I got a letter in the mail and was suspicious of it as well. I called a known Chase number and spoke with someone who also thought it was suspicious at first but was then able to verify that the number was in fact from Chase.

Definitely a scam.  Got a letter supposedly from Chase wanting me to give them my birth-date, SSN, address, etc and fill out a W-9 and mail to some Non-Chase address.  I called the number (supplied in the letter) and asked the lady to give me the SSN they had for me and I would tell her if it was correct.  Suddenly, she didn't have ANY information available on me even though I told her the name on my letter.  Since I don't have any Chase bank accounts and do not use any Chase credit cards, I asked her what branch she would suggest that I visit.

Definitely a scam although much of it looked and sounded official enough.

We also received a letter, photo copy pages.  Requesting all my wife's info that was given years ago when we opened our accounts.  Do not try resolving it over the phone with Chase they will just transfer you in circles. I would not give my info but gave them the  letter Ref# instead.  Chase did tell me that the Ref# was not formatted in the way they do their letters to customers.  Will have to go into a branch the next couple of days.

Got the letter, spoke to Chase Fraud via the telephone number on the back of my card. He said Chase would never ask for my info, SSN etc. in a letter, and if they ever called for it they'd give me the option to call back using the number on the back of my card. Said this wasn't Chase.

There are scammers on here posting

Don't call this number back. Chase numbers are 800 not 877. Even the voicemail for the 877 is suspicious. Why would you mail important docs to a PO Box. Never give anybody your information via phone or mail. Don't read into the other posts on here saying that it's legitimate.

I got a letter in the mail with this number. I called my local bank and they said this number wasn't in their record. (They use 800 vs 877). They gave me the 800 number of the Business Fraud dept and I was told that there wasn't any issue with my account. I think the letter is a phishing scam. Also the letter had a double imposed letter over the "Call us at 1-877..." part.

This was a letter not a phone call.
This 1-877-382-8854 is a legitimate phone number for chase compliance department.

I got several letters and was concerned that it was a scam. It won't show up on reverse phone directory, so i went to the bank and they indeed needed the information on my account that the letter stated, but did not know of this number. After i went to the bank and took care of the questions,  i got another letter
(crossed in the mail) and so i actually called the number because i was upset they keep threatening my account with being blocked and closed. Once i gave them only one of my debit card numbers ( not my s.S. Number) they were able to see "all" of my accounts. To verify it was legit i also called the chase number on the back of my debit card and they did not know of this number and i got freaked out, so "they" actually called the number while i was on the phone and  confirmed that it was legit.
Don't worry they are legit !!

I received a voicemail from a Chicago number, but the voicemail left this 877 number to call back. When I called, they asked for my account number and I refused. They said to go to a branch or to call the number on the back of my card. I did call, told them Loss Prevention supposedly called and they checked one of my new business accounts and did find a note that they called. They had forgotten to ask a specific question on the application and needed it to complete our profile.

I got a letter  not phone call today. I was told if I was not able to provide additional information, my business account would be restrict or close in 10 days. I called  phone number on the back of my chase debit card. And they transfer my phone to specialist to solve the problem. It's Chase Fraud compliance Dept. However, if you don't feel comfortable just like me,  don't call that 1-877 number, instead to call chase customer service number. They will help you to transfer internationally.

I got officially looking letter on a JP Morgan Chase letterhead asking me to fill W-9 form and send or fax back. This phone number was provided in case of questions.
I called Chase (using the phone number on my credit card) and verified that no such letter has been sent to me according to the account records and that there is no such phone number in Chase phone book.
