One of the 'soliciters' used a different ploy on me this morning.  Supposedly there are now thousands of cancerous children in Africa that desperately need help.  For just a few dollars a month I could help one small child.

This number is about the 1001 number I've looked up here; ALL S-C-A-M-S.  One of the LOOPHOLES in the DO NOT CALL List is for "Charities" (as well as "political" calls and "Surveys"); that's why so many of these SCAMMERS are taking this 'route'.  In fact they are **GREEDY**, **LYING** **THIEVES** and do NOT DESERVE our time, attention - and CERTAINLY NOT our MONEY.

Didn't answer, let it go to the machine; they did NOT leave a message.  We *NEVER* answer callers who are NOT DECENT NOR LEGITIMATE ENOUGH TO IDENTIFY THEMSELVES **FULLY** ON CALLER ID. That's your FIRST CLUE that they are a SCAM.  Have you noticed that all LEGIT business callers PROUDLY ID THEMSELVES both on CALLER ID and when they start talking? This is because this is more ADVERTISING for them - they WANT you to 'find' them or call them back in order for them to make legit SALES.

Best to IGNORE the calls, if you can, although after 50 or more calls that can be a challenge, I'll grant you.  If they  are calling that often you should try and BLOCK them if you can,  and DEFINITELY FILE COMPLAINTS and CHARGES with the FCC, FTC and local police authorities.

And 800Notes, you need another Call Type CATEGORY:  "SCAMMER/SPAMMER"

THIS IS A BOGUS GROUP! DO NOT GIVE THEM ANYTHING! Cancer society does not call homes!  Another scam! Its sad that these people call and abuse callers.  Another thing true people that work for real companies as the ( well you know! ) does not abuse callers or they wouldn't be in business!   Just an Fyi if you have caller ID true companies won't have a fake name or no name and 800 xxx-xxxx, or 877 xxx-xxxx.! You can also call that National Do Not Call List and report the abuse 1-888-382-1222 the press 2 and it will walk you through! Hope this helps everyone!!! :) P.S. EVERYONE Look up in your local phone book it has the true numbers for these great organizations that always need help in all ways such as helping out with your time at different functions!

Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you’ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls. However, if you ask a company with which you have an existing business relationship to place your number on its own do-not-call list, it must honor your request.  You should keep a record of the date you make the request.

Soooo, has anyone figured out how to get removed from this list at 877-213-5486?

We just received a call from this number asking for a donation to help kids with cancer, etc.  I explained that we are giving this week to a specific cancer and asked to be placed on the DO NOT CALL list.  I barely got the words out when she hung up on me.  I know reputable companies will verify your number and confirm the request.  It's the law.  I returned a call to the company and left a message of my experience demanding no more calls or that I would file a complaint.

I am also receiving calls - just had one this morning from this same caller id. thanks for this information. I called AT&T to block the call and they said that the call screen *60 feature does not block business or cell phone callers. )-:

May I request the FTC require a feature instituted by all phone companies to provide this feature for us to block these callers!

We got a call earlier this evening that showed no CID.  I answered ready to give them a blast but no one would say anything.   Maybe they were checking to see if anyone was home and answering.  Then came a "Toll Free" call from 877-213-5486.  We didn't answer and the scums didn't leave a message.

You guys will get a kick out of how this guy handles telemarketers -- he tells them they've reached a crime scene.

EVERY DAY, I get  call from that #, twice aday & I AM FED UP.  When are th authorities going to STOP this annoyance ?  I don't pay a phone bill for SCAMS, please ACT>

Today I blew a hurricane whistle into the phone.  Wonder if they will call again.

This number keeps calling my 85 yr old mother who is hard of hearing and slow to get to the telephone.  I live across town and get her frustrated calls.."They keep calling me.  I can't understand what they want." and  "it takes me so long to get to the phone but I am nervous that if it is one of my friends I will miss their call".  How do I stop it?

Me too, same deal. So happy I have caller ID though. Friends of mine say they can block calls they don't want to receive, on their cell phones.  My land line doesn't have that feature. It would be nice if all of us had it, then maybe we could get rid of this bogus company once and for all!!

How do you get them to stop calling, they call several times a week?

My story is the same -- this number calls several times a week on my unlisted phone, never leaves a message.  What I'd like to know is -- how on earth do we stop them?

we are on the dnc list also, ridiculous, these scammers don't adhere and don't have to.  When I told the sob that I wanted to be removed from their list, he very snottily said, thanks for helping the kids, hopefully he heard my x rated comment back to him.  when pennies on the dollar of my donation goes to these creeps, they can suck it.  Same with the scammer veterans group that I unfortunately gave to several years ago and then agreed to again before checking into, when I got my notice and threw it out, they started calling, I said well since 60 cents of each dollar goes to them and 40 cents the vets, I'll just send them the 40 cents and save them the math, they hung up and havent contacted me again.  I keep my donations local and in person, I want to know where my money goes and it sure isnt to these creeps.
