- Mike| 3 repliessaid they were chase bank and wanted my debit card number or social, did not sound legit
- Caller: chase?
- JJ| 1 replyReceived a call from this number asking for the last four digits of My wife or mine debit card number. Also, received a letter with chase logo stating to call this number because my social security number has been updated. This is fraudulent.
- Caller: chase
- SuzanneGot a message from someone saying they were from Chase and had an issue or question. Won't call them now, if they want something they can send something in the mail. Also, I have a rep who knows me, so he would call me or write a letter.
- KateI received information in the mail and this was one of the contact numbers. The letter asked me to fill out a W-9 and a social security form. I called one of the branches directly from a phone number I looked up and they said they did not request this information and was glad I looked into it. Don't just assume that if you get something in the mail it is alright either. Scary how good these people are getting. Makes me ill just thinking about it.
- Sam| 2 repliesThis a legit phone # -- it's Chase's fraud protection dept. I called Chase Bank using the # on my card, and they confirmed that the # is legit and then transferred me to that dept. internally.
- Caller: Chase Bank, N.A.
- Enough Already! replies to SamThe number shown on caller id may be legit. However anyone can spoof their outgoing caller id to show whatever they want to. I'm very thankful for this website. It's nice to know we are not alone in this war against identity and credit scammers.
- IsraSounds like a scam. They said they're from Chase Bank.
- Caller: Chase
- dreamI called chase branch that I have the acct and they said this is the chase number. But they said if I am not comfortable releasing any information on the phone, I can come to the bank and call with bank officer. Good idea.
- Caller: chase bank
- TeresaThey are still doing it with the same phone number. Got a call saying they were chase and the call was urgent. They asked for my atm card number. I don't use my chase atm cards. Called chase from the number on the back of my credit card and they said there was no problem and to email them the phone number to abuse@chase.com
- AndiGot a call from a Chicago number - 312.325.3558 - saying that it was Chase and asking for the last 4 digits of one of my card numbers. I immediately asked them what this was about and they said they couldn't tell me without verifying my information. They then gave me the 877.382.8854 number and told me to call it when I felt "comfortable". Total scam.
- Kathleen DriggersI got a phone call from this number telling me it was urgent that I call back regarding a business account I just opened at Chase. I called the number and it just said to hold for a customer rep. At no time did it say a company name or even mention chase so after about 10 minutes on hold, I hung up. Feels fishy to me. If it were a legit Chase number, the answering voice would have said CHASE!
- Nick M| 3 repliesEveryone needs to stop being so paranoid. These are the same people that hide under their bed when they get a call from a restricted number... It's Chase Bank's Fraud Hotline phone number. I was missing a document when opening my business account. Call the number on the back of your card and have them transfer you if you feel safer that way...
- Caller: Chase Bank Fraud Hotline
- The-Truth replies to Nick M| 1 replyMaybe YOU should get a little smarter. Even if this number is legit, scammers can easily spoof it. Smart people call back via the number on the back of your credit card. You're welcome to randomly give out your number to anyone who calls. Intelligent people call a number they know is real to confirm.
- Mary replies to The-TruthWell put...and true!
- ArronGot a call from a 312 number, then received a voice mail saying they're from chase and need to verify something and was asked to call back at 877 382 8854. I called chase to verify the number and they said they don't have that number!
- smarter than themgot a fishy letter in the mail ( photocopied) saying they were going to restrict my account due to missing documents? i had just opened a new account in my local branch so pretty sure they have all they need and it didnt match previous paper stock i received from chase and the logo was different i called my personal banker he informed me it was not from chase and there were no problems even the chase code on the bottom was fake ... BE CAREFULL !!!!!

- David L replies to Nick MI think the issue for everyone should be phone call versus letter. I did receive a letter requesting I call because of some missing information on an account I recently opened. Like another poster indicated, the letter did not have the blue Chase logo - instead it was black and white.
I googled that number and ended up here. Did my own research (1) Called the number. They requested my account and I said I would not give it over the phone. No problem. Just stop by a branch they stated. I asked them for the branch next to me and they asked me for zip. Within seconds they gave me the address and hours of operation of the nearest branch. I also called the general Chase number to verify legitimacy of the number and they did as well.
So - I think what folks should focus on is that it is easy to spoof a phone number when they are calling you. However, if you receive a letter and verify that it is a legit one - don't ignore it as it probably is an issue you need to resolve. - David LI think the issue for everyone should be phone call versus letter. Been a customer of Chase for 10 years. No issues. I called and they said I have to prove I'm a US citizen (born and raised here my whole life---never left the country except for Bermuda!) The nearest branch is 300 miles away. They told me unless I drive 300 miles, they will close the account. I have lots of money in the account. Im so annoyed. Think I will transfer my account immediately. Why are they questioning me after 10 years and there must be more I can do then drive 300 miles!

- JessicaCaller said that they were from Chase Loss Prevention. Didn't feel comfortable giving information with an unsolicited call. Called Chase and they could not find any information on any of my accounts. Beware.
