they called saying they wanted to serve us with a warrant and officers would show up at my house would I verify my address-I called the police and they said if they were going to serve us they would just do it-they said it was a scam-they do not call you!!!

They called me today at 0800 on the dot,I didn't answer. They called my sister SEVEN times in a row and when she finally picked up they told her there were charges file against me and they needed her to contact me. Then I did call them, obviously I know it's all [***], told them to serve me all they want, but explicitly ask them to not call anyone but myself. They said, "good luck" in court and hung up.
Then they call my husband 4 times in a row and finally left a message saying I had charges placed against me. This has to be stopped!

They called and harassed my daughter and brother who both live in different states, I think it's bull crap - I can't think of anything I have done or owe - My credit file was stolen last summer so maybe, Creeps.

Called my number repeatedly. The last call came up as me calling myself. They used Caller ID Spoofing! They left a voicemail. The caller said her name was Katie Brooks and that someone (not me, lol) had charges against [them]. She said that I had one chance to call the firm handling the case and left the number 866-250-7753. She also said somewhere in there that she needed to verify my address and I would be served at my home and place of work. I suspect this is a debt collector with wrong information. Other people commented that their relatives were harrassed too. If this is a debt collector, that information may have been in the file.

Crafty little [***].  They called my wife's ex-husband on his cell.  There's no way in hell they could have had his number EXCEPT by hacking HER cell phone's contact list and/or call history (they've called her several times).  Logic would dictate that the only way they could have accomplished this was by somehow hacking into my Verizon Wireless account.  I've reset the password on the account and locked down the privacy settings, but they're still getting this info somehow.  If they can't get a hold of you, they'll start calling everyone you know (or everyone you know knows) in an attempt to embarrass you, hoping you cave and give them what they want.  If you pay their ransom thinking they'll go away, don't count on it!  If they know you have a breaking point, they'll just keep coming back for more.  I know it's tough, but stay strong and don't give in!  Just remember, they're criminal thugs, and they're going to keep at it whether you give in to them or not.

I've been at this long enough to know plenty of ways to expose these scambags for the criminals they are and have lots of fun doing it.  If it's a war they want, they've got it!

Claiming to have a claim against us.

Interesting note I think everyone should be aware of:

I just got off the phone with Verizon Wireless.  Had some concerns that someone was hacking into my account online and somehow getting a hold of my call/text logs and/or contact lists.  Apparently, this was a security bug that had been brought to their attention in 2013, and was patched at that time.  Just the same, I took the liberty of changing my password and security question, and re-checking all of my privacy settings.  I called VZW just to give them a heads-up about my concern that someone may have hacked into my account.

The VZW rep made a note to my account, and she informed me that the scammers have some very high-tech means at their disposal to obtain such things as call/text logs and contact lists.  Some of their software is capable of hacking your phone as soon as you answer or call them back, and you wouldn't even know it's happening.  I knew technology was good, but this was alarming!

Suffice to say, this is a prime example why we should never answer our phones if we don't recognize the number (even if it appears to originate from a local area code, as most spoofed numbers do).  Let it go to voice mail.  If the caller doesn't leave a message, forget it.  If you receive multiple calls from the same number or the caller leaves a suspicious message, block it and report the calls to the FTC.  DO NOT answer or call back, as your personal information could be at risk just by doing so.  Be safe!

Called me my son and daughter-in-law. Said they had claim against me. I called back and got a recording. Now they are calling my son's in laws. How do we stop these people?

They just called my landlords, who are in the late 80's...harassing them.  Telling them there were charges against me. This is effecting my living situation, how do we get them to stop? I plan on having a lawyer call them to have the phone calls stopped. When I called the number back, 866-250-7753, it states they are Statewide ABR.
