders or Pat Leahy, our Vermont Congressmen, since I have met all of them.  

So I googled the phone number before calling back and got this site.  Republican Party donation- not from Southeastern Vermont...  

Same story, but it was Ashly Camron from Tom's office.

Got a call from Melissa Barker from Tom Cole's office. This isn't a scam, it's basically political fundraising.  Do-not-call lists don't prevent these types of calls, since it's political.

"Dolores Murphy" has apparently taken over for Melissa, Georgia, Ashley and the rest....with the same National Leadership Award pitch.  Why would an Oklahoma congressman care about an Arizona worker?  Oddly, he serves on the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct.  And right there on his website is a link to the Do Not Call Registry!  GOP hypocrite.

Pretty much the same as all the others, but it was from Brenda Wagner.  They sure go through assistants quick!  :)

Got the same call but from Cynthia Holt from Congressman Tim Cole's office.  What BS! I'm gald I found this site before I returned the call.

A Janet Hawlaryk, Nat'l. Republican Congressioal committee,called here asking for my son. Said he'd been awarded a National Leadership Award from Rep. Tom Cole. I re-called the number and spoke with a Michael Hill also representing Business Advisory Council and he told me Rep. Tom Cole is out of the 4th District in Oklahoma and still active as Chairman of the BAC.  Again he stressed my son contact their office asap and he was being requested to represent our state at these Business Advisory Council meetings which would be held in Washington, DC.

Got the call yesterday at 2PM in the central time zone, on my direct dial line at my office. Same story as above.

I got the same call. I am not calling back after reading this. I am going to send an email to the local Republican Congressman and let him know. Figures, the Republicans are so desperate they have to trick people into donating to their party.

I just got a call this afternoon from Sharron Schulcock (sp) from Tom Cole's office and that I too had won a 'National Leadership Award'.

I'm honored... or should it be 'I'm about to be asked for money!'

Just checked my messages and had one from Michelle Major.  She was calling on behalf of Tom Cole and wanted to congratulate me on winning a National Leadership award.  Honestly, I work hard and know some great people, but there are few in the nation who know of my existence... hence, I'm not much of a leader.  Especially on a national level!!  Looks like a lot of people are having the same call... And I thought I was really special!!  :)

Same story. Carl Something. Tom Cole. Regarding winning a National Leadership award, and they want to send me a Press Release. I knew it must have been some sort of scam, but they sounded pretty professional on the phone.
