You did a pretty good job.  Sometimes all these scammers understand is brute force.  (I mean words only)

Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

If they are bothering you, report them:

    http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now. If you can find them.  Nobody seems to know where they are located.

Don't let these debt scammers push you around.

While browsing the web on my tablet a moment ago, a box appeared on the screen warning me there was a possible security issue and that I needed to call this very number to resolve it.  I could not close the box or otherwise navigate out of the page I had been viewing, so I had to go into Safari's settings to close all tabs.  I then did a search and found a forum about it.  Someone who had gotten the same message called the number and was told that their computer would have to be accessed by the other party in order to determine if there was a problem and fix it.  That person wisely hung up.  This is a crook phone number.

So I was called by a "processor" claiming she was to serve me court papers and gave me a number to call and speak with someone at Statewide Legal Services. When I called they refused to give me information as to what the issue is. As I was in the phone I began googling them and found a lot about them and scams. When I told the man, who would not identify himself, that this sounded like a fraudulent situation he wished me luck and hung up. The "processor" called me back to inform me she would be serving me so I told her good luck because this is a fraudulent case since I have done nothing to have legal issues. She, in turn, hung up on me. I will see if they serve me, which I doubt, but my husband went through a similar situation recently so I am sure this is another scam. The company is still using an 877 number but it's not the same as I have read from a couple years ago. The number is 877-753-4871.

Hey guys, this is a debt collection service for either you, or in my unfortunate case, someone who listed you as a reference.  They change it up,too, it is not always the same last four, but will be the same area code. People pay these folks to harass people to get money....

..and the callers are scammers who blatantly violate the FDCPA by threatening those they call with legal action and refuse to mail proof that people actually owe them money.  In other words, block the losers!

They have been calling me, my daughters and anyone else they can find.  They told me that if I didn't pay, they would file charges for check fraud and have me thrown in jail.  I fell for it last time and paid them $157.  They started in again with the threats today when I didn't have enough money in my acct for the payment.

Of course they called you again.  That is how extortion works.  You paid them without questioning it and now they want more.  They can't file charges for anything let alone check fraud.  These are crooks pretending to be debt collectors.  The fact that you haven't disputed the charge with your bank and changed your account is worrisome.

You really do need to learn what debt collection is about and how to deal with them.   First, make a police report since they stole money from you.  Second, do yourself a favor and use the following to educate yourself so you don't become or continue to be the victim of this crime.

Read up on your rights here and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
