i keep receiving phone calls from 877-290-9013 telling me that they are going to summons me for a bad check how can i get rid of them calling me i have no bank accounts and i dont write checks they are full of it  the guy that calls me his name is tom gibson

So,  just to confirm,  smg is just a phishing scam and they will not serve u?  It sounds real but I don't think it is.  What is the bottom line?

Got the same message and looked up on Maryland's court system to see if there was a pending case.  Called the 877 number back and had a little fun with them.  Don't think they will be calling me anymore haha.

The company just called me as well.  I ignore them.  They called during the summer, and I ignored them.  I have not heard if they called anyone else connected to me.  I am hoping not.  But I will be making a complaint and figuring out how to stop the harrassment.  Wish they could be served for real.  Thanks for the input on the posts.

got a message from shirlene gore in raleigh stating that i had a bad check as well and i only have a savings   she was rude and even threatened to come to my job.  she said that she would do what she had to do to get her job done   even though she gave me a full name whose to say it is her real name   will be contacting an atty    she said that her company was legit   i beg to differ

Got a call from this number, nothing about checks they identified themselves as Auto Driveway which is a company that relocates vehicles. They ship vehicles from place to place.

my daughter had a message on her cell phone today saying im under investigation for 2 serious charges and to call a number starting with770 and to give a verbal statement about me than i walked in my room and i got a message saying i have 2 serious charges against me they gave me a case number and said thatt here from check fraud and worthless check fraud division and im officially notified and to call them to prevent more legal matters and to get a lawyer to have my day in court, does that sound right. i to hardly use any checks. fran  they also said if i comply with this message im giving up my rights ders this sound shabby . p[ease reply

i received a message  and my daughter from a worthless check division and i have been officially notified and wanted my daughter to call them for a verbal statement and than they left me a similar message that there are 2 serious charges against me and they gave me a case number and said to call them to work out matters and by calling them i comply with the charges and loose my rights and agree with the charges. i rarely right checks and i to know if i overextend myself. fran  the tel # is 770 450 8126 a georgia area code. what should i do call them and loose my rights. please answer.

You can't "lose your rights" if you do or don't call them back.  Debt is civil, not criminal,so contrary to what those jokers said, there are NO "serious" charges against you.  You also can't be "officially notified" via phone, voice mail, text or email.  If you speak to them, demand that they MAIL you proof that you owe this debt and that they have the legal right to collect said debt.  If they refuse to mail this documentation to you, then per the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act), they are owed nothing.  Be advised, some scammers will fax or email a "copy" of a check, but people who have received such copies state it's obvious the check was not written by them, on their bank or not their name/signature.

Oh, and please DO report them to the FTC, FBI, Dept of Justice and your state's Attorney General for the multiple violations of the FDCPA they've committed.  If they continue to harass you, advise them they've been reported, and also that you're recording all calls they make so YOUR attorney (doesn't matter if you have one or not) can file a lawsuit against THEM for multiple violations of the FDCPA.  And do record them and keep a log of dates/times they call.

I'd just say, " Come over you SOB.  My friend AK47 and I will be waiting for you."
