5:00 PM got a call from an unknown number... this lady told me she had a summons in her office and the gentleman has already tried to serve me twice at my home... She said if i wanted to contact his office to schedule a better time to be served instead of at work that i needed to contact 877-290-9013 SMG. She gave me a case complaint # two digits- four digits. She seemed nice but I went to case net for mo courts to see if i had any pending charges. I didn't see anything on casenet so then I googled SMG 877-290-9013 and wala.... I found this website. Why would the county or a collection agency try to warn you before showing up at your house? The whole thing doesn't make sense. The lady did tell me to MAKE SURE all the info that company SMG had was correct. She sounded very worried that I would show up to court and it not be my case. Well that's even more reason for me to be suspicious. She wanted me to give them all my info.

I just got a call from this co and he wouldn't give me a name. Just said if I didn't call I would be served. And couldn't tell me why. Funny for them I have been laid off   and there is security in my building. Good luck trying to get in. It is creamy the thought of someone coming to my house

II too received a message on my answering machine same as above they had a complaint filed against me and would be serving me a summons at my home or place of business the final statement the woman made was "you have been notified". Well I have never heard of anyone receiving a summons over the phone and I have not used checks in about two years, I have the same account I just use my card and if I had outstanding checks I would know it. Once I arrived at work I googled the number and I like the rest of you now know the truth. THIS IS A SCAM!!!!! Please take head what they are doing is ILLEAGAL.

My son recieved a call from Joseph Burns on May 19, 2011 telling him that he had a summons to sevre on me and to have me call 877-290-9013. First off , my sons number is private, unlisted and I don't know how they got it and I don't live there. They also called my home and left the same message and then called my mother's home. I called the number back and I spoke to Timothy Kohler who informed me he worked for a company that tracks people down for their clients and it was cashnet usa. He said I was being charged with writing bad checks and he was issuing a summons. I told him to bring it on. He tried to get me to give him a new bank account number which I didn't do. My loan was paid in full, but they continued to take out money on it for months.Then they started taking 2 & 3 payments per month coming out. The last straw was the $400.00 withdrawal in Feb 2009. The loan payment withdrawals never ended. The loan was only for $200.00 but I paid dearly for it. I printed the acitivity from my bank acct and took everything to my bank. They reviewed it and closed the acct and refunded the overage which stopped the ACH withdrawal Cashnet was trying to take that month. So now I am being stalked by these bottom feeders and because no one will  help, they get to continue to do what they do.

Got a call from "Betthany" this morning on my cell - I've not written a check in over 3-years and don't even have a checking account.  But my name is very common so they are skip tracing to see if they get a bit.  They will call and call but thats all.  

I once had a guy come to serve papers on the previous tenant where I lived and he just wouldn't beleive that I wasn't that person - so I called the police and they made him beleive.  

Just hang up or delete the calls.

Company called and left a messge on my cellphone stating that they are going to serve a warrant for my arrest at my place of work which is Department of Corrections for writing bad checks and stated I have been officially notified.

I have never written bad checks and I have the ability to perform record checks, so ofcourse I have no warrants. I will be speaking to an attorney that works in my building to find out what I should do about this scam. From the posts above, I believe this is southpoint management group. I am so glad I found this site and will be filing charges for harassment.

I got numerous calls from this number and got same thing as everyone else going to pre-trial and litigation if i dont call back.

Got a call from a private number today. Guy says he will serving me a summons for a bad check. Told him I was home and to come on over. Said he would serve at my place of employment. Since I work on a military base, I wasn't too concerned there either. Told I had been an ID theft victim a while back and he told me to call the 877-290-9013 to see "what options you have...".

I spoke to one of SMG's drones who gave me the whole shmack. Guess he was new tho, cause he really talked too much. This was the very same incident that I had closed previously by filing a police report and contacting the merchant (a payday loan vendor). The SMG drone said they would leave me alone once I faxed the info to them, but he add that the debt vultures continually sell these accounts to each other, so it may pop up again!

At that point, I explained that I was reporting the previous vulture to the FTC, BBB, and my State Attorney General for perpetuating my harrassment. In my fax, I clearly explained they were next if the info popped up again in the future...

I just received a call from a  "private caller" and the woman, "Amanda", left the same voice mail everyone else on this board received.  Fortunately I called NOT during business hours and got the voicemail of a  company nameed of SMG.  Once I Googled SMG and the phone number, I learned about the SCAM.

How do these folks get away with this type of stuff?  Using intimidation to gain personal information from people is heinous! EVERYONE needs to report this tp authorities so they can be shutdown!

I received a phone call from them stating that they are going to serve me at my office or home. I am glad I read these posts.  I am contacting The Center for Civil Justice to see what I can do to stop them.  If anyone has any other ideas please let me know.

They have called my home my mothers home my mother n laws home and I have a common last name so thet caled our local hospital asking to speck wit a woman name Carolyn that shares my same last name and jus so happens to have a daughter with my name. Gave this woman my social security number birthdau and adress. She came to my house to let me kbow what they did. So idk what I can do but I don't even owe these ppl

I was contacted by a lady named Amanda saying that I wrote a bad check and now I'm being summons to court by a plaintiff which I haven't had checks in over 4 years but she said shed go to my house and place of work. Does anyone know if their real or what I should do?

If anyone has defaulted on a debt, you may have had your personla informaiton sold to a faulty debt collector overseas trying to scam you. If these people won't send oyu anything in writing jsut ignore them and don't feel threatened. all of their activites are illegal and they can't do antyhing except harass you. There are several people who have paid them through their checking accounts and got  ripped off even after the supposed balnced was cleared.

File a reprot with FTC and your attornery general. Called the police and get a reprot a they are illelgal and harassing you. Do your homework you will find tha there is a huge scam across america thanks to the recession of people's identiy and peronsal informaiotn being compromised.

These people you TRAC phones tha  they throw away after lawaz enforcement calls them.

So don't worry the calls can be stressful but I tell them "Sue me then" and they stop for awhile and then pick back up. I want someon to come to my house illeglally as I legally have the right to bear arms and protect myself so if they want to play I got something for them

Please note: I was called yesterday 8/2/2011 at my desk at work and I told the caller that he was a scammer and never call me again on any number! They have already gotten my cousin who thought they were legit for over $700!!! She now cannot pay her mortgage!!! Do not answer any questions, do not confirm anything and hang up when they start talking that court and being served nonsense!!!! They are using the phishing scheme! They are not coming to your house!

My mother had a message on her voice-mail with the same story and they were trying to contact me.  Only thing... the dumb a#s forgot to star 67 it, so I have his real name and real number and I WILL turn him in.  This is ridiculous.  How do I go about turning him in?
